I'm getting several messages saying "value on wrong side of alignment" when I rebuild my corridor. I've checked the two target alignments that I'm using and they are on the correct side.

I have some objects (corridor / intersection corridor / surface / grading ...) in civil 3d 2013...When we rotate the 3d objects , object rotate pivot point about (0,0,0, or any place x,y,(z=0)..So rotated 3d object (if the Z= High value) can't be seen / can be seen as a point.
how to change the object viewer pivot point ? (not using steering wheel or zoom extents because of first time rotating objects seen so far )
Any way to change the setting in Object Viewer that will let you orbit around the cursor instead of the center of the screen? In object viwer, orbit is only constrained around the middle of the screen. To me, it would make sense to have it rotate around the cursor like in model space.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have used the object viewer of my surface and selected conceptual visual style. I save the image as a .png file for a presentation. Is it possible to have the area that there is no surface to be black and not white? Other than opening it up in paint?

In model space I grab my tin, then object viewer. Everything comes up then immediately on rotating my vie win the object viewer the surface disappears.

When I use Object Viewer to look at just feature lines and surfaces, the feature lines do not appear at the same elevation as the surface as I shift the view around. Why is that- especially since I am looking at the surface I created from those same feature lines?
is that a feature, intended to make it easier to discern the feature lines in Object Viewer? Or a quirk of my video card?

Today I opened a file that has previously worked perfectly well, only to find that when I open my surface in Object Viewer and begin to rotate it manually, the triangles making up the surface do not appear. I have the contour lines and border (what is enabled in the Edit Surface Style/Display/Model tab) although the triangles (which should be displayed as well) do not appear. Other surfaces show like they should.
Is there another option other than the Edit Surface Style/Display/Model tab and the VISUALSTYLES command?

Attach is the a showing 3 surfaces on a site . How do i embed a material on a surface on the layout page/mode.
In Object viewer it shows clearly the rock material on the surface.
For some reason, when I view my corridor in Realistic mode in object viewer, all the rendering has changed colours and quality of the textures etc.
It used to display just fine and I am wondering what has caused this? Is it a Driver issue?
I have attached an image of what it looks like now. As you can see the quality is really poor and the colours are wrong.

I've been using pipe network in Civil 3D for some time now and all I can say is I can't wait for them to rewrite it!
I've had acouple of problems with some of the default parts for the UKIE template which I have managed to fix manually but there is stil one problem I can't seem to solve. For some reason my type E manholes show up in plan and section but don't show at all in object viewer. I've even tried to create a new drawing and place a new network but again the same thing happens.
I've tried going into part builder, validating it and saving it, reload the catalog etc. just incase.
I'm pretty new to using multi view blocks and rendering etc etc... basically all I want to do is show my surface (lake and landscaping) as grass, show a clear blue hatch to represent the water line and add some multi view blocks.. people and trees...
Using the multiview blocks toolpalette I have dragged and dropped some blocks into model space and ensured they are at the correct elevation to sit on the surface...
I have noticed that only one of the multi view blocks within the landscape tab is showing as I would expect - the rest all look like an extruded cross... I don't know how to fix this or whether this is correct.
i am trying to get the coordinate value for the current station in the subassemblies.
i found
Autodesk.Civil.Roadway.DatabaseServices.BaseBaseline.StationOffsetElevationToXYZ(ByRef Autodesk.AutoCAD.Geometry.Point3d) As Autodesk.AutoCAD.Geometry.Point3d
but how you get the basebaseline?
in the alignment object there is no convert station to coordinate only coordinate to station. which is useless in this case.

is it possible to get the alignment name which the corridor surface is built from when the surface is being data referenced. in other word no corridor as the middleman.
the way i see it is when corridor suface is referenced, it becomes a regular surface and loses some properties such as parent alignment.
i am still using COM. maybe .net can do it? either way works.

I'm not having any luck on my own. Can I use subassemblies that I create in subassembly composer to make an intersection using the "CreateIntersection" command?

View 2 Replies View RelatedCopy a corridor successfully? I'd like to try this just a little worried about the explosion of evil this may cause to my Civil 3D session.
Even all the properties of the corridor setup from one to another would be useful. I'm building one corridor and an 2nd one that matches everything except I need to replace my Assembly with one meant for stripping.
My corridor surface is not matching my corridor top links. see attachments. this is affecting my volumes!
The section-plan(surface red).png is showing the section editor and the plan view. the red highlighted line in section is the corridor surface and as you can see in plan view the surface is incorrect and wiggly.
The pdf is all my sections with the red linework being the corridor surface.

View 9 Replies View RelatedAs you can see in my attachment, I have a emergency spillway coming out of a dugout wetland. The fill area, the pool area, and the emergency spillway channel are all separate surfaces. All three of these surfaces are created from gradings. The fill was a feature line drawn around the top witdth of the dam, and then graded down to the Existing Ground. The channel is another polygon feature line with elevations at each PI and then graded up to the EG. The pool was a feature line I drew around the perimeter of my pool, laid on the surface EG, and then graded down to an elevation on a slope.
I'd really like to blend all the surfaces together. Right now, they are all separated with tiny slivers of Existing Ground.
How do I go about this? As you can see, I'm still pretty green with gradings.
I have a HEC RAS model which I ran a steady flow simulation on, and then I tried to use the GIS Export button to get a .sdf file. When I tried to connect to the .sdf file in Civil 3D, I got these errors:
Failed to connect.
Failed to open FDO connection.
File is not an SDF file, or is an SDF file with an unsupported version.
An error occurred during SDF database access.
I played around with the settings I chose when I exported in HEC RAS and couldn't get any different results.
I have an addin with a palette that include some datagridviews.
I show in these datagrid, properties and information about all alignments in drawing.
With event commandEndend I can update all information if I use "grip-strectch" for some PI alignment.
However, we can modify alignment data from Panorama palette (geometry editor) and I would like to know if there are any event to catch it after modify data.
I have the same trouble that this post:

when I created a Top surface, C3D showed me otherwise. I need a gap at an intersection. In the attached DWG the intersection corridor has been removed from view by isolate.
I used 2 seperate baselines to force the road corridor to have a gap at the intersection.
Looked OK .. except ..later .. when I created a Top surface, only the first baseline is used to create the surface, the second baseline is skipped : (
I obviously did not make a gap correctly. What is the correct way? Or.. is there no way .. must the designer create multiple seperate corridors when the road has gaps?
I have a very basic question about creating corridors. As you can see on the attachment, i created an assembly consisting of ditch and my own polyline subassembly and turned it into a corridor. The ditch part is drawn out correctly, but the other part (supposed to be a gravel road) has only sections in certain points.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI started playing around with 3d dwf's. I'd like to share my corridors in a 3d dwf viewer or something similar but when it opens in design review, everything is skewed/ jagged/garbled. The other problem is that it exports everything (assemblies, alignments, sections etc.) so it make viewing navigation difficult in the viewer for people that aren't CAD savvy to begin with. It would be ideal if you could select what you want to export similar to exporting a wmf file.
How do others share 3d models with non-cad people?
When i try to create a material list, i don't see my corridor surface - just the EG surface appear in the list.

When creating an alignment from corridor feature (ditch invert level), the created alignment is not following the selected line (see image bellow). The alignment seams to be created from the first point of the feature line to the last point and ignores all the other points. The vertical alignment created at the same time seams to be correct.
