I would like to open discussion about function that could easilly convert Civil 3D drawing with its all corridors, grading groups, feature lines etc. to regular AutoCAD 2D drawing to be able to hatch, measure, trim and so on. Is it clear, that corridor edit commands and features are not good enough to add another structures as stairs, culverts, parking lots with green islands and another civil structures...
Export to AutoCAD or AEC Explode converts drawing to some 2D/3D exploded hybrid, where it takes hours of editing, flatting and joining lines to make graphically correct and usable 2D drawing. And what worse, when the design is changed, user has to start from scratch again and again, which is not twice effective... And it is just directly against all Autodesk marketing phrases how to work smarter using BIMs.
I mostly shoot in RAW + JPEG and when importing my catalog I converted RAWs to DNG. However, I have on some occaisions had to shoot JPEG only and I'd like all my masters to be stored as DNG. The only option to convert JPEGs to DNG that I can find is via Export. I presume if I used this I'd have to export them all then delete the JPEG masters from my catalog before importing the DNGs.
I am trying to create a simple action/droplet that will open a bunch of PDF files and make them a certain resolution on the open and then save as jpegs to a particular file. The problem is, when I create the action, the first step, when I open the PDF file, whatever name was in the name box, is it??? Every new PDF opens with that same name and overrides the next one.
Is there a way to tell Photoshop to pick the current name of the file opening and not use the one that was the original file that the action was created from?
I'm wanting to do something seemingly very simple but I've never tried working with pictures before other than to resize or crop. How do I convert a simple picture to a line drawing?
When I generating contour(surface) using Civil 3D it gives very complicated contours. Some times those contours cuts each other and have very strange shape.
I used to use SURFER software to generate contours. It gives simple contours. But I like to use Civil 3D because.
I attached SURFER contours and Civil 3D contours. I also attached AutoCAD file those who using older versing of Civil 3D.
I know how to smooth contours in Civil 3D but it does not solve my problem. You may say "You should use commands like swap edge, delete line .
how do I use Civil 3D to do basic pipe analysis computations? For example, I give it the slope, material, etc. and it spits out the flow velocity, flow depth, slope min, etc.
All I want for now is a basic tool for sizing pipes without all the bells, loops & whistles. I can learn the fancy pipe networking stuff later.
I need to export a .SHP file containing some polygons to a GIS user so he can lay the shapes in a GIS map. The data he needs from me is the outlines of several wetlands I've designed in C3D 2010. There isn't any elevation data associated with the outlines. They are just traced waterlines from each pool set into a layer called "permanent pools." He wants these to show location in a GIS plan.
When I try to MAPEXPORT, and then selct each of my 10 pool outlines, it says "no object selected" in the command line.
I have a simple catchment area that I've routed to an inlet and then to an outfall. The 10 year storm peak flow going into the inlet is 3.91 cfs and my flow in the link to the outfall is 10.55 cfs. I do not understand why it is increasing going into the pipe. I've attached the pdf results here because for some reason it won't let me attach.spf file.
I've been downloading whole tiles from OSIP for lidar surfaces. I've been using the grid files, and they work great. But, I don't really need an entire tile while working in my drawing, and I'd like to clip just my area of interest out of the tile. What is the fastest way to do this? These whole tiles are data hogs, and I fear they are slowing me down.
I used to have a computer at my old job that wouldn't slow at all using this stuff, so I haven't had a reason to learn how to do this until now when i'm forced to work on a laptop.
I am experiencing a problem in 2013. In part builder, I am trying to add wall thicknesses to the simple cylinder. I was able to add options for inside diameter and set floor thickness to a list and add options for that, but when I try to set wall thickness to list instead of constant, I get an error in the value menu.
Everything disappears and in red at the bottom, I get a message about an error in calculations. I even tried temporarily deleting the With from any calculations, but I still got the error. I have had no problems doing this in 2011 or 2009.
We are making road , it has intersections with simple roads wich leads to forest or a fields or to a private territory. We have 60 of those intersections (crossroads) , if we would start making them all with intersection wizzard it would take a lot of time... , maybe there is simpler way to make such an easy crossings ? ( all of those crossroads are same type same geometry, the only difference is location)
Ok I am attempting to add a floating curve from the end of a simple straight alignment. No matter what I do the curve is created from the left end of the alignment. I first created an alignment from objects. I tried reversing the alignment and it still comes from the same point. I tried creating an alignment and drawing the objects using a fixed line. Still from the same point. How do you get it to create the floating curve from the opposite end?
I want to create a simple scale bar in a paper space layout, that is dynamically linked to the scale of the viewport.
I've searched and come across a few dynamic scale bars on the web and a few forum discussions, but I just can't work out how to create my own from scratch...
Illustrator keeps freezing when applying an effect such as texture-grain to a simple gradient, or even rasterizing a simple black circle. My system is about a 6month old macbook pro with 16gb ram, i7 and AMD Radeon HD 6770M 1024 MB. What could be causing this? It wasn't like this when i first started using the laptop but has started to do it everytime i try and do any of those simple tasks recently.
I have contours in AutoCAD Civil 3D. I want to convert them to dtm file format. I have a program from ADAMTech called 3DM Analyst that will only take dtm format.
I only just got photoshop yesterday and I barely know a thing but I have got an image with 3 layers and I want to make it into a simple animation, displaying each layer in turn.
I need to insert a 3d component into our AutoCAD drawing, and the vendor can only supply this as a .stp (step) file. Need to convert the attached .stp file to .dwg.
The file has been zipped because I am unable to upload a file with the .stp extension.
I have a tds raw file that I would like I would like to import into a new c3d drawing. I've tried and tried to convert it using the program inside of c3d, but to no avail.
I have a dwg file but need to convert to genio using the product enhancement tool. I have downloaded and installed this but dont know how to convert to genio?
I recently requested a .tin file from our surveyor. He sent the file. When making a surface from the .tin file, I got the error message, need the .pnt file as well. When I requested the .pnt file from our surveyor he sent a .txt file. It has the format x, y, z coordinates in a list. Without having to call and request info from the surveyor again, which he may not know how to do, can I convert the .txt file to a .pnt file?
Example of .txt file:

I have browsed one file in meters from Pythagoras to dwg. When I opened it with Civil 3D the drawing units become feet. Where is the problem and how can I convert the whole drawing to meters?
I am working with our surveyor to import fieldbook file into AutoCAD Civil 3D 2012. To convert raw into fbk I used the Survey Data Collection Link. I get a error message during the conversion "Bad raw data line at line 10. Unable to continue. Line:BK,OP7,BP563,BS".
I am assuming the problem is no value is set for the back sight azimuth. I went and edited the raw file giving the back sight azimuth a value of 0 and the program successfully converted the file to fbk format.
I've created a new database, and import events. When importing the created field book file I get an error at line 12 "Error: you must occupy a point first." Is there something missing in the raw or fbk file that is causing this error?
Here is the original raw file and the converted fbk file.
We have to submit a set of 18 drawings to a local municipality. They want the CAD files (in this case Civil3D 2011) in .DXF format. Is there an easy way to convert them all at once or do I have to SAVEAS each file one at a time?
I have these pickets, and I'm trying convert to points (such as in this video [URL], but then I'm finishing every points have z coordinate "0". I think because Z coordinate is in attribute, but not in block, but don't know how fix it.
I was tried to convert a point from UTM-39N to Lat/Long using geodetic calculator; but when I checked the converted coordinates by another applications (like GeoLab); they were a little different (about two seconds) & I'm sure GeoLab is right.
how do I convert a section that I created using an alignment and surface into a polyline. I want to be able to manipulate and easily use the section for another program.
