View 4 RepliesI have a client who uses Bently MX Roads for road design and requires that survey data be supplied in GENIO format. I realise that there are many possible options to get Civil3D survey data into MX, but I am trying to explore the use of the Subscription Extension to Import/Export GENIO.
Surfaces - no problem. Points - I see how I can get that to work. But the only linework that can be exported is Feature Lines, and it is also important that the feature lines have a name (likely related to the layer it is on).
I can convert survey figures to feature lines and name them one by one but would be very time consuming for a whole survey. Is there any way of doing all figures at once?
I'm guessing not and that it is probably easier to do the Genio creation from dwg in MX itself.
Civil3D 2014 - Windows7 64bit
I'm using the GENIO import tool and have run into a problem - the data is imported but due to the way the data is used in MX there are a multitude of crossing 3D polylines (see screenshot).
The strings are all "L" strings which are typically used in MX to define open areas where spot levels are surveyed (would be points in C3D).
The only way I can see to get around this is to create Civil Points at each vertex and use these in the surface build - any better solution (apart from requesting a triangular DTM of the MX surface)?
I need to output the contours my surface model to a genio for use in Mx. I have the Genio exporter tool installed but when i output the genio all that appears is the Boundary line without the contours, which when i think about it makes sense as the surface contours is more a display option rather than actual contours. Is there a way of exporting the contours via genio.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI would like to open discussion about function that could easilly convert Civil 3D drawing with its all corridors, grading groups, feature lines etc. to regular AutoCAD 2D drawing to be able to hatch, measure, trim and so on. Is it clear, that corridor edit commands and features are not good enough to add another structures as stairs, culverts, parking lots with green islands and another civil structures...
Export to AutoCAD or AEC Explode converts drawing to some 2D/3D exploded hybrid, where it takes hours of editing, flatting and joining lines to make graphically correct and usable 2D drawing. And what worse, when the design is changed, user has to start from scratch again and again, which is not twice effective... And it is just directly against all Autodesk marketing phrases how to work smarter using BIMs.
I recently requested a .tin file from our surveyor. He sent the file. When making a surface from the .tin file, I got the error message, need the .pnt file as well. When I requested the .pnt file from our surveyor he sent a .txt file. It has the format x, y, z coordinates in a list. Without having to call and request info from the surveyor again, which he may not know how to do, can I convert the .txt file to a .pnt file?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am working with our surveyor to import fieldbook file into AutoCAD Civil 3D 2012. To convert raw into fbk I used the Survey Data Collection Link. I get a error message during the conversion "Bad raw data line at line 10. Unable to continue. Line:BK,OP7,BP563,BS".
I am assuming the problem is no value is set for the back sight azimuth. I went and edited the raw file giving the back sight azimuth a value of 0 and the program successfully converted the file to fbk format.
I've created a new database, and import events. When importing the created field book file I get an error at line 12 "Error: you must occupy a point first." Is there something missing in the raw or fbk file that is causing this error?
Here is the original raw file and the converted fbk file.

I have a large amount of "ellipses" in a Civil 3D 2013 drawing that were created as "circles" in Cyclone 8.03 (the laser scanning software from Leica-Geosystems). I need to work with circles so I can label the diameter of each in my drawing. Is there a way to automatically convert these ellipses, that have the same exact minor and major axis, into circles? Other wise I will have to reapeat the work in Civil 3D using the same point cloud!
