View 1 RepliesMy problem is that I require to extract coordinates from specific points on the drawing and set them out on the ground at the real location.
On the drawing there are several base station locations with known coordinates. I have tried coordinating the drawing using Ctrl a, move, then type in the known coordinates of one of the base station location but nothing happens. I have also set the drawing to world with no change.
The coordinates in the bottom left corner are shown but are around 500m out.
I am having some drawings in CA-III Coordinate system and i want to change them in to UTM83-10F.
How can i handle this in .net.
My 2011 AutoCAD LT for Mac just started randomly changing the trim, fillet, and extend variables. I looked on other posts and learned how to change them back to the default settings. Since then they keep changing back every few minutes.
Specifically, the TRIMMODE keeps changing from 0 to 1, and the fillet trim mode keeps changing from TRIM to NOTRIM. One of those settings seems to make the extend command also not work as expected. I've been using this AutoCAD install on this particular Mac for over a year. The only recent change is an upgrade to OS X.
How do I add my own system in Civil3d? We have a little strange system here with a deformation model, but I suggest that isn't a problem.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to have a piece of text added to the drawing notes that uses a field (or similar), to list the coordinate system code assigned to the drawing, i.e. UTM83-12.
Any setvar or something that I can use?
There are load of different coordinate systems to choose from, and I don’t want to have to manually enter it for every drawing.
My group is trying to convert a dwg from one coordinate system to another. The original drawing contains points, blocks, etc. in 1 system and we need it in a different one. We tried attaching the dwg to a new map with the new system using a layer query, but this did not appear to bring in the objects into the new system.
"Structures" is in the original system (OR83-NF), "StructuresHarn" is in the desired system (ORHP-NIF)

Until now I have used Civil 3D for small projects. Now I'm starting a large project, 30 parcels, 5 roads in rough terrain.
Earlier I got some problems with some surfaces of the new construction that unwanted connected together. This time I want to get control of all small new "constructions" (parcels and roads) and connect them to the surface. I realize the original surface will be covered 100% of new terrain. How will I be able to connect all the surfaces together so that I can eventually create a single surface with all the new designs? (and run the waterdrop :-)
How to build all surfaces into the system?

i am located in Greece and the current progection is GGRS87 .
before the GGRS87 we had a system named HATT with the folowing info:

i have many drawings with point coordinates in the old system. is there a way to transform them in the new projection?
what else info is needed for the transformation.

I have Points in Civil 3D that are in the Washington State South Zone NAD 83 Coordinate System and would like to get these points converted to Washington State North Zone NAD 83 Coordinate System. I am able to convert drawings entities to the new coordinate system using MAPEXPLORER but the points do not go with it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWe are having a bit of a debate in our office. When you are working on civil engineering project where you are recieving files form Architects and Landscape Architects, and sending out "Dumbed Down" AutoCAD files to folks who don't have Civil3d, do you change your Civil3d Coordinate System to survey feet & specify your state plane coordinate system?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI think this problem started after installing C3D 2012, and I don't think it's related to the UAC problems. I tried asking my reseller about it, but got no answer.
This happens with all projects that use Custom Coordinate Systems created in C3D 2011 or earlier. When opening the drawing and going into "Drawing Settings", I get this, and have to click seven times through the error box to finally have it do nothing:
Then, if I go back to Drawing Settings, I see this:
Notice how most of the dialog box settings are missing.
This stuff all worked fine for years, but seems to have gotten broken as soon as I installed C3D 2012, and is still broken in C3D 2013.
I just installed AutoCAD Civil 3D 2012 last week from upgrading from 2011. I just noticed that when I set up a new drawing coordinate system for a horizontal datum, I get a message "Coordinate System Code is not Valid". I know the files are loaded under the documents and settings folder, but I don't know why it's not reading them.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen assigning a coordinate system to my drawing in Civil 3D 2013, the drawing does not retain the selected system.
I choose the coord system I want in Map Setup and apply it (in this case MT83IF). After applying to the drawing I go back to verify the selected coordinate system and the dialog box indicates "N/A". The only workaround I can find is to save the drawing back to an earlier version and open it on another computer in the office that is running 2011. There I can assign my coord system and then reopen in 2013 where it now shows it properly assigned.
I have tried other coord systems to make sure it isn't isolated to just the one I am selecting - and it happens with all others I try. I have also tried a repair on my install to see if that would correct it to no avail.
I have a 64 bit system and have installed all service packs to date.
I have a custom coordinate system defined and would like to send it out to a client, since they're having trouble creating a new coordinate system based on my parameters. Is it possible to sent that as a file so they can copy it to the appropriate folder or is it embedded in a database somewhere?

View 4 Replies View RelatedImagine a fresh machine and a fresh Infrastructure design suite 2013 install...sound sweet? It was for all of 3 or 4 minutes.Wonder what causes this squeaky clean system and install to freeze up completely, requiring nothing less than a reboot.
It happens every time I select any pulldowns in the quick access toolbar located at the very top of the screen above the ribbons.cause I need to give that "party crasher" the boot.
Five minutes ago I installed the latest hot fix. Now, AutoCAD Civil 3D 2014 won't work at all. As soon as I open the program and then try to open a file the system completely shuts down. Everything was working fine until two days ago. Then it wouldn't open the files and said to type in the file name on the command line. When I would do this, it always said file could not be located. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate, have an nVidea GTX 570 card, and an AMD Phenom II CPU. I'm hoping I don't have to uninstall and reinstall again.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWe are starting a project that we will be preparing a site grading plan for.We are being provided with an ALTA Survey drawing that is on state plane coordinate system, and the existing topography that I will be using for my existing surface is on a UTM coordinate system.
The site grading plan needs to be on state plane coordinate system that the ALTA Survey drawing is on.
I haven't done it before but I understand you can use Map 3D and take drawings that are on different coordinate systems and have them line up properly.
If I have my existing surface in a UTM coordinate system and want to data shortcut it into my site grading plan that's on state plane coordinates, will that work?
I have been trying to import LAS files via Civil 3D 2011.
To do this I first turn the workspace to ''Tool based geospatial''. Then i assign a global coordinate system which is the same one as the LAS file i am importing. The in the task pane window (command: mapwspace) under display manager tab i right click on map base --> data --> add point cloud data --> create new index and then choose the file I want to import. Here i have some trouble; in the create new index window i am unable to assign a coordinate system, i can find the one i need but i cant select it (or any other), it persists on staying unselected. I am able to create an index without a coordinate system but I need it with the right coordinates.
I'm adding a reference system grid to my paper space viewport. The default text format for the military grid reference system is almost perfect, except for the figures that are superscripted (see attached figure) - which I would prefer are aligned on the same baseline as the larger text, but still at the smaller size. Is there a way to customise the text format so that the reference system remains dynamic, but I get the exact format I want?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a small field (5 by 5 meters) to be set out with about 40 points. Currently i use EOV (Hungarian National Coordinate System), thus each point has a lot of digits. I want to make the implemetor's job easier, so i want to move and rotate the CS near to my field.
I tried to use UCS, but the COGO points retained the "World" coordinates.
How to carry out this without moving my whole drawing to the origin?
In AutoCAD Civil 3D 2012 when assigning the state plane coordinate system LA83-SF is missing from the Library. Although it is visible as a choice to select in the Available coordinate systems window when creating a Category.
View 8 Replies View RelatedWhen the attached shape file (change soilmu_a_a.txt to .shp) is imported using MAPIMPORT the data aligns with other imported georeferenced raster imagery (said imagery was imported using the MAPIINSERT command). If the same shape file is imported using the data connect tool it shows up in a much different location (see word document).
The drawing coordinate system code is "UTM83-18F" and the data was downloaded from the Web Soil Survey's data download with the identical coordinate system (see attached readme.txt).
I prefer to use the data connect option when importing this type of shape file because I can label them all using a theme and use stylize the data for visualization/presentation.
As an aside, I have found that data connect does not automatically transform data coordinate systems to match your drawing coordinate system as advertised. I've used the edit coordinate system to no avail; however, again when the file is imported using MAPIMPORT and saved as a drawing (with native data coordinate system) and then that drawing is queried from a drawing in a different coordinate system it seems to transform the coordinate system just fine. Is this a problem with data connect?
