I understand how to get a shape drawn in cross section view -- assign a shape to the area in the SA. I've done that but now I need/want to take the next step.
Using SAC, I created an SA that draws my RockFill but it only shows up in cross section view.
How do I spec that I want the shape to show in plan view too? the shape in plan view should be the daylight line on one side and the RockFill Line on the other side.

In inventor 2013 professional I have a problem using the section view in my assemblies files. When I active the section view it works well, as soon as I open a command (for example the measure of a distance) the section view disappear and the assembly appear in entire view.I didn't modified any configuration on my software.

Just got updated from IV 2012 to 2013 with a new Dell (yawn) workstation to boot. OK, I did a section view of a pretty complex assembly and when I tried to take a measurement, the section view just dissapeared and it went back to full view. One of the primary uses of using section views is to view / inspect / measure, that which cannot be seen in the normal full view.
Why did this break in 2013 ? and is there a patch to fix it ?

I am having an issue when producing a section view with my corridor. I have a corridor and corridor surface, as well as an existing ground surface. I create a sample line group and sample EG, Corridor Surface, and Material. When I produce a section view I get 4 sections in the view: EG, Corridor Surface(with the corridor surface naming convention), and an additional section simply called "Corridor Surface".
This last section is strange in that it seems to be using the correct assembly, but not targeting the correct features. Also it has grips at all of the vertices which I havent seen before.
And the strangest part, when I click on properties for this section and go to section data, the columns for Description and Data Source are blank.
If there is no data source, then where is this section coming from, and why is it showing up when I did not specify that it be created. This is a real mind boggler to me and makes no sense. Screenshot attached.

My future ground somehow disappeared out of one section view in my group. Under the section tabs I still have my existing ground and pipenetwork but the future ground isn't there. It remains in the other section views. How do I add it back?

I am running a corridor in Civil 3D 2012 that has two baselines. Issues with multiple baselines in section views, but understand this problem was eliminated in 2012? In any case, this does not seem to by my issue. Attached you will find a section view through the two baselines (one is for a general overlay, the second for widening). The section view seems to display correctly at station 3+75, but 25' feet further down the road it does not display the corridor assemblies correctly (as can be seen by the lack of a ditch and shoulder overlay in the second image).
I have checked the code styles to make sure all links are included, as well as the comparing section view properties. All settings and styles appear to be the same, and the corridor seems to be built correctly. If I sample the Finished Grade corridor surface, it displays in section view as if the ditch were there (see third image).

there is a command or simple procedure to actively view a section plane in an assembly or part. I know there are the static methods of using slice graphics and section view however I'm looking to create a live section where I am able to constantly move the plane through the model thus altering the live section as it appears on screen, similar to the way a model can be viewed in Tekla with the cut section command.

1. I had trouble with profile view of the alignment line shown. What step am i missing? Are there things that is turned off?
2. How can I best come up with the right volume to fill.
3. Do I need to learn the grading tools? or could i get buy with a section profile from the alignment. ( it is not even an alignment yet)
4. How to I render a rock fill in this cave-in.
The attached aerial image , has survey or cogo points that are imported to surface, to become surface points. . So I wanted to create a surface profile below and an outline of fill above it. Iideally the side profile would look like a trapezoid, where the base is the surface proile and top would be the design embankment.
But the reason , a surveying crew went down and took shots at the shoreline and a couple shots around the cave-in walls (higher elevation on the cave-in wall cannot be surveyed, although I coud have used a laser , did not) is so that a more accurate volume of the cave in can be obtained. I tried to label how far the road edge is from edge of the cave-in . Norice the higher elevations are the top edge around the cave in area.
The ouline for the embankment will be a mild slope then breaks to a more steep slope. like 4 :1 , then 1.5:1

(The sidewalk is existing and will be put back in the same place) I have an alignment and profile for the inside edge of sidewalk. (The inside edge of the sidewalk is the point I want to target). I have tried different targets and assemblies but get get anything to do what I need. Any way on assemblies and getting them to work in the sections?

I am doing public works type project. A simple road widening project. I created an alignment, surface, profile view and basic road assembly (from tool palettes) and corridor.
I created a corridor and referenced it to my "profile view", "alignment" and to "basic road" assembly. When I created section views, it shows only existing grade based on the surface and the basic road assembly is not showing on my sections. I can't figure out how to do it.

Is it possible to have XS sampled assemblies displayed on individual cross sections? I know that the sample line group properties control which assemblies are sampled and displayed. Say that assemblies A,B and C are sampled and displayed on sections from 0+00 to 3+00. Can ONLY assemblies A and B be displayed on sections from 1+50 to 2+00, and A.B and C on everything else?

I've built a corridor using only an Offset Assembly. The assembly represents a new path alongside an existing road and I wanted to use the centerline of the road as the main baseline. I have successfully built the corridor and was able to build the Sample Line and Sample Views. However, I am not able to view the sections in the Section Editor. As soon as I try to get into the Section Editor, I get the error message "No station found". The stations are large, 500+00 and up, so I tried changing the BOP to 0+00, but that had no effect. I tend to think it's a result of not having any subassembly attached directly to the main alignment, only to offset alignments. I'm running the 2011 version.

For example in one section I have my lane then my curb then no sidewalk then blvd. It is not the same in each section view either some are missing one thing while others are missing others.

I have yet to produce a profile. I created a polyline and turned it into an alignment.
Looking at alignment Sample(3), I see that it is not superimposed over your surface. The polylines are, but the alignment is not. That will disallow creation of a surface profile.
Is the sample5 an alignment that sits on the surface? how come there is still no profile?

I have a problem with point codes in section views in civil3d 2013. They are not showing at all. Drawing was made in civil3d 2012 and all point codes with defined styles were displayed correctly in section views and now they are all gone. Just link codes are shown. Is there something in setup of code styles that has to be changed?
Even if i set up new code and new label style it does not show up in section view after rebuild. Just in assembly.
If i do the same for link label it does show both in assembly and in section views.

I am a C3D newbie who used ground survey points (Serrano_EG_surface) that generated a Civil 3D surface. The white line is consist of arc segments that I turned into polylines and then into individual CL alignments. The first alignment ,which has its left and right offsets do not generate the profile view that I needed to be created. There was a prompt asking for a profile to choose, but I don't know where in the drawing or in the propector panel to click on.
1. Are the ground survey points good enough so that any alignments over the those areas can provide me a surface profile, a design profile, cross sections every 50 feet, so that I can submit a preliminary drawing for environmental permitting. ?
2. When I check the object browser, the aligments preceding each other are not in the same elevation it seems. Do I have to to transform each of the polylines first into a 3d polyline and then an alignment so that I can create a profile.
3. Eventually , I wish to connect all these alignments to model a 1.5 mile rural road (more like an access road to a water reservoir).
4. What's a best techniques to keep track of modeling a road.This question pertains to e.g the object browser as one of the useful aid. I've also used the inquiry tool but not used it for its full potential.

I am using C3D 2013, I have a corridor created using a Primary Road Full Section as my assembly, I have all the slopes and ditching set, when I go to model the corridor the ditching is not showing correctly, only small sections of the ditching are showing when I know there should be more. I have the assembly setup to build the ditching when there is less than a meter fill, but will not work.

We have a project where the alignment is not in the center of the section (it's along one edge of the project), but we want the Title Annotation ("STA. 165+00") to show up in the center of the sections.
If you choose "Center" justification in the style, it "centers" it about the zero offset, which in our case is actually the left side.
Is there any way to truly center this call, short of turning it OFF and manually creating separate labels?
Unfortunately, I can't use "Center" and give it a "Y" offset, because the alignment does vary slightly (±30 feet) within these 250' cross sections - which would cause the label to vary by that much also...

With ProfileView I can get Alignment Id.
pv= trans.GetObject(entRes.ObjectId, OpenMode.ForRead) as ProfileView; ObjectId idAlin = pv.AlignmentId;
Now, I want to do the same but for SectionView.
sv= trans.GetObject(entRes.ObjectId, OpenMode.ForRead) as SectionView;
but there isn´t : sv.AlignmentId;
Are there any ways to get Sample Line Group Id from section view either section view name or id?
I would like to get station value from selected section view by pick too.

I have a problem to set more bands in section view.
Normaly I word with 3 bands (existing elevations, designed elevations and the distances between them), but now I need another 2 bands:
1) is the diference between the top surface of the coridor and the existing surface
2) is the diference between the bottom surface coridor and the existing surface
I want ot ask maybe there is a setting to not let me make more bands?
In fact I make the 2 more bands but the Civil 3D 2012 and 2013 is not giveing me the data in these bands.
I uplloaded a picture for example to be more clear.

I am working on a drawing for the COE. They require that the horizontal scale is 1"=20 feet for cross sections. Unfortunately the sections that I need to cut are so long that they don't fit on the page. Currently I am creating multiple viewports in paper space and creating split section views in that way but it is starting to get out of hand.
Any better way to handle sections that won't fit on a page? I can't change the scale.
