AutoCAD Architecture :: Way To Desensitizes Grid Object?
Apr 27, 2012
Every time I hover near a column grid it auto selects and is crippling my workflow. I basically have to turn it off to work. Is there a way to desensitizes a grid object?
Typically If I want to change or select a grid I would just pick it. In ACA 2012 I can’t get near it or it selects itself.
I have been working with ADT 2012 for a month now, and I am missing the way that my crosshairs used to snap to a grid, even if a command is NOT active. If I am zoomed in close, I used to be able to have my pickbox/crosshairs snap to the 1" grid that I have set up. However, that I only works if I have a command like "LINE". What setting do I need to change to make this work the way it has for YEARS?
I'm using AutoCAD 2008 and trying to make a smart ceiling grid using the tools palette. The tool runs fine, however my grid doesn't show up in my drawing. I checked all my layers and they're fine. I think my ceiling grid visibility display is turned off.
Any command to turn it on? Checked the product, it gives me options to turn it on/off when it's already visible in a view, but this doesn't work since I can't see it at all.
I am having a problem with my grid lines F7 coming back on, there is no consistency or reason that I can see that might be turning them back on, I can be zooming in and out, stretching something, dimensioning something?
I just installed autocad architecture 2012. when i opened it to start creating a new drawing/project the unit of measurement was in Millimeters.. i needed the Unit of measurement to be in architectural units, so i used the units command to change it to architectural units. the problem i am having now is that i think the Grid Scale is still in MM. when i tried to draw a line on the grid the line appeared to be tiny. the length of the line was 36'-5". i adjusted the scale to 1/4"=1' but that didnt change anything. in order to see the line that i drew i have to zoom in so much..
How do i adjust the grid scale to be the same as the units?
I cannot seem to make the clng-grid appear on the "sheet." It is visible in the construct, and the view, but nothing I do makes it appear in the sheet once the view is placed.
I did modify Display Manager to show the grid on "medium detail" along with the other floor plan items in all 3 DWG's. Works fine in construct and view, no joy in sheet.
It won't even appear when I flip the vport to "reflected" or "reflected screened."
Is there an easy way to use space to generate a ceiling grid. My predicament is that when I create a space, the lines show up in Medium Detail and I have to switch to Reflected display configuration to see the grid. But when I am putting in the grid it asks me to choose the space, which is now not visible. Unless I change the display configuratiion, is there a way to pick the space while in the reflected display configuration.
Or better yet, is there a way to create a script that will toggle the space display on and off while in reflected.
I don't know why this isn't working for me today. I want to edit the Bay Size of my Ceiling Grid in one room. When I select the Grid..right click Properties and select the Bay Size, I can't seem to change the size.
I recently downloaded the trial version of Autocad Architecture 2013. I changed my main customization file to aca.cuix so that I would have the build panel. The build panel is now there, but it is not working. All the icons are questions marks and when I click on the ceiling grid icon it says 'unknown command'. How can I get the ceiling grid function to start working?
Using Architecture 2012 and seem unable to get a column grid to show automatically in elevation views. Looks fine in plan view, bubbles etc all working once we sorted out annotative setting .
Having trouble making a perfect alignment, 90 degrees, 180 degrees etc. When object is duplicated and rotated it appears to be out of alignment with original. Is there a finer control for snapping to grid/object without having to use increments or perhaps adjusting them?
how can i move or create object above the horizon when using the perspective grid? now when i create object on the botoom palne and try to move it above the horizon it just reaches the horizon and stops there. haow i am able to place objects on the top?
example: when i am creating a room from inside, a can create the floor an the walls, but not the ceiling?
How can I snap the center of an arbitrary symmetrical object to the grid? For instance the center of a circle or rectangle. According to this discusssion it's not possible: [URL]
How can I define a reference point in an arbitrary object or in a group of objects and snap this to the grid?
I have been following this tutorial: [URL] .... in which artwork is mapped to the perspective grid.
Towards the end of the video (7:00) a sign is mapped to the left grid then moved perpendicular along the right grid ... this is achieved by holding down the tilde key.
When I hold down the tilde key and move the object (which is selected with the perspective selection tool, with the correct grid selected ) it does not map it perpendicular as in the video.
I have deleted my illustrator preferences file (in case any settings were causing this feature not to work). Also if I create a new object and press the tilde key and drag I can create multiple instances, so the tilde key at least in this case is being recognized.
I am using AutoCAD Architecture 2012 and on multiple projects I have been working on I have been having objects randomly move when I rotate my view. The strange thing is that the grips still show up where the object is supposed to be. Below is a screen shot to explain what I am talking about.
We have a schedule tag for space objects created on our tool palette. When you use the Multiple option, you cannot do a window selection unless only spaces are visiable. If other object types are in the selection set, the program seems to get hung up... no error is produced... it just seems to spin relentlessly. We have to Cnt+Alt+Delete to get out of it. You cannot preselect the spaces and use 'P' for previous selection set, since the last selection set was the first one you selected to place the first shedule tag.
I thought I could create a tool to return the selection set to the select object prompt with the simple line of code, like this - this should work but does not:
(ssget "X" (list (cons 0 "AEC_SPACE")))
it returns the spaces to the prompt, but for some reason they get filtered out.Below is the command line snippet that shows multiple attempts...
Command: _AecScheduleTag Select object to tag: Specify location of tag <Centered>: Select object to tag [Multiple]: m Select objects to tag: (setq ss (ssget "X" (list (cons 0 "AEC_SPACE")))) <Selection set: 12dc> 7 found 7 were filtered out Select objects to tag: !ss <Selection set: 12dc> 7 found 7 were filtered out, 0 total Select objects to tag: !ss <Selection set: 12dc> 7 found 7 were filtered out, 0 total
Lately I've noticed a lag after picking an object where my crosshairs freeze and I'm unable to continue. This lasts for a fraction of a second up to 5 seconds or more. IT seems to happen most when I select a hatch object.
i every other 3d modelling software it is possible to add new edges to a face, but i cannot find a proper function for autocad.
Following technic i try to use.
I create an cube of face and want to extrude one little rectangle. But one face is to big, for my reason and so, i want to inside a new rectangle of edges into one faces, which is in the proper size for my extrusion.
Due o this example how cani ad adges to an object??
I would like to create a simple polyplane in the side view in Maya. When I try to do this nothing happens and the software suggests I start on the grid but you cannot see the grid in the side view.
Let say I have a pot of flower I drew in Illustrator and I want to place it on a Perspective grid so that I will have half of the drawing snap on Left Grid in the perspective and another half snap to Right Grid?
Is there any easy way to do this without first slicing the artwork in half and place them individually?
There are obvious reasons to limit the number of annotative scales while your drafting. I don't know that I'm aware of what file errors/issues can come about from using annotative scales. I've read where you should clean up the scales in your drawing but I'm not sure why?
I am working on a template for a project type (Residential). I have created all of my drawings, views, sheets, etc. I have a View drawing set up for a site plan - where I include some m-text regarding the survey and site plan information. I want to create fields that reference the Surveyor's Name, the Survey Date and the Project Address.
I tried creating custom properties in the project, but it appears that fields that reference the project properties only update on the sheet views in paper space. Is there a way of creating drawing specific fields in model space where I can input some data and them extract it in a field in model space that is quick and easy (as opposed to creating some type of MVB)?
Is there a way to lock the material of an object, ie wood grain on a stud, so if the stud is rotated, the material stays in the original orientation to the object instead of stay relative to the world?
When selecting an AEC and going to the properties dialogue box I no longer have items showing up in the prpoerties like cleanup group, size, or endpoint type. It only has the general tab and 3d visualization. I did a repair from the uninstall software fromn control panel. I also rebooted. I don't want to do a reinstall becuase of customizations. I have vista Ultimate operating system.
I have a problem with my brush and pencil tool. Whenever I want to draw an object without a stroke and just a fill, it immediately assigns me a stroke in either the colour my fill is, or, if I'm using a gradient, in black. It doesn't have that problem with the pen tool though. I also checked in my presettings and my Transform plaette that the "Align to Pixel Grid" option is unchecked. Also, the "New Art has basic appearance" is unchecked.
Autocad Architecture 2012: my dwg is fully visible in 3D View but partially visible in plan View. What could be causing this problem? See screen shot attached.
When I apply a material to a mass element the material follow the world UCS, that's ok with me. But when i rotate the mass element the material map remains with the world UCS but not with the object.
How to lock the material map to the object when I rotate it.
it sure is useful to be able to get to the rest of the object properties that are there but hidden from property sets.
May 18, 2007 ADT Window Style Type in a PSD Filed under: visitmycarfeed, drivemy cars, minicartag, internet — wilhemina947judith @ 5:38 pm
The Window Type for a windows style is not available as an automatic property. So a bit of VBScript is needed. Create a PSD (Property Set Definition) that applies to Windows styles and add the automatic property Handle. Then add the formula below. Notice that [Handle] in the formula must be selected from the “Insert Property Definitions” list. In the code

I have already wrote the code to get the elevations of ceilng grid objects, diffusers and lights in autocad MEP 2008. Now to get this to work for basic hatch objects that we like to use for gyp ceilings...
