Is there a way to save images as a part of the dwg file?
Copying and pasting images to AutoCAD requires keeping these images in their places to avoid missing them in the dwg file
Is there a way to save these images in the file to become as a part of the file itself the same way we do in the Word and Arcgis?
I am working on the part builder tutorials for AutoCAD Civil 3D 2014. Every time I click "Save Part Family", I get the error message "Error Saving XML File".

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am currently working on a school group project that requires me to submit all inventor files as "LASTNAME_FIRSTNAME_PART,ASSY,DRAWING,etc..NAME". My original parts were all done in mm instead of cm, so for our project, I opened all new files and derived the same parts at a different scale to fix this scale issue between the members. For the new derived parts I temporarily allowed the file name to remain as part1, part2, part3.... and continued with the assembly. Now that my assembly is complete and I would like to change my part file names to the required format, my assembly will not show the parts and (?) symbol is shown by all parts with updated file names. I also changed the original file names and now the new derived parts, when opened, have the same (?) which I assume is related to the fact that the derived parts are dependent on the original file. Is there a way to update this information? We are using INVENTOR 2013.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI noticed that my computer was slowing up, BIG time. This thing's got dual quad core Xeon, 12gb DDR3, ATI FireGL V8600, etc. I could hear it processing something constantly and as I was in CAD I couldn't really do anything. When I opened the task manager and looked at the processes, "accoreconsole. exe" (an AutoCAD component) was using 10.5gb of memory. On my performance tab, my memory was maxed at 11.5gb for at least a half hour.
Today, I dealt with it all day long by ending the process whenever I'd notice it on the list of processes, or if the computer suddenly began to lag. I've also been having trouble with Dropbox. Not sure if this would at all be related but, if I try to save a file to a shared dropbox folder, it gets to 81% and freezes with the (Not Responding) message up top. I can save just fine to my network folder though.
Is it possible to link one part file dimension to another part file?
1. Part first is a cylinder in parametric table i changed it,s name OD , ID and thk. ( find attachment )
Cylinder ID is ( ID=105)
2. Then i made 2 nd part whose step od ( od=102) is going to insert in to cylinder id.There is 3 mm clerance every time
3. So i have to make equction in 2 nd part that ( Step OD= ( ID-3).
means next time when i will change ID of cylinder OD of 2 nd part will ger changed automatically minus by 3 mm than id of cylinder.
Is there any command to send to back all images in a DWG file, like it is HATCHTOBACK for hatches?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am trying to optimize some images for web to have a smaller file size. I am using "Save for Web" feature, and every time I try to save a file, the actual file output size is a lot bigger than the size it shows on the "Save for Web" dialog.
For example, I have a 607 bytes .gif, when I open "Save for Web" it shows 207 bytes for 16-colors but when I save it the output file is 1.22 kb.
Dear Sir, In particular project, when I insert part in Assembly file, It is inserted as a Tube & Pipe run part. so that It is not Grounded automatically. What is the settings by which I can insert as a normal part in assembly file ? I have attached herewith the JPG file also.

Part created in assembly does not update to part file.
The simple question is… how can we insert a step (stp) part into an existing part file?
The story behind the question is this:
Normally when we get a step file assembly from a customer, if the part has changed, we put our part into Old Versions and save their new step file as our ipt number and replace it in our assembly file. With Vault, in order for us to maintain the history of the part files, we need to keep the original file so we can’t just delete it or replace it, so now we need to figure out how to get a step file into an ipt. The Import command on the Manage tab (with 2013 at least?) does not allow import of stp files just yet.
The only other option I can think of is to put the original part into an assembly with the step file, create a copy of the step information in the part file and use it to recreate the new (step based) part.

I started out with a single 3 dimensional piece i had made using sketches, and split it into two using the split feature under the modify tab. Now I would like to take each of those two pieces and copy them into their own individual part files. I could do this by remaking them, but was wondering if I could simply copy and paste them into separate files.

They are using AutoCad 2013. out of 20 or so drawings several drawings when opening with 2013 open up with Errors requesting recovery is required due to any number of errors ranging from 3 to 7 on average. The error message asks [yes] to recover and it aborts or [no] to continue and the drawing opens ok without further error. If I recover the drawings, and save-as 2013 or other, the same errors appear regardless. However if I open the same drawings using my version of 2009, I didn’t get any errors. The original drawings were compatible with 2009 without conversion.

Save in AutoCAD 2013 Drawing format?' this has annoyed me for years!
I have set it as default DXF 2014 for a good reason I don’t want a prompt asking me if I want to then save it as 2013 or I would have set it like that on my default setting, gets on your nerves when you are doing 100's of files.

I could not print, save, make any changes to one particular drawing which was created ion Autocad 2013. Whenever I tried to work on the file attached error message pops up and Autocad program gets closed.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have the student version of AutoCAD 2012 on an HP laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium OS. I originally installed AutoCAD in June of 2012. It worked fine for 9 or 10 months but now whenever I select File/Open, File/Save, or File/Save As, AutoCAD stops responding and the spinning blue donut appears. AutoCAD never comes back and I have to close it from Task Manager. I uninstalled AutoCAD and reinstalled it, and the process went smoothly. However I still have exactly the same problem with the File operations. I apply Windows updates, but other than that have not made any changes to the software on the laptop. AutoCAD works fine for everything except the File operations. I am able to save with CTL/S and am able to open AutoCAD files from File Manager.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to take a 3" sq 11 gauge tube that will have a pie shaped cut out of the tube leaving only one wall remaining. The tube then will be bent until the two sections are mated and welded. The tube is going to be processed on a tube laser to have the features cut out.
The problem is when I bend the tube in inventor I need a straight version of the tube for cad/cam programming and fabrication and not have it affect the bend feature that is placed in the weldment. I do no want to derive a part and save a separate version in the vault. I would like it all to be in one model.
I try to create a view representation and name it "straight" and suppress the bend feature in the new representation but it changes in both representations of the part.
Is there a way to have two different view representations of the part (suppressed bend feature, unsuppressed bend feature) that I can switch between?
When we send 3D models to customers, we always derive the assembly to make it 1 solid part, so the customer cannot disassemble it to copy our product, and then save it as a step file.
I want to Derive an assembly to a part and then save it as a *.step file with an ilogic rule.

I would like to create an effect similar to punching/stamping something in wet sand. Picture this... you have a punch/stamp and it says "Hello". You punch it into the wet sand at the beach and it keeps the form of the punch/stamp. You can see the interior angles/shapes, but not the exterior as it is part of the rest of the beach I want to be able to create that effect in a graphic/drawing.
If you want to look at it another way:
Say you have a glass. You also have a hole in the table to hold the glass. Once in the hole, you see only the very top of it and the inside of the glass... but that which is below the table is not seen. If looked at from above, you can see the interior that is below the table, but not the exterior.
I can't figure out if underlays are part of a layer/connected to a specific layer or another thing altogether.
