View 3 RepliesI have browsed one file in meters from Pythagoras to dwg. When I opened it with Civil 3D the drawing units become feet. Where is the problem and how can I convert the whole drawing to meters?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have made a landscape model in meters as units in the modeling area. Now, when I want to scale the drawing in the paper layouts, within the viewport, it seems to me like it's scaling as if the drawing was done with millimeters as units.
I think this might have been caused by me starting to draw, thinking I was plotting in with meters as the unit, but then found that it was set as millimeters. I changed the unit setting for the model to meters and that seemed to work fine. But I'm guessing it didn't work.
I have tried using the INSUNIT command and it says the drawing is in 6, which is meters, so why is it scaling as if it was in millimeters on an A3 layout?
I would like to change the conversion factor of meters to feet to a more accurate value rather that 0.3048. In my place we use the meter to feet conversion with 3.2808333. It makes a lot difference when the decimals does not carry up to 7 decimal place.

How do you change this?
I'm unfolding a 30x40x2 mm square tube for tube laser. The tube is imported from STEP format.
The flat pattern is 1,5 mm too narrow - even when I increase the K-factor to 1,0.
Is there any work around to get a wider flat pattern.

In my drawing I have set my UCS to a gridline (I'm drawing up a survey from a construction site), named the ucs 'square' and then set Plan view to Current so that it is nice and square to the screen. I saved the drawing in this plan view.
However, when I reloaded the drawing this morning, my 'square' plan view has become 'World'. Also my 'square' UCS has disappeared from the list of UCS's. I thought this was just a funny bug so I typed 'UCS' followed by 'w' hoping the world UCS would go back to the real one, but nothing happened. As far as I know it is not possible in ACAD to rename, alter or in fact do anything to World UCS (for good reason), but this is what ACAD appears to have done all by itself.
Luckily I have all the site gids saved in their 'world' orientations so I can get round it by a simple bit of copybase/paste/rotate, (but it means my dimension text is all going to be skewiff).
As a caveat I should add that I am a very exprienced ACAD user (7years) and regularly work in 3D in all kinds of views and UCS's and I've never had this happen before.
The pickbox keeps turning into a rectangle and not a perfect square. It's width is less than its height. This keeps happening and is annoying. When I close AutoCAD 2012 and then reopen the drawing its a square, but soon turns into a rectangle.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm using AutoCAD Mechanical 2010 and received a .DXF file that contains 'solid' objects. Unfortunately the next tool in my workflow doesn't understand 'solids' only polylines (and a few other basic shapes like circles, lines, etc). Is there some way to convert the object in AutoCAD?
I tried the 'boundary' command but when it asks to 'Pick Points' and I click inside the solid, it always gives the error 'Valid hatch boundary not found'.

I am doing some layout work for a client. Very basic, 9m display stand background. Needs a few images and logo's dropped in. Have a couple of basic questions I am a bit stuck on.
1 - I understand 300DPI is standard print. I read about 150 being ok. What is the norm for images of this size?
2 - I have some images that I could really do with scalling up. They are PSD format. FOr something of this size do you think it would be acceptable to scale up to maybe double the size?
I have used the digital color meter in apples os to find rgb colors in a image. I was trying to find one that would give me the closest cmyk equvelent to the web color on my clients site.
The problem is that i used a hex value in Photoshop to create the colors on a bizcard. but all of them came out darker that desired. This is the second time it has happened. I am starting to believe that hex values and cmyk are not friends.
I do not have 500+ dollar for a new screen. I own a LG 2750 that was as close to an apple monitor ad i could see (compared with the naked eye and some gradients as a baseline). This monitor makes everything look brighter than it is so i compensat for that by making things slightly brighter than what my eye preceves is right. My othe screen is its opposite, making every thing darker.
This why i was needing a meter that would allow me to see the cmyk formula for the pixel i am hovering over. I would also wnat it to tell me whether this was a already a native cmyk formula (native to its range) or if it was just a closest estimation.
way to increase my Pixel Per Meter on CS3 to be able to use really small FONT with out them getting pixilated.
