I recently received an autocad drawing with a number proxy entities in it. They exploded ok. However by exploding them am I losing any properties that may be useful. And what really are proxy entities?
I received a drawing from an outside contractor that uses something with proxy entities. I can see them just fine on the screen but when I try to plot the drawing they disappear. It also came from a newer version so I had to use the DWG True View to convert it if that may have caused my issue.
Just a follow up to the inquiry on the Flatten command. Is there a way to use set all entities in a drawing to elevation 0? like moving them all to Z=0 like the flatten command but all entities in one command including blocks, hatches, etc.
I have several hundred drawings that I needed to update the Title Block on. I used Toolpac to Redefine the blocks, then Scriptpro to run a simple script to ATTSYNC the blocks. This was all done in AutoCAD Map 3D 2012. Now, when my users open the drawings with AutoCAD LT 2012, they get a proxy graphics warning. I opened a drawing in AutoCAD 2012 as well and the proxy warning came up there too so I know it's not just LT. I assume it has to do with AutoCAD Map, however when I've run the same sort of processes (updating title block) from the command line in Map 3D, the proxy graphics aren't introduced.
I am unsure how to determine what proxy graphic was introduced. I've tried a lsp to delete the proxy but it says none was found.
I am trying to make a button such that if the user clicks it, AutoCAD will automatically draw a border that just includes all entities in the drawing.(Something) like the viewport border in the paper space)
Approach #1: The first approach could be zoom extent and draw a border around the zoomed view. how to zoom extent and draw a polyline, but can't figure out the exact size of zoomed view.
Approach #2 (optimal) : If the entity is a right circle and my AutoCAD window is not in square shape (for example, the AutoCAD window is maximized and my monitor is wide-screen monitor), Approach #1 will create redundant spaces at the right and left side of the circle entity. So if I could get the grid coordinate of far left, far right, top, and bottom entities, I can draw the optimal border around all entities in the drawing.
I have a dxf file that consists of multiple rectangles (filled). I need to keep the X-Y position of each rectangle / entity the same but scale the size of the rectangle.
So for example, scale by -10%. If its a filled rectangle centered at (1,1) size (2,2) I need it to be centered at (1,1) and size (1.8, 1..
DXF is a text file and I can write a piece of VBA code to go through, decode the text, find the rectangles, scale, save the text file back to DXF.
I key in "Crtl A" and this selects ALL objects/entities that exist, however some of these objects/entities are not visible nor are they selectable. How can I run a "Crtl A" and once ALL objects/entities get highlighted and their grips are displayed .. How can i remove the ones that are outside of my drawing extents.
I have a command which proccess entities in the drawing and creates a SelectionSet. But, on the drawing i do not see the selected objects . I need to show grips on selected objects . It is a looks like a Quick Select command. What can i do? What method showing the grips?
I created a drawing where I created a grading object (pad) under a site, a couple of alignements, etc.
After deleting everything to maintain layer states and settings, I saved the drawing as a starting template for day to day drawing (left it as a dwg, not dwt)
When I start a new drawing from a saveas of the template, it says that there is already a grading group named 'pad' but there isn't anything shown in the prospector. Purge hasn't worked. Any ghost entities left in a drawing.
I've also noticed that if you screw up a grading and try to delete the entire site and start over...you get weird results too. It's like it remembers old stuff you did (ghost entities) and won't let you start with a clean slate.?

im used to opening up two drawings simultaneously, and i used to drag & drop entities with one another but for some strange reason i cannot do this drag & drop thing anymore with my drawings, i tried to use ccleaner to clean up the clipboard, tried searching it here and googling it but still cannot find any clue.
Mediastudio 5 pro ultimate Win7 64 AMD 960T on six cores Asus M5A78L M LX + 8 GB HD 3000 integrated graphics OS is installed on a 128 MB SSD Project target file is on a 500GB WD Blue.
I have ripped a Blue Ray DVD as an .m2t, at an average bit rate of about 18.5 Mb/sec, with a resulting file size of over 16GB. Needles to say this file bogs the machine when not running the proxy. When I finish a session and close the program, the proxy file is gone the next time I open the project. The same thing happens when the machine goes to sleep with the project open. I have to either slog through working directly on the project without the proxy while it slowly rebuilds, or wait a couple of hours for the rebuild to complete.
Any way to stop the file from being deleted? I went to power options and selected never, but the next day it was gone again.
Another thing would be to increase the speed of the proxy creation, as it only uses about 20% of the CPU. Better to get it done faster... I have tried raising the priority of the process to high with little if any change.
I know through the block command you can write out a selection of entities to a single drawing. But what I am wondering is if it is possible to have two drawings open, and transfer data quickly between the two?
As an example as we are detailing an assembly we create a title block around a detail, put dimensions and notes on as needed and would then like that to be transfered into another drawing next to the previously transfered detail drawing.
Any method to export text to excel such that the text is editable within excel?
I have a column of text (each text line is an individual mtext entity) and I would like them to appear in a column format in excel where each mtext entity has it's own cell.
I was wondering if there is a way to change multiple entities of Mtext. I tried CHT but the options are limited. Is there a way of say changing the color?
I want to know if there is a command that passes all entities (lines, text, etc.) to a single layer, but that the institution holds the color and line style assigned according to the original layer that contained it.
I want to import my excel table to autocad. but when i try to do this, the table is not correctly import. Im using paste special command and past to link. if i paste my file excel, image and other formats, i can not plot my draw. i attach my excel file.
Note: i found a software that name is auto table. but its 150$. we don't want to buy an other software.
Is there an easy way to remove all the wipeouts in a drawing without deleting the entities they are attached to?
I have hundreds in some drawings, so I am trying to do a mass editing through lisp, but it won't remove just the wipeout, the text grouped with it gets deleted too.
I am running AutoCAD 2012 Electrical. The source wiring diagrams I am working with have attributed blocks all over the drawing. For my purposes, I dont need to export the data, but I do need to change the drawing. When I use "Burst" or "Explode Attributes to Text" in the Express Tools menu, it does change the attributes to text. However, it throws all the data that is in in the attribute all over the face of the drawing. This is extremely time consuming to delete them as some are micro small text.
I need a command that will explode the attributes to text, turning the blocks into entities, as if there are no blocks at all.
A line is drawn parellel to the X-axis. What I have been doing all of my career to lengthen this line, by say 3 inches, is select the line, pick the grip I want to lengthen, drag that grip in the general X direction, type the value 3 at the command promt, and hit enter. Voila, done.
Now what AutoCAD is doing, is bringing the grip (yup, ortho is stll on) to exactly where my curser is, totally disregarding the ortho setting AND the value in typing at the comand prompt.
Eventually after I copy and paste with the clipboard enough times within one drawing, the ability goes away and I can no longer copy and past one item from one drawing to a separate drawing. I need to use the clipboard function because that is the only way of getting an item from one drawing to another.
I have download a clear clipboard function but it doesn't work. Closing CAD and restarting does not reinstate the function.
My Autocad has started a new behavior. When (in Win7) I double-click on a drawing file in Windows Explorer, Autocad opens the drawing file and also starts a new drawing, all in the same session of Autocad. Is there some system variable or Windows variable that controls this?
I realize it may be a Civil3D question. When I change my drawing scale in the "Drawing Settings" dialog box to 1"=40', for example. The Annotative scale in the Properties Palette changes to 1"=40'_XREF.
I'm doing a program in Visual Basic 2010. In one of the forms I put a button that when clicked must open AutoCAD 2012 and make a drawing in it. The user will decide where to save it.The steps are these:
1. I added the references Autodesk.AutoCAD.Interop and Autodesk.AutoCAD.Interop.Common to the Visual Basic Project. That's OK.
Dim acadApp As New AcadApplication 'Create an instance of an AutoCAD Application AcadApp.Application.Visible = True 'Show the instance of the AutoCAD Application Dim acadDoc As AcadDocument 'Create an intance of an AutoCAD Document acadDoc = acadApp.Documents.Open("C:Respaldo TesisDibujo2.dwg") 'Open a Document called Dibujo 2 'Draw a line Dim PT1(2) As Double [code].....
When i start up AutoCAD C3D 12, this dialog box is pop up " This drawing was created with a newer version of Civil 3D. All entities created by Civil 3D within the drawing are in a proxy state..............are disabled for this drawing." I just started an AutoCAD, Not open any drawing yet!
How do i turn this message off? (permanently)
P.S. It just happened recently since the IT guy changed some variables on my machine, but no clue what variables he changed?
I am working with AutoCAD 2012 LT and initially received a message concerning proxy graphics that listed a number of options for viewing when opening a drawing from another source (that was from another and another, etc). At that time, I believe I chose show proxy graphics, however, I can no longer get that original message to appear, which I think told me which enablers were missing. I now get a message regarding the drawing to be compatible by exploding AEC objects or loading proxy objects enabler. I am stuck, walls have text in them, doors are shown closed.
- I have tried opening the original file again, but no longer receive the original proxy graphics message, just the New version of objects in drawing message. Can I ever get the original message back, have I somehow changed my settings?
-If I change the settings for proxyshow or proxygraphics, these items will disappear.
I’ve already tried to purge and audit the file and delete every object that I can find that may be a proxy but it still shows up every time I open the file
Is there any way for me to QSELECT or remove the object that is causing me problems
I do have the enablers on so I can see the object problem is there so many objects I don’t know where to start looking.
Most individual want to remove the Proxy Information Dialog Box. I already understand how to turn this off PROXYSHOW/PROXYNOTICE/PROXYGRAPHICS. What I'd like to know is where the data that is displayed in the Proxy Information Dialog Box comes from? Is there a way to get this information after the fact (as in, after I've closed the dialog box, but while the current drawing is open)?
What are proxy graphics and why cant I view them?!....trying to view a site layout drawing and half of it is missing, the person who sent me it uses draft sight rather than AutoCAD has that got anything to do with it?
