3ds Max :: Normal Map Not Applying To Model

I'm playing around with some video game models in 2011, but my efforts at applying textures are being foiled by this bizarre issue with the Normal Bump (see attachment).

Namely, it isn't showing in the renderer, despite being properly applied (as far as I can tell). I've downloaded Service Pack 2 and Hot Fix 4 for 2011, and fooled around with settings like "amount," but nothing seems to affect the render quality.

Photoshop :: 5.5 Extended 3DS Model - How To Place Correctly Sized Graphics On Model

I've created a 3D product model in an application that does not have any text capabilities (Autodesk Inventor Fusion 2013). I'm trying to get that model into AfterEffects (AE) via the Photoshop live object technique.
 
But before I open it in AfterEffects, in Photoshop CS 5.5 Extended, I'm trying to add the product text graphics to the "Diffuse" layer of the model so, when animated in AE, all the text moves with the appropriate perspective, etc.
 
For the life of me I can't figure out how to format the text to fit the model.
 
Fusion saves files natively to .DWG format, but they appear non-standard and without some key data.
 
I was able save the file as a "STEP" file .stp, then translate to .3DS format. That file results in a model that opens just fine in Photoshop and when saved in .psd format, and opened in AE as a Photoshop Live object, works fine. I can't image getting the text on the surface in AE would be easier/better than Photoshop.
 
Each time I double click on Layer 1's Diffuse (texture) sub-layer (is that the correct term?), I can put some text in the new window, but the scale is always way wrong, the orientaion is 90 degrees off (counter clockwise), and the text is clearly trying to wrap and repeat all around the model. I'm just trying to get a set of text (several pieces in different locations - company name, product name, some small additional text) on one side of the surface bound as if it were part of the model.

As an aside, I did try to add the 3D model, converted to a .DAE file, to presets > meshes as suggested in the help files, so I could treat it like one of the 3D object presets, and add the text that way.
 
No matter what I do I can't get the mesh to appear in the pre-set list. I don't see any way to "activate" the mesh other than place the file in .DAE format in that folder. Yes, I've exited and re-started Photoshop many times.

I just got back from maternity leave and I left work at Autocad 2011 and came back on Autocad 2013. I work thru my viewports in my model space, and I've noticed that when I pan and zoom in or out or move to quickly from one point to another (didn't notice which) my model space swaps to paper even if I'm in a command. Is this something I can deactivate?

My problem today is that I made a Model of a Part of a ship using surfaces rather than solids because the engineer thought it would be easier to bring into ANSYS program for analysis but he is now having a problem with it and I am looking into converting my current model to solid. I can do it but the method I thought of using is quite long winded and we are working to a tight deadline.

1.open up the surface part

2.use "Offset/Thicken"

3.any clashes between parts make a sketch and cut away.

the problem is the amount of plates I have and the time it takes to sort them out.

AutoCad :: Scaling Is Different In Viewport When Working On Model Than Model Space?

I then change to my A0 template on a different tab in the same drawing, size up the model in model space within the viewport (everything still fine), then as soon as I scale the model to 1:200 the icons I've added to the drawing (I say icon it's one particular group of icons - CCTV camera icons I've made and added) suddenly become massive and three times the size.

If I add them when already at 1:200 they're fine but it only seems to do this when I actually scale the drawing.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Rotate 3D Model In Model Space?

Basically I've got a detail specific to my design, I've extruded all of the layers up to their desired levels etc, but now I want to be able to rotate it all so that instead of these layers being orientated vertically, they are orientated horizontally, if that makes sense. I understand that there is something involved with the UCS but I'm not sure how to get this to work. This may be an issue with my computer as I know my laptop graphics card is pretty rubbish and impacts a lot of 3d programs such as Rhino and SketchUp so this could be the issue here

I started with a plane and then was connecting vertices to expand the plane. All the new vertices show more than one normal comming off it. I have checked and their is only 1 vertex at each of the points that are sprouting like 3 normal lines per vertex now.Unify normals removed them but still wondering.

Ever since I installed CS4 Suite with Photoshop Extended, my Photoshop would crash as soon as I open a file. This would not happen if I am logged on as administrator on my Windows XP, but any other type of profile has the problem.

I tried: reinstallation, clearing the Photoshop preference file, testing whether some startup service is causing it, and created new user profiles, but neither helped.

Since, I did not have this problem with the CS3 suite, I assume that CS4 tries to do something that only administrators are allowed, but what?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Section Of A Model As Its Own Model

I am currently using AutoCAD Civil 3D 2010 for surveying work and have been trying to figure out how to use part of an existing survey of land model.  I have it in a layout (paper space) and used a viewport to get the section I am after but there are some changes in labeling and minor model modifications needed to make it a stand alone model and I do not want to modify the original model to make these changes.  How can I take a section like I have in view port and make it into its own model with a different scale so the changes can be made and the original model is left in tact?

Photoshop :: Why Does Photo Look Normal In Adobe RAW

uninstalled all my Nikon viewing etc software and it cleared up. Haven't changed anything since then, but it just started doing it again. Photo looks normal in Adobe camera raw, but when opened from there into CS6 it becomes highly color banded and cartoonish looking. On some pictures it's only happening in the brighter, highlight areas, in others the whole picture is affected. I'm using a high end Alienware computer and didn't have any issues for about the first year, my graphics card drivers are up to date, will check on monitor drivers next I guess.

Photoshop :: Brush Lag After Every 4 Or So Normal Strokes In CS6

I was getting brush lag for a few days after installing CS6. every 4 or so normal brush strokes, the brush would start to lag. And after a few lagging strokes it would go back to normal and then repeat itself.
 
The first thing I did was delete the work spaces that I never use (I doubt that fixed the problem).
 
Second thing I did was turn the cache levels to 1 and set image previews to "never save" (found this tip online, didn't fix the lag problem but I still kept those settings anyway).
 
The third thing (and what I believe fixed the problem) was going to "performance" in Photoshop, clicking on the advanced settings for your graphics processor and turning the drawing mode from advanced to basic. 
 
I never had to do this on cs4 which is why it took a few days of tinkering around to fix the problem.

...adding effects in VS x5 pro. I just downloaded the trial after upgrading to a new laptop running windows 7 and was told I could not use my videostudio 11 or moviefactory 6 plus. So I have video that I imported from my SDHC card in high def, it played fine until I started adding a crossfade and a couple of slow motions. Now, every video had no sound. I have tried deleting them and bring them back in, but still no sound. It will play music over the tracks, but I have lost all my original sound. I thought I would be able to add some music and lower the original soundtrack at certain points, letting it fade in and fade out, allowing for the original audio to play through and along with the music. I am pretty dissapointed right now and need some answers. Also what happened to the moving menus? I am confused with the templates as well... begininng, middle end or complete. Is that instead of moving menus? Can I not make a moving thumbnail menu with music and chapters?

CorelCAD :: Normal Z - Different Values In Field

I use CorelCAD 2013 and the software seems perfect to me. But now i realized a huge problem. I only use CAD in 2D Mode. When i make the drawings i have different Z Values in the Field "Normal Z". I don't know why CorelCad does this. I never put in a Z Value.  

Is the Normal Z Value editable? When i export the Drawing to my cam system the drawing is disarranged but only all Values with different Z. Normally the value is zero but she lines are -1...?

I use Corel DRAW for writing articles in Telugu ( a South Indian language)I have been using X4 from 2008 on-wards.This is how I do it.

I use Edit PLus Version 2 for data entry...no formatting at this stage.Then , I copy and paste it it in Corel DRAW.Formatting for font, line breaks, paragraph breaks etc. is done in DRAW.Then I ‘Publish to PDF’ and I get very clean PDF file....absolutely no issues.The fonts are developed by local vendor and are Type 1 format. I never print them.

Some of my recipients have printed on laser printers.They too had no problems.I send them as attachments with my emails.

About two months ago, I purchased and started using X6.Here the PDF file appears very faint.

The same thing happened with X5 also.I am not able attach same PDF files as they are around 1 MB ...with the same text and all other parameters.

I've been using Blender a lot recently, and, not wanting to front the money to buy a Normal Map generation program or (oh dear) use GIMP of all things, I decided to try creating a Normal Map in Paint.NET.
 
What is a Normal Map, you ask? Normal Maps are images that are used in conjunction with a texture to give the texture false 'depth', allowing, say, light to shine onto the bricks in a texture while not getting into the cracks between, or making light come from a specific side.

Not the best, as you can clearly see.
 
How could I make improvements? Is this even practical?

I created a normal map in mudbox for baking in maya but when i bake it on the face, it has some distortions. I tried to correct whatever i cud in photoshop but there are still parts which look very patchy. My question is, whats the proper way to correct such kind of patches though i have tried hard in photoshop. 3ds Max Modeling :: Combining Normal Maps

Im having a bit of an issue combining normal maps. Basically I am taking 3 normal maps that were rendered from a normal bake from three separate portions of the model... Using Photoshop i duplicate the layers over into a single file to avoid any overlapping or offsetting the maps, when previewing it inside MAX it does something crazy instead.

The maps display completely wrong even through the resolution and ratios are exactly the same. I have lined them up int the UV editor to verify. Do alpha maps in fact play a role im properly displaying combined maps (separating them from each other in a single file)? If this is the case, then how to i properly copy the alphas over into a single file using Photoshop?
