I was really excited to find that Max 2013 was able to import a range of CAD files, namely STEP.
Well, the good news is the import works well and the Body Objects look nice. The bad news is that there is no option at import time to specify course settings for the viewport display mesh. No problem I thought, I'll change them to "course" with the Body Utility and that should speed things up. Max crashed evertime I tried to do this, even with just 2 or 3 items selected.
Having given up with importing STEP, I tried the same assembly as a SAT file (about 100Mb). Importing SAT does give you the option to set the viewport model to a course setting (which is good) but only provides a marginal increase in speed. On the whole the model is unworkable. You can't select the component you want as the system will select some other part that you don't want and the lag is just unbelievable.
To put things into perspective I've used Max 2011 to import huge (1GB+) Formula One engine assemblies using nPower's Power Translators plugin. On the whole it worked well, I was able to work relatively fast and got the job done. While I understand that the Body Object is a subset of the nPower plugin, I think the implementation into Max 2013 has gone wrong somewhere.
My pain-free solution is to stick with Max 2011 until 2013 gets fixed, which is a shame as I really wanted to embrace the new version into my work.
I am working in a custom project. 30fps (progressive). My quicktimes begin at frame 0. When I look at the files in quicktime, the frames are there. When I import the files into premiere CC. the first 2 frames are not viewable and my imported clip begins at frame 2. Is this a settings thing?
Deleting temp files, if I can just do a blanket Erase, or will this potentially damage autocad drawings. My temp file is on my local drive, but all of our drawings are stored on a network drive. It seems to me I remember these things storing up over time with crashes, etc. But as they build up performance seems to dwindle.
These files range from .tmp files to Texture folders, .cvr files, and nonsense names like A$C5DCD5F31.Can I just window and Delete All?
I am an archaeologist working with survey equipment and Map3D for a few years but now I have the following problem.
When I import the shapefiles created in my leica/topcon equipment into Map3D (mapimport) there is the possibility to select which attributes are going to be imported with an import profile file (.ipf).
How do I create the above and save it so that I do not have to go through the same process again?
I am currently using a Nikon D7100 and recording my photos in the Raw/NEF-RAW format. Recently, whenever I am uploading my photos to Lightroom 5, my photos are changing to .dng files rather than staying in the NEF file. When I go and look back at my previous imports from the past few times, they are in NEF and NOT in .dng. Why is this doing this and how do I turn this feature off so that my files remain the same going from my camera to my computer through importation.
I just upgraded to a 5D and LR4.. when I import the files load as CR2 files, not DNG files. When the files import it takes 4 files to find them. It also will not recognize the file names in the library. How do I fix this to import like it did in LR 3??
I've searched these forums for any "how to's" and found some info, but either it was over my head as to the fix or it delt with different video file formats or error messages.
The short version:
I have a fresh install of X4 on a 64 bit Windows 7 (Pro) and I'm trying to import *.MTS video files into the timeline but keep getting "File format Mismatch 1081:1:3" errors. I've copied the files from the SD card to the harddrive. I've also tried renaming the file(s) extensions from MTS to M2TS, AVI, MPG, and still get the error.
The long winded version:
I had X4 on a 32 bit PC for a long time. Installed Panasonics AE reader software that came with the HDC-SDT750 camcorder. X4 could recognize the MTS files and import them into the timeline. The PC motherboard failed so I got new motherboard and decided to do a fresh install of the 64 bit version of Win 7 Pro on a clean harddrive. Did a fresh install of X4. Then installed all Windows and X4 updates and patches.
When I try to insert a MTS video clip (file) into the timeline from either the SD card or harddrive I get the error message "File format Mismatch 1081:1:3". I can play the video files through windows media player (No matter what I've changed the file extesion to) and the video and sound play fine. I can also insert any other video file into a timeline except MTS files (New or older ones). With X4 up and running and searching for which video file to insert I can see the MTS video preview thumbnail in the file explorer window.
The video clips are 1920X1080 at 29 fms and a bit rate of 16794kbps
I can't find the Panasonic software disk and the best that I can tell Panasonic does not have their software online for download.
I will need some hand holding here so I'll need more step by step instructions than "Get the latest codecs" (Whatever that means)
This is very troubling. I work with Autocad files, currently Acad 2010 is being used in the office.
I'm trying to import a siteplan for coloring, and I can't get the darn thing into X5. I import as a .pdf (created from Autocad) and I get a "file is corrupt" error. I'm used to that in X3, with Adobe upgrading the .pdf standard, but X5 should be able to read these files, right? This is the solution I'd prefer as it would be a one-step process, all lineweights and text spacing, etc. shouldn't change from the original file. At least one would think so.
If I import as a .dwg or .dxf, I get the expected dialogs, but after the font-matching dialog, CorelDraw shuts down with no explanation! Poof! I've gone back 15 years saved the .dxf as release 14 and still, poof!
I'm going to have to use X3 until this gets resolved...
Up until this morning I have been able to successfully import .eps files into Xara Pro Designer 6.
This morning, try as I might I am unable to open a new .eps file which has been sent to me.
All 'old' .eps files already on the system can be opened correctly. The artist sending me the files is not doing anything different at their end. I'm not doing anything different at my end.
To add to the confusion ... an .eps sent yesterday opened correctly. Today it does not and displays "Access violation exception at 0.09681E2C". I did 'tidy up' my folders so it's possible I may have messed up the directory for this one.
I am new to using Revit and I am just trying to figure out how it works to be honest. I have made a 2 floor building in ACAD ARCH 13 and when I import the DWG files into Revit, they just show the 2D line drawings even when I look in 3D mode. Do I have to re make all of the walls and such in Revit or am I missing a step to import all of the windows, doors, and wall heights?
This is not a request for full support to open/edit/save SVG files.
It would be a useful feature if paint.net could import from SVG files. A window will come up so you can adjust the dimensions/size and then it can add the image as a new layer. (Currently, I would use GIMP to convert SVG to PNG then import that into paint.net).
Today I went to LR4 and tried to import RAW CR2 files into the program using the usual import process which is pretty automatic. I also asked that copies be saved as DNG files. No matter what I tried, I got an error message saying that the files could not be imported. I use a Canon 5D Mark III. The only difference in today's shoot was that I used and HDSC card instead of a CF card. No other obvious changes. Clearly, this is a serious concern. What amI missing?
How can I make Lightroom import only RAW and not JPG files? (Some camera's require you to save a JPG next to a RAW to generate the best preview on the camera LCD).
I am suddenly unable to import photo files from my computer directory into LR 4.3. I have imported thousands of photos previously, but now I get an error message "Could not copy a file to the requested location". I have seen comments elsewhere on forums which says that to solve this the "Destination" has to be set to "Pictures". I can't find anywhere to select "Pictures" in the Destination menu.
LR is now totally useless to me. How can you get to talk to an expert at Adobe? I just get sent round in circles and end up back on the forum every time!! This is urgent!
25/02/13 Solved this myself. Found after clicking on the arrow at the top right, I got a pull-down menu of recently used destination paths, and by ticking the one which showed "My Lightroom Photos/ Pictures" all was well. (My Lightroom Photos is my directory in which I keep all my photos).
Lightroom 2.7 won't import raw files from folder. After I choose files and click they come up as a white file that says (preview not available for this image ) and I can't go any further. Have no trouble importing JPEGS.
I have been having problems with importing all files to Lightroom since my Macbook was 'healthchecked'!! I get the message 'cannot read files'. This started with Lightroom 3 - where I have tried to delete the preference file and then recreate - no luck, after alot of other things tried, I then uninstalled Lightroom 3 and installed a fresh version of Lightroom 4.2 - and the problem still exists.
I use a Lexar USB 3 card reader to import files created by my Canon 5d Mk-II. I click on Import on the lower left corner of LR, point to the drive which displays the files on the card. But when I click on Import LR simply sites there with the progress bar at the top not moving. I waited for quite a while several times and the files did not copy and import. Then I copied the files using Windows explorer to the folder where they are kept and tried to synchronize the folder but that option was not avaliable from the right-click on the folder name context menu. I have to shut down LR and restart before the Synchronize Folder appears again.
Another, and possibly related anomaly is the number of files LR report that could be imported. The number is always wrong. For instance, there may be 25 files sync but it reports something like 172.
Replaced Nikon D80 with D7100 and now RAW files will not import, suspect Raw plug in is out of date but my PC Windows Home XP is quite old with only 960MB of RAM, will i need to upgrade to LR4 and upgrade PC too?
So I have just started using a D4. I was trying to upload my photos, and the RAW files will not import. I was using LR3, and thought it had something to do with the version, so got LR5, and its not working. FIles could not be imported because they could not be read. I am on MAC OSX 10.5.7. Files will import fine if they are JPG, or RAW from my D3.
I notice lately that sometimes when importing new files from a card, previously imported files are sometimes imported again.
I do check "organize my files by date," and after the date folder is created, I typically modify the folder name to add a description. I also rename files on import. I always check "new."
Still, I thought that LR could keep track of this type of stuff.
I have been using LR since version 1 and never had this happen before. When I have an SD card filled with jpegs and RAW files from my Fuji X100 camera and try to import all of them into LR 4, ONLY the jpeg files get imported. None of the RAW files get moved into LR at all. I have to create a new folder, move all the RAW files so that they are alone, and do a second import. Why cannot I import all at one time, not even thinking about the difference?
