3ds Max :: Fading Geometry Into Visibility In Animation
Jan 3, 2012
I am making a rolling time line that moves left to right. As certain years come into view, the roll will pause and text will fade in. The only way I know to do this is to get into the object properties and adjust the visibility. Is that the best way to do this or could/should it be done in the material somewhere?
Best method of linking several AVI clips by fading in/out. I have an animation where I want to show the first 30 seconds of a process then miss the next 30 seconds and come back in showing the third 30 seconds (several times).
E.g 0-30 seconds fades out and runs into 60-90 seconds fading in. 60-90 fades out and runs into 120-150 etc.
Do I render these off from Max and compile as separate animations in RAM Player, then use something like Video post or some other method to compile the animations into one?
Imagine a flat box or cube (20 x 20 x 2) with many subD's so that it look like more a 3D plane rather than a cube. Is it possible to "pinch" off a peice off a piece of geometry off of the cube corner by using a mod so that the pinched piece literally breaks away from the parent piece? It can stay as the same object or a new object piece can be created..it doesn't matter, as long as I can animate the pinched off peice separately.

How can I make a curve's end points constrain to objects in order to create a "theta" angle line that changes dynamically when the angle between the two objects changes?
I thought they answer may have lay in creating the curve using Maya's new Bezier Curve tool, then using the Rivet plug-in from CreativeCrash to pin it to the middle of two poly cylinders (the "x" and "y" axis.) Unfortunately this doesn't work; the Script editor spits back "is not a vertex!". Either I'm not using Rivet correctly or the end points of a Bezier Curve in Maya are not the same as a CV Curve. But perhaps I'm going about this the wrong way entirely.. I ultimately would wish to extrude geometry about this curve to create a dynamically changing curved cylinder to visualize the angle. It seems like it should be a relatively simple thing to do...
I have a very complex hub model that needs animated visibility on certain areas. So I took all the parts I need to fade out and in and wired them to a slider, and did so with everything else that I need.
I don't get a gradual fade. If the slider value is zero, nothing is there but if its even 1, everything is solid.
I want to animate a cut-away of a house. Slice the corner off it so we can see into the rooms.
If I make the outer shell of the house as a single object, I could boolean it with a moving box to have the cutaway appear.
I'd rather build it from bricks, and have them disappear when my moving 'cutaway' box intersects them. It should leave a nice jagged brick-edged hole.
So - is there any way to have an object's visibility switch to 0 automatically if the object is contained in another (unrenderable) object?
(There are so many things I'd use this for. If you want lots of objects to appear in sequence, like a long row of dominoes, there's gotta be a quick way of having them pop into existence, rather than custom scripting or manually staggering keys in dope/track view)
when I import a project .oam in InDesign, and over the project, into a higher level, there is text, the text is covered from the animation when it run in folio.
I amm trying to animate a series of boxes... I want to change their height when they intersect another geometry... but I have a problem... I'm trying to calculate the distance of top face of the boxes and the other geometry with tape helper, but I can calculate only from center of the geomtery instead of the surface, that is was I searching...

i need to make his image into a site.. now i got some ?'s
he is using it for wallpapers, he wants the wallpapers part of the main image on its own layer, so that it is translucent then when you go over it, it will go to full color (no tranparency). do i have to do this as a gif and make it a rollover or something, do i need to make it a seperate image?
I have seen a number of photos with a fade in the edges, eg a picture of a person with a white background, and the edge faded to brend in with the background.
Anyone know of a good technique to have on pic blend into another. I don't have any good examples, but what I'd like to do is have a pic on the left side fade at the halfway point to a pic on the left. I know photoshop does it with colors, but not sure how to do it with pictures of objects.
I am using videos as PiP's and I want to use the fade in/out feature, but am finding that it takes 15 seconds for the fade to complete, some of the PiPs I am using are only 45 seconds long, so to fade in/out is going to take 30 seconds leaving only 15 seconds of full video. Is there any way that the fade time frame can be reduced. In Elements 11, fade in/out takes 1 second and this is what I would like to achieve in X6 if it's possible.
I'm trying to edit this theme, but so far it has only given me pain in the head. I know how to edit the colors and everything from the css file and theme.php file, but what I'm very frustrated about at the moment is the fading colors. This is the theme I'm trying to edit: ....
I'm new to Photoshop and I have a bunch of existing JPGs which I need to fade the borders to white, and I'm not quite sure how to do it.....like a gradient fade throught the image into white.
Can I do this without the original .PSD files (since I don't have them)? I'm not too proficient with anti-aliases and layer masks, etc. so if some kind sould can point me in the right direction ...
Im tring to create a line that only the ends fade out.. for example black line that the ends are fading out evenly on both sides... can any1 tell me how to do this?
how do I have 1 image gradually fade into another? i know how to adjust transparency, but that adjusts the entire image and not just a portion of it (from my limited understanding of the program).
how would I go about having the effect on the left side of an image and then fading out to show the original image (without the effect) in a nice even clean way (ie not just stopping suddenly) anyone know?
I created a lovely new image for my website using Photoshop CS. It's a very vivid, colorful design. I would like to use it as a background for my business card but it needs to be faded. I've futzed (a real techie term!) with the hue/saturation and the brightness/contrast but can't seem to find a 'washed out'look i'm going after. Any suggestions?
I am working on a web page and want to have a photo fade to the background. I have done my masking and faded the image to transparency. I went to "save for web" and chose a .gif but when the final image is saved it reverts to a white background. The image still has a fade but with a white background behind it.
