I've been trying to create a fade-style edge transition that works regardless of the background the object is placed on. I've tried the blend tool and the shadow tool.
The blend tool gave a good result on a colored background, but it was terrible when the object is moved over anything lighter. The shadow tool was better at handling differences, but I can't find a way to make the shadow the proper color. I need the object's color to just edge-fade into whatever background it is on.
I'm making great progress with my movie making skills! But.... I'm trying to add some transitions to a series of images and I keep getting "there is no gap to apply a transition effect". Trouble is I can't see how I can make a gap.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using VSX4 Pro.
If I go to Settings>Preferences>Edit Tab>Transition Effect and choose 'crossfade' for the default transition I seem to be be able to set the duration to 1 second, but not less. I would like to set it to .10 (1 tenth) of a second, but it will not let me choose that. Now in the Video track I can edit each transition to less than a second, but I have about 150+ photos want to insert and don't want to have to edit manually each transition between each picture. I would rather just insert them all in one drag and have the transition be set to 1 tenth of a second in the project preferences.
I'm going to buy the videostudio X5, but it seems not many effect and menu I can choice from the application, will that be different since I'm using the trial version. I have the hollywood fx for pinnacle, is possible to use them? if not, where I can get some Videostudio sources?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just had my gopro take 377 pictures over a few hours (30 seconds apart) and imported them all into the timeline. What I want to do is compress all these to a time frame somewhere around 1-1:30 or so just for a short clip of clouds moving across the sky. This is easy enough to do by selecting them all and bulk changing the duration to some fraction of a second. The problem is that it was quite breezy so the movement of the tree branches from one frame to another make it more "jerky" than I want when playing back.
Is there some way to smooth this out, I was thinking a real short fade transition between each frame, but that would take a month of Sundays and I don't know if I can get the transition short enough. I tried importing with default transition to cross-fade but the transition was way too long.
It used to be that if one pasted vectors (from AI, for example) onto a new layer of Photoshop as a Smart Object, the vectors could be then edited in Illustrator and after editing, the Photoshop layer used to be automatically updated. Since CS6 however, this automatic update does not occur as expected. In fact, most times it does not occur at all.
When I do have this problem (about 100% of the time I update Smart Objects in AI CS6 now) I have discover that if I select the Smart Object I just edited (but did not update) and then select "Duplicate Layer" from the Layers palette, the layer is NOT duplicated at all BUT the smart object is magically updated instead.
This is how I update Smart Objects now, via this odd method. I have checked the Prefs of both PS and AI to see if there is some option that is turned on (or off) that may be causing this, but I have found nothing related to the updating of Smart Objects behavior there.
I am developing an simulation application, leveraging on using Space objects and applied additional Property Set Definitions for Space objects where I introduced a new Property "Value".
I applied a display theme to my DWG, and based on the value of the Property, different colors will be displayed according to the display theme.
For a single DWG file containing the building, I am able to simulate the color changes by updating the “Value” Property in the Spaces using .NET APIs functions such as PropertySet.SetAt, and committing the transaction.
However, one building can consist of many different levels, and I have split up the modeling of the building into its separate levels. For example, a 3 storey building, I will have 3 DWG files for each individual levels.
A main empty DWG was then used to XREF the 3 levels, to combine the different levels into a whole building. I would like to simulate such colour change through the main DWG which references my individual level DWGs.
what .NET API I can use to access the XREF DWGs in my main DWG, so that I can update the "Value" property in all my Space objects?
I need to recreate a burning wood effect similar to attached sample or even more realistic. I thought I saw such tutorial here, but can't find it now.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI ran across a thread a while back on doing a 3D box, that I believe Rik did. Shown is the example box. How to do the "shading" effect on the front of the box? Is just a overlapping of different shapes with different transparencies? I played around with the transparency tool, but didn't get the same effect.
I am new to this and get over whelmed by all of the cool effects you guys do. Is there a "central" location that might show samples of looks, and a how to? Also the 3D box thread link, can't seem to find again.
I realized that can not find a live effect which was in before Designer Pro version, where is the posterize actually? Assumingly that should be in the Fx list but for me that is only which is on the picture
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have something that appears so simple yet I want it to look exactly as example shows and do it with DP7.
I've tried shadow too, and cloning/offsetting. It doesn't give desired look.
3D extruding isn't the answer as then the type gets a skewed perspective and that's not what I need.
Perhaps there's some way this look can be achieved that I don't know about.
Here's the example, then my efforts that don't look right.
There's a remote chance it's the font. If so, how to recognize that font? I do know that original artwork was cut in a 2 pc vinyl stencil as I asked artist but she doesn't recall font or program used as it was a few years ago.
How to create a glowing text effect? I need for a poster design I'm working.

how to get the desired end result. When applying the Gaussian blur effect, I find that doing this always adds additional width or height to my object which makes the graphic larger than the desired size. To be more specific, I have a rectangle that is 640px by 100px and I want to add an element on top of that is 640px by 4px. I add the Gaussian blur effect to the 640px by 4px object so that my rectangle appears to have depth and my overall graphic is not flat. The problem comes when I export the both elements because the Gaussian blur has now increased the width of my graphic to be larger then desired. Is there a why to add the Gaussian blur effect without increasing the width of my graphic? The final result is a graphic width of 656px.
View 9 Replies View RelatedLikely a pretty simple procedure, but I just can't figure it out. The Word Negative dealing with the effect, did not show up in the index or search of the app's help.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have looked everywhere at all sorts of photoshop and illustrator tutorials (because I couldn't find a Xara one) to accomplish this effect. I am creating a website for my client Jim and would like to incorporate a similar image to what he's using on his book cover, but with some different colors as the background to his site.
You can see what I'm trying to do in his blog header background here: [URL]......
I've found that this is a stock photo used in a lot of places, but I'm not really interested in getting the original image - I have that, but as a Jpeg on a black background. I'd prefer to learn how to create a similar effect in Xara.
I have tried all sorts of things that are kind of close, but just not there yet. I've tried using a line with pen pressure with a glow shadow. I've tried lines with a stained glass color overlay. I've tried creating a number of different brushes with a few levels of color, some with Gaussian blur applied, etc. but I just can't get this effect down. It always looks pretty good when I'm done, but then I look at the inspirational original and I'm not even in the ballpark for the amount of shine, glow, impact, etc.
In the end, this may not even work for the site since will be putting it on a light colored background, but I still want to know how to create this, as I'm sure I'll be able to use the technique elsewhere.
I'm trying to add a live effect to my file and I received an error when I tried to add a shatter effect (see attachment). Is this a problem with my copy of the program

I am sure the effect is obtained by using a mask, but I've never used masks
Here's a way to make fairly realistic metal fill for an object, without having to fiddle with dragging colors from the color bar to the fill tool arrow.
View 7 Replies View Relatedhow to produce the kind of effect the Vista OS used in the logon screen. I imagine this has been done often with Xara, given that it has been such a popular effect. But I haven't been able to get a foothold on even the related terminology. What terms should I be searching for in order to find relevant examples and descriptions of methods?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to blur some text so that it blends in with the background a little. I found the perfect way to do this using the Live Effect, Soften Filter, Motion Blur. However, when I finish getting it to blur to exactly how I need it to look, there is no option to apply this to the text. When I close the box (the only option available) I lose the effect! How do I get it to apply to my text? Do I need to change the text to a shape first?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'd really like to be able to create the sparkle effect seen in the image below using Designer Pro X, but try as I may, I haven't figured out how to do this. It is a one-click effort in MediaChance's RealDraw.
The top image is the image without the sparkles; the one below it adds the sparkles, and the bottom image is just a black field on which the same sparkles are placed so you can see them without distraction.
Is there a (preferably easy) way to do this in Designer Pro X?
i am using since 5-6 years adobe fireworks, and there it is possible to make inner shadows for object, and this is really great!!!
how can i make same effect with easy in xara designer?
i want to make a fill effect from a color to transparent and could not find any solution in xara designer; how do you do it??

I have put together this mini tutorial for doing a letterpress effect, and what's really nice is that the text stays as editable text and this effect is editable! You can change the text and/or the font without losing the effect as long as you don't overflow the text box.
I have attached a png large enough for viewing on screen (just click the thumbnail then click the pop up) and a .xar file with the instructions and examples you can pull apart.
You should be able to do this in Designer Pro or Photo & Graphic Designer from version 6 and up.
How to make a vector shape appear distressed or cracked in a natural-looking way? The best example I can think of is the Chickenfoot logo. It is a simple 2-color logo and looks nicely aged. I've been thinking about this for a while, but can't decide on an effective approach to achieve it.
