View 14 RepliesI'm having a problem using a video file created in FInal Cut. A friend of mine made a movie that I need to use to either edit or more importantly just create a DVD with in VIdeo Studio. I had him convert the MOV file to MPEG 2 The file, both video and audio, plays perfectly in Windows Media Player, but when you bring it into Corel it doesn't see any audio.
The SAME MPG file shows these properties in Corel
FILE
File Format - MPEG-2
File Size - 1.1179,411kb
Duration: 685.152 seconds
VIDEO
Video Type MPEG-2Video, Lower Field First
Total Frames: 20, 534 fames(s)
Attributes: 24 bits, 720x480, 16:9
Frame Rate: 29.97 frames/sec
Data rate: Variable bit rate ( max 20000 kbps)
AUDIO
Audio type : none
Total Samples:
Attributes
Layer
Bit Rate
AND these properties in Windows Media Player
Length 11:25
Bit Rate -
Media Type - Video
Aspect Ratio - 16x9
Audio Codec - MPEG audio Decoder
Video Codec - Intervideo Video Decoder
So clearly you see that Windows can recognize the audio component that Corel does not see
As an alternative I had him give me the uncompressed MOV file. That file had these properties as shown in Corel ( right clicked file in Corel)
FILE
File Format - Quick Time Movie Files
Movie Size - 720 x 480
Duration: 685.152 seconds
Track Counts 1 video, 1 sound
VIDEO Track 1
Compression DV/DVCPRO-NTSC
Attributes: 24 bits, 720x480
Total Frames 20, 534 frames
Frame Rate - 29.970
Duration 685, 1532 seconds
start at 0.000 sec onds
Sound Track 1
Compression - 16-bit Little Endian
Attributes: 48.000kHZ, 16 bits, Stereo
Total Samples 32,887,254
Duration 685.151 seconds

When I took the MOV file into VS X4 --- it worked fine on the time line. I then wanted to burn a DVD. I selected File, New, Share, Create DVD, added the media to the project, for disc template manager, I chose best mpeg 2 lpcm, for MPEG properties for file conversion I customized the settings to Encoder driver - Ulead MPEG NOW encoder, frame type lower field first, 720 x 480, 16:9, I brought the quality under media type up to 100%, video data rate 8000, variable, and the audo to LPCM.... The DVD burned but the file LOST a lot of quality,.... even played with less quality on preview as soon as you brought it into the CREATE DVD window.
Whether the properties use to convert MOV to MPG were correct? Why Corel doesn't see the audio on that file and windows does? Creating DVDs from MOV files? Did I set the DVD up correctly? Interestingly.... he created a DVD for me, and I could "rip" the file into Corel and it created a perfect MPG that was 1/3 of the size of the original mpg he gave me. Also, Windows DVD maker, a basic program read the MPEG he created and burned a perfect DVD with AUDIO and VIDEO that Corel could not.

How I could convert AVI to MPEG (no menu, no edition) in a simple way?
I usually produce simple slideshows on DVD from jpg files. These have always been PAL for use here in the UK. I now need to produce a version of one to send to people in the United States.
I can always test mine on my own DVD player/TV but I won't be able to test these and don't want an embarrassment of a Christmas present that doesn't work. Is it the case that I only need to change PAL to NTSC in the Project Properties, burn the DVD and everything will work?
I just set up a new PC and loaded Pro X2 that I had bought a year ago. I also downloaded the patches. It appears that I can not place a MOV file into the timeline like I could with version 10Plus. 10 Plus did not work well but it did load. So, am I missing something here or do I need to convert all MOV files into something else.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am trying to include a video clip from an MPEG4 video which is 23.96fps into a video which I want to use at 25fps (PAL DVD).
No matter what I do the output is slightly jerky (in a pattern about every second) which I assume is caused by converting 23.96 fps to 25 fps.
Is there a way to do this with a smooth video output?
I usually work with blender and I have a problem with a file I downloaded. It is a parasolid file (x_t) which I can't open in Blender. I can't use CADexchanger as well because I am using a MAC. My question is for other AVCHD users. Do you use any tools to convert the files to .avi? And then edit those in VS X3 in order to aid the rendering process?
Someone refered me to Cineform Neoscene. It is a bit pricey, but here it is: [URL]
Is AVCHD really a problem in VS x3? If I convert to .avi, will I be able to render to a BD DVD later on and still retain the HD image as good as that on the original AVCHD footage?
I've been re-downloading my old Mini DV tapes. I have close to 30 of them so that's a considerable amount of data. I would like to do a reasonable (up for discussion of course) compression of the DV files before sticking them on my NAS box for all eternity (mirrored storage and backed up off-site).
I tried to use the batch conversion tool with several codecs and it generally works but I can't find a combination of codec and settings that leaves the video at the original 720x480 resolution and aspect ratio. When I pick, say, mp4 or m2t formats and 480p resolution I get 720x480 video but there are letterbox bars on the left and right. I do select the 4:3 aspect ratio.
What are the right settings for this task? I can figure out the right compromise for bitrate but I want 720x480 native resolution, no scaling. If I shouldn't use this tool for the job but something else
I have about 30 files with the extension .vsp. As it turns out, I can only convert two of them to .mpeg. I'm trying to figure out why that is by looking at every single detail I can to figure out why only two of them can convert but none of the other ones will be accepted. i just get an error message each and every time. The error message says that there is a file mismatch.

I have VideoStudio X3 Pro and just want to convert all my DV tapes to DVD - no background music, no fancy themes, just conversion with a menu and 15 minute automatic chapter breaks (or scene breaks using the X3 scene detection).
The only way I can test the themes provided in X3 to see if they have background music is to burn a tape to DVD. That just isn't very efficient.
how I can do this, which theme to use, or a way to adjust the theme before it burns?
I am using VS Pro X2. There is a problem with batch conversion. When I export the videos individually using "share", I get a good quality output, but when I export the same video using "batch convert", the quality degrades, for example the title gets blurry. I am using the exact same output setting in both situations:
MPEG-4 Files
24 bits, 640 x 480, 30 fps
Frame-based
MPEG-4 SP Video: 2000 Kbps
44100 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo
MPEG AAC Audio: 128 Kbps

( that is apart from the " save as image " in Studio) Like a batch convert job.
Or perhaps a freebie converter out there.
I recently tried to convert a 76 minute movie in mpeg 4 to mpeg 2 using the batch convert function. I first went into options and set the bit rate to 6100 kbps and the audio to Dolby 2 ch. stereo, with the bit rate set to constant. After the conversion had taken place, I found the results were excellent, except that only 38 minutes were converted. I tried it again, but still only 38 minutes and then it it finishes. Why won't it convert the full 76 minutes? The destination folder is on my "D" drive which is 1 TB, so there is lots of room.
