I have just upgraded to Videostudio Pro X5. I am starting a project and would like to upload the videos and photos as my first task.
I have some video footage on a dvd and when I try to upload it I get a message saying:
"unable to open file / file format mismatch"
It has been a while since I have used this program and my brain is slowly trying to remember how it all works

I have just installed VideoStudio Pro X5 on my computer and have not been able to open any videos in it due to 'file mismatch error.mp4'.So I went online to search for fixes and came across the patches. I downloaded BOTH but only pack TWO would work for me.When trying to install pack 1 (of COURSE the most important) I get this error message:
"The installed version of the application could not be determined. The setup will now terminate" EVERY single time I retried it, this is all I got. Pack 2 went off without a hitch and installed perfectly.
And I know there are other posts about this and they say 'product is already updated if you get this message' but I am still having the issue.Details about where my videos I'm trying to edit came from: recorded from an AverMedia C281 Game Capture HD in full 1080 HD
Videos were recorded on to a WD Elements 2TB 2.0 external hard drive- which in turn saved them as .mp4 files.
'How' am I trying to add video?I am on the 'edit' yellow box.I am clicking on 'file', 'insert media file into library' then I select the 3 hour video (are there limits? I've also tried 20 minute videos and they don't work either) that I'm trying to edit and it then reads:
"Unable to open file M:(video number). File Format mismatch. Then [16803:1:2] in brackets? So I'm sitting here with a product that is useless to me as I can't even get it to open anything up. And I don't want to spend time converting these videos as many of you say 'it works fine for me- don't know what you're doing wrong. all you can do is convert them'.

I used to own Ulead Video X2 and after consulting many times with Ken Berry I was successful in some important projects. I now have purchased VideoStudio X6 with the hopes of it performing well right out of the box. No such luck. I have installed in on my HP work laptop thinking it's much more powerful than my home PC, but in trying to create my first project, I am not able to simply import a jpg to do a slide show with music. It gives the error "Unable to open file [xxx....xxxx...jpg]. ! File format mismatch [16803:1:3]"
I have of course scoured the web and have seen some other users struggling with the same error. So far all I've seen is that it may be the video card or Update to the Graphics board driver. I'm not too techy though I work at HP...and am really nervous about altering any updates on my work laptop. I haven't yet tried any updates or patches thinking that if I just got this, shouldn't it be the latest? I was successful in importing video from an iPhone and I've been successful with mp3 audio files as well, but the jpg's just aren't working. I even tried converting the jpg files to pdf format - but that's not supported I see as an importable file.
I have also noted that if I try to view the sample pictures from the library, it tells me "Original file [C:program filescorelcorel videostudio pro X4samplesimagexxxxxJPG] doesn't exist. I am able to view the sample video clips. But when looking at where Corel was saved on my system, it didn't default to "Program Files" which I thought is what it stated upon installation, but it put it in "Program Files (x86)" So I don't even know if I can relink to fix that. Even if I do, that doesn't solve my jpg fundamental problem. I hate to sound like a whiner, but I'm really discouraged and hope the fix is easy after spending so much for a reliable Video SW program. My wife's best friend passed away and I've promised a tribute slide show for her wake to be completed in the next 2 weeks.

I have just download and installed Corel VideoStudio Pro X4. Mainly with the expectation I could import and work with MTS file formats.
However I've gone to import them and it comes back with a file format mismatch error. This doesn't make any sense to me, as I read up on it and thought the program could work with these files.
The files that I want to import are very big, eg/ 206mb and 418mb. Do I need to downsize these to work with them? If so, how do I do this?

I am trying to add a few sounds to the library so I can use them in my project. I downloaded a few wav files and when I try to import them in my media library, I get the message that File format mismatch.
I did import wav files in the past without any issue. Is there something else to wav files than just the name and extension which could be causing this error?

Other file formats seem to be fine but I wanted this program for its HD capabilities. The files,on sdhc card are from a Veho Kuzo camcorder. how do I set up the preferences so that the program can see these files?

I previously used VideoStudio 10 to capture and then edit my DV Camcorder files, this was on Windows XP and I never had any trouble with this. I have just captured my final DV tape with this camcorder (I'm about to get a new camcorder) on this old PC, however I have now got a new Windows 7 PC, and am now trying VideoStudio Pro X4. I have moved this captured AVI file to the new PC but as soon as I try to import it into VideoStudio I get the following:
File format mismatch
1081:1:3
I have used some other software to convert the AVI file into a DVD compatible MPEG2 file, so I guess I could do my editing on this instead if all else fails?

In VideoStudio X4 (SP1), I am trying to import an edited (VSX4) project into the library in order to use parts of it in a different project. This is something I have done successfully before but the last couple of times I have tried I get the message: “Unable to open file. File format mismatch”. (1081:1:3) There is no problem opening up the project in the normal way it is only when I try and import it into the library. I have compared the properties of these files with the successfully imported files and, to me, they look identical. They were all captured from video in the same way,

I have tried to add JPG images off my laptop to Video studio and every time I attempt to import an image into it, it comes up with a message the runs along the lines of ''unable to open file, file format mismatch, [16803:1:3]''. I took the pictures with my Canon G9, but I also took video with my G9 and strangely enough the video will import and play. I do really like the Corel software and I am disappointed that this problem has occurred.

I am getting a File Format Mismatch error when I try to import .jpg , .png or .bmp files into Video Studio 5x. and 6x (trial version). If I try using the file menu (Insert media file to time linephoto), I get an error dialog that tells me I can't insert the file because of a few different reasons.
If I try using the Import Media Files folder icon, I get a File Format Mismatch Error. I can open these files with MS Paint as well as Paint Shop Pro so there is no issue with the files themselves. Also, if I just drag and drop the files from File Explore to the StoryBoard frame, I don't get any errors and I can render my video. Since I have two copies, I installed one on my vista machine and I don't get that error. I can import .avi movie and .mpg files with no error.
I also installed Service Pack 1 for Video Studio 5x. I am running Win7 64 bit home premium SP1.

This is driving me up the wall, I have pro X4 on my laptop and computer, I can't edit on my laptop as it lags, maybe Corel is too big for my laptop I don't know. On my laptop it allows me to import AVI. files, however, when it comes to my PC, it doesn't.It doesn't make sense how I CAN on my laptop but CAN'T on my pc, It did used to work fine on my pc when I had X2, but towards the end it started making the same error message
'Unable to open file [N:GFFILE309.AVI]. File mismatch'
I'm losing my temper, converting the files isn't an option as it makes my HD footage look like crap and pixilised, it also takes forever. I am at a dead end, I have installed the Corel Videostudio pro x4 codec and that hasn't worked at all.

Circumstance: Using VSPX3, how to combine multiple VSP files in a single movie using "insert media file into timeline" command on File menu?
Each VSP file represents different segments of movie. Each VSP file has items on Overlay track, title track, Music track, as well as transitions.
Each VSP file can be loaded using "Open Project" command under File menu.
Problem: VSPX3 displays error message "Unable to open file" "file format mismatch" [16803:1:2]

I am in the process of giving Video-studio another chance, in that I am testing VSX4 TBYB, Let me say - its a close tossup between Cyberlinks latest Power Producer and its amazing speed and quality output albeit a little more fiddly, and well to be honest if it were not for Video-Studio's past history being so fresh in my mind the decision would have been easy..
Anyway - So far my clips captured with my new Canon Legria HF-G10 don't show any evidence of that Old AVCHD editing blip or mismatched frames around a transition when working with raw AVCHD Files,
So is it safe to assume that the problem is now redundant for good!????? Or have I just been lucky so far - or is that unlucky? in that the TBYB is coded differently to the Ultimate version which I may or may not end up getting..
My other concern was and still is the fact that some of my old raw MP4 video clips can not be directly imported into VSX4 TBYB as they could when I tried VSX3 TBYB version before I ended up deferring, so I am wondering whether this only applies to the VSX4 TBYB seeing VSX3 TBYB had no problems? or is that another major issue that Corel just cant get right, what with only the occasional version capable of working with all multimedia files out there..
Which reminds me is anybody else noticing a significant contrast and detail loss even after smart rendering with VSX4? or is this only because I am using a TBYB version and thus full 25 Mbit Rendering is available in the Ultimate version?

I Upgraded recently from LR2.6 to 3.3. Many of my images have an Exclamation Mark on them, following the upgrade, informing me that there is a Metadata Mismatch.. When I click on it I get this Dialogue box:
Firstly I think LR developers are playing with potentially important information with a lack of care and consideration. I looked at the metadata in 'File Info' in Photoshop before clicking anything: the creation date was the date the file was created and much of the camera data was missing. After I clicked Overwrite Settings all the original data was back on the file. How this came to pass exactly, but it shows metadata is an easily lost thing. If Adobe care about their customers I would think they would make it more clear what was at stake here!
Secondly I would like to know if there is a way to search for all images with this issue to save me having to go through and do it one by one, possibly thousands of times?

I have used an exceptionally good website called [URL]...... for a number of years with no problems. I have just downloaded from them a .mp3 file lasting 5 minutes but when I come to load it into my project , I get an error message saying "File format mismatch". The only difference that I see between this and all the previous files I have downloaded from them is that this one has a bitrate of 320kbps compared to the previous ones of 130-190kbps.

I'm working on an image to print and I had to take the image from LR4 to CS4 for more extensive editing I couldn't get done in LR (major clone brush usage - pain in the neck to do in LR).
LR4 files opened in CS4 via LR looses a lot of the orange shades, loses contrast and just generally look washed out and anemic. File was open using LR copy with adjustments applied.LR4 exports (JPEG, TIFF, PSD) looks ok in Mac Preview/Finder just as they are in LR4.LR4 exports still look anemic when openened manually/separately in CS4.I imported the export files back to LR4 and they look just fine (not washed out like in CS4).I did the cloning brush anyway in CS4, saved the file under different name, they look washed out in CS4 but look okay when opened in Mac Preview AND when imported back to LR4.
I tried changing the export settings in LR and color working space in PS to both match each other (sRGB, AdobeRGB and ProPhoto RGB) and the color discrepancy is still noticeable. I'm using an early 13" 2011 Macbook Pro with the native monitor only, calibrated using Spyder3 Elite. Spyder 3 assesment says the color space of the monitor is closest to AdobeRGB with more yellow/orange covered than AdobeRGB.
OpenGL box checked or unchecked also made no difference.

I have weird issue with ACR and CS6. I process under ProPhoto RGB, 16 bit. When I'm happy with my processing, I then open up in CS6. This is when it get weird, the image that opens up is quite a bit flatter and less contrasty to the version I had in ACR. I've got CS6 as a view a ProPhoto RGB profile. The monitor is an ASUS wide gamut monitor and calibrated with an I1D2 puck using HP's custom software from it's Z-series printer.
I don't experience this problem when I'm using CS6/ACR on my office computer, the only difference is my office machine doesn't have a wide gamut screen.I've reset my Photoshop preferences and recalibrated my screen. I'm running W7 Home 64 on a Dell Studio 15, i7 laptop.
