I'm going back to a project that has been dormant for almost a year. My project files are fine, but when I load them there are no thumbnails any more, just the default thumbnail library.
Are there library files associated with my project files I can search for and what kind of file is that?
How to delete thumbnails from the libraries.When I right click on the thumbnail, DELETE is greyed out, when I select the thumbnail and hit DELETE on the key board, also does not work. Just recently upgraded to X3.

This is only a recent problem with three of the many directories of image files. Preferences are all set the same, and the files show up in explorer. None of the attributes are set to "hidden"?

One is as follows: I start in library mode/grid. I have a publish service that exports to hard drive, with some folders configured. I click on any folder, I see the correct pictures. Clicking on any folder inside the service lets me see the right pictures. Now I click on any other folder outside of the publish service (say, a collection, a smart collection, a folder... whatever) and... neither the thumbnails in the grid nor the filmstrip at the bottom are updated; the only part of the screen which is updated is the filmstrip description (i.e. I read Collection: blahblah, 123 photos).

you click on a date and the thumbnails load, but as you click on the image, it pauses and then shows you the real image in the Navigator (in this screencap, the image has not yet refreshed in the navigator).
i tried rendering previews, but it didn't fix the problem (after hours of the processing). I've rebuilt the catalog when moving to a larger harddrive, but I don't want to reimport everything to a new catalog because i don't want her to lose her edits to her photos. i'm not entirely certain if "Optimize Catalog" will fix the problem.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am currently working with a trial version of Lightroom 4.2 and i have been doing some silly things. The end result is that Catalog has disappeared from the left hand panel of the library tab ie i only see Folders, Collections and Publish Services..
I have tried to use File/New Catalog, Open Catalog and Open Recent but, in each case, I get an error box appearing: " ....catalog address refers to a location that is not available" it does not close and re-open LR
Now for the confession as to how this situation arose. I had been using LR quite happily using the catalogue which was automatically created when i started. Then I decided to try creating a new catalogue, in fact I ended up creating a few new catalogues. I decided to remove all the catalogues and start again with one catalogue which I would set up (I was not worried about losing the updates to the photos i had been playing around with) But, as i could find nothing within LR about deleting catalogues, I decided to remove them via Windows Explorer. When i went back into LR, Catalog was still showing in the left hand panel and, when i looked in Explorer, it was in the original folder My Pictures/Lightroom which I thought i had deleted along with all the other catalogues. Presumably it had been re-created automatically as in my original use of LR
I then compounded my mistakes by clicking on the + to the right of Catalog and, for interest, choosing whatever was at the top of the resultant list. It was at this point that Catalog disappeared never to be seen again.

After which when I went to my Lightroom 5.3 I found my entire library folders except one picture with a missing file statement, gone, disappeared. All gone but the one picture. The original files are still on my hard drive, but can I get them back with my Lightroom changes that haven't been saved? How do I do this? or are they all gone?

Every new project is also split and I cannot insert music. It stops playing after 4 minutes. I have found the explanations about splitting the clip, but nothing about the splitting the whole project. View 1 Replies View RelatedI've observed that VS X5 usually keeps at least 4 levels of last-used project files - some of the time. But I notice that from one day to the next, that last used list can disappear, irregularly.
In another piece of software (unrelated) I use, a scan history log gets kept in a temp file, which lasts only until the next time a cleaner like Cclean goes looking for all those .tmp files and similar, to clean up all the leftovers on a machine that clutter up its HDD space and slag its performance.
Does VS X5 do something similar for the last used project files?
If vendors have to ape MS in this sort of user friendly facility, they can at least put the data in a space that's unique to the application. I've never noticed that MS was guilty of losing the last files used details - pity the copiers cannot do the same.
For example, I have project A and project B, they represent two videos. I want to combine the two projects and export into one video.
I have tried exporting two videos from the two projects independently, and import the two videos into a new blank project and export again, but the quality is not very good.
Situation: I have three interviews, edited in each their project file in X5. Now I need to combine them in one project, from where I will add news stuff and edit existing stuff.
How do I merge the files into one project file which is still fully editable - for every element in the whole timeline?
Sure I can create a new project file and import the .VPS-files, but the three interviews will then show us as non-editable blocks.
I am using VideoStudio 10, and want to combine four separate 12-minute projects into one 48-minute program without losing a generation. Possible?
