How do I do this in PS and how do I export it?
The file is a Lower Third - which will have titles written on it.

what I have been doing to work with transparency: bring up GIMP to add an alpha channel and set part of an image to transparent. Save and use in Paint.net.Today, for example, I wanted to create a M + W logo, and the result looked like this:I set the font to Engravers MT, put a red W on an image.Selected "All", copied to clipboard, then pasted to a new image.Vertically flipped the new image, making it an M, changed color to blue using Recolor tool. Saved it as PNG, closed image.Started GIMP, opened the blue M image.On GIMP menu, selected Layer --> Transparency --> Add Alpha ChannelUsed Fuzzy Select Tool to select the area outside the blue MHit delete key to remove color of fuzzy selection (converting it to transparent)Save image as PNG and exit GIMP.Back in Paint.net, open the M image.Select All of Image, copy to clipboard.Paste into New Layer of W image.Adjust position of this transparent selection layer to achieve desired resutl as above.Save the completed image.I find GIMP to be very hard to work with, and prefer working with Paint.net. The thing is i don't know how do this, and could use some help. What I tried so far is that I add to the original image an alpha channel which is the original image inverted, but that did not show me the checkered bg.

How to do exactly what he does in gimp? whenever i duplicate one of the rgb layers, it isn't black and white like it is in ps. i'm also not sure how to have it turn into the alpha.
I am using X4 and am familiar with chroma keying and setting backgrounds but I am trying to export the video with the alpha channel so I can create a flash file with transparency to use for walk on video (where the person appears in the foreground of the site with wmode set to transparent).
I have Corel Motion 3D and some of the kbase was suggesting I needed to use that to export with the alpha channel but it would be a lot simpler to be able to push it out from X4. Even if I can do it as non-flash file I can take it to something like Ijoysoft and convert to flash.
I need to output xparent alpha backgrounds in .png image sequences can X6 do this? Other formats are fine but preferably I'd like to use image sequences.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying videostudio pro x5 and it looks very nice, but I have a problem that I think will lead to be a big limitation in the potential this software has, so I guess this is a bug or maybe I am not using it in the right way. I just hope is not that way by design
Anyway, the problem is that when I apply a filter to an animation or to an image (like PNG) that has alpha channel, I can see the filter coverin the whole frame if the clip is in the main video track, while if I move it to the overlay track the filter will only stay inside the picture, for example I've tried this with the lens flare.. please see this image (situation 1 on top and then situation 2 bellow the orange line):
I'd expect the lens flare to go over the transparent area of the clip so that it will be overlaid with the "background" main video track, but it is not. This is just an example but for example the same happens if I apply the lightning filter to a text filter or to a png..
I also have a similar concern with the free TitlerEx plugin that I've downloaded after registering: if I put it on an overlay track I can't just have the text with transparent background overlaid to the main video track.

I'm trying to figure out some more stable uses for computer graphics when building textures with alpha layer or alpha channels. So far I get a flicker from opengl bug when using alphas. So I'm wondering if I use Alpha layer and something with a solid color underneath the geometry if I could achieve a more stable result where alpha sorting. So like many new videographers is am shooting with the 5d markII which obviously shoots in HD.
However i cant seem to export my HD file out of VideoStudio.
When i drag the clip onto the timeline and right click on the clip and go to properties it says it is in 1920x1080. However when i go to create a video file ans click same as video settings it exports it to 720x480 at 29.97 frames per second. And the video was shot at 24fps.
So..
a) i don't understand why it is exporting it to totally different specs that what the project really is?
b) how to i export to an mpeg file that is 1920x1080 from VideoStudio.

I made a new layer in channels of the composite masks which gave me an Alpha channel. The Alpha channels show the solid black paint lines where I filled in the selection voids. These solid lines affected the adjustment layers so I ended up doing some erasing at 50%. Not the shortest workflow direction. View 5 Replies View RelatedOnce I create an alpha channel, how do I edit it? I have tried selecting and clicking the alpha channel, and then using the paintbrush tool. I understand that if I have a white foreground, painting should remove some of the mask, while a black background should result in the painting adding to the mask. But often nothing seems to happen when I paint. Or, at other times, the painting results in paint marks on my image but doesn't affect the "marching ants" and therefore doesn't affect the mask. I have already checked that my K setting in Color is at 0 for white and 100 for black. Using CS5 version 13.0 x64 with Windows 7.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm developing a tile based game, I have basic ground tiles, and above these tiles can be objects. My game engine supports objects with an alpha channel, where the alpha channel is used for transparency:
alphachannel 0 = completely invisible pixel
alphachannel 255 = opaque pixel
alphachannel between 0 and 255 means the object and the background tile below that are blended, like semi-transparency.
This is useful to give the objects soft edges, and for semi-transparant fire, ghosts, and other nice looking effects. Code:
I have an image that I created in Photoshop CS3 with a drop shadow on it and transparency around it. I need to save it as a 32-bit TARGA file with an embedded alpha, so that the transparency and drop shadow work when I bring it into my video editing software, but when I save it out as a 32-bit .tga it doesn't save an alpha with it. I seem to remember Photoshop automatically creating an alpha from your transparency when you save out a 32-bit .tga. What am I doing wrong?

Once you have completed the painting work on your Texture Template, be sure to save it in its original form as a layered .psd document. Then, "flatten" the image, and save as a .bmp file with the name you wish to use for your paint scheme. Example: "DFB58_N12345.bmp". This name indicates that the template is for the DreamFleet (DF) Baron 58 (B58), and the N1234 is the registration number you painted on the aircraft. If you are doing a livery for an airliner, you can substitute the name of the airline for the registration number.
The name is not important, and DreamManager will work with any name, however we suggest a logical name so that you and others will know what the texture is. With little doubt, after all this painting work, you may wish to share your texture with others by uploading it to a file library, thus, a logical name will help identify it.
With your Texture Template now saved with a proper name and as a .bmp file, it is now time to prepare the Alpha Channel template.
Re-open the .psd version of the template in your paint program, and using whatever means you feel comfortable with, copy the entire alpha channel only to a new document. Once in the new document as a standard image layer, flatten the image, convert to grey scale if necessary, and then save this file as a .bmp file, the same as you did with your Texture Template. Use the same name that you used with the Texture Template, except add the suffix "_A" at the end of the name. If you have done this properly, your alpha channel template will be the same size as your Texture Template (typically 4096 x 1024).
Example:
Name of your Texture Template: DFB58_N12345.bmp
Name of your Alpha Channel Template: DFB58_N12345_A.bmp
