When I edit paragraph text the Tracking appears to change. However, the actual Tracking setting in the Character pallet does not change. In other words, spacing between letters gets reduced but none of the actual Character settings change.
This issue happens when I click in a paragraph to edit the text, or when changing the text color via the Character panel. After I'm done editing the text, if I double click the type layer to select the entire block of text the spacing returns to normal.
I am having trouble locking onto a temporary tracking point in autocad 2011. I can't seem to find the start tracking icon and it doesn't recognize the 'TT' command. I have a tracking line, I just can't seem to do it in two dimensions.
Any issues with the tracking settings in the character panel on PC? When I type in a value and click the enter key, it seems to round down or round up to a close, but random number.
PSE doesn't show the user all the text formatting capabilities available in PhotoShop, but this script can alter the tracking (character spacing) of the text on a layer.
Here are the steps to use the script:
Open Notepad.Copy this text and paste it into Notepad:/*<javascriptresource><name>Character Tracking</name><enableinfo>true</enableinfo><menu>automate</menu><about>Adjust the kerning.</about><category>Typography</category></javascriptresource>*/var targettext = app.activeDocument.activeLayer.textItemtargettext.tracking = 30
Use "Save As" with the File Type of "All Files" to save it asCharacter tracking.jsxin the C:Program Files (x86)AdobePhotoshop Elements 10PresetsScriptsdirectory.Keep the .JSX file open in Notepad.Start PSE. You'll have a new menu item: File...Automation Tools...Character Tracking.Create a document in PSE with some text on a text layer. With a text layer selected, run the Character Tracking script. To adjust the tracking, simply switch to Notepad and change the numeric value after the equals sign, save the file and re-run it in PSE. (No need to close and re-open PSE.)
You can use negative values, too -- any number between -1000 and 10000 is OK.
I have a family photo including many text layers. I'm trying to edit the text in a selected large multi-line text layer. I'm following the steps from the appropriate PSE article, but I always end up creating a new layer and the red/green no-go/go option. I thought I should just be able to double-click the text layer and start editing.
Is there a way to export text from InDesign to Photoshop and preserve the type as editable text in an area text box, similar to the export to PSD in Illustrator? Designed many web site pages in InDesign, and now need to covert all pages over to Photoshop quickly.
I'm having this strange issue with the Photoshop type tool in Photoshop CS5. It might be, although I'm not sure, a bug. The tool itself is working and lets me add text and edit. But the box that shows up when editing text (and the blinking line that shows where I am in the text) - has gone invisible. I am having this issue in only one document. - I tested the type tool on other documents, and everything was normal. I've looked up shotcuts and hotkeys to check if I've tapped a key or something, but it doesn't appear to be so.
Now about the document; it does have quite the amount of text layers, and a lot of text in them. I've tried resetting the type tool, and I've restarted the program.
When I restart the program, the tool works as it's supposed to - but after editing or adding a new text layer, the editing area is gone again! Is this a bug, or have I touched keys that do odd things?
I can create a text box using the edit panel but no text will appear in the box. the pointer or curser won't appear in the box. I was able to insert text the first time I used Elements 10 but not anymore.
Is it possible to lock a text box to prevent it from moving but still be able to input & edit text?I want to make a drawing template in CorelDraw x6 using text boxes for "non Corel friendly" people to use but need the actual text boxes to stay in the same place all the time!?
What I want to do is have text edit for single line text to start at the end of a string of text instead of high lighting the entire text. Is it possible to do this?
Home and work computers act differently when I initiate the dimension text edit command. One moves both the text and the dimension lines and the other only moves the text. It doesn't appear to be the dimstyle so I am wondering if it is a setvar.
I am clicking on a layer in GIMP, and when I click on the text tool, this dialog pops up "CONFIRM TEXT EDITING" "the layer you selected is a text layer but it has been modified using other tools. Editing the layer with the text tool will discard these modifications. You can edit the layer or create a new text layer from its text attributes."
with 3 options, Create New layer, Cancel, and Edit however, no matter what I click, it doesn't let me create new text anywhere.ALSO, it seems to jump from the layer i selected to another layer whenever I click "EDIT."
What is weird is that I was able to create new text prior to this, but not anymore. it's gimp 2.8.0
I am trying to access the edit original (edit with) option to edit a photo that has not been edited yet. I right click and go through the edit menu and does not appear or is not available? Would I have to reopen it manual in photoshop or is there a way around this to access that setting? it sometimes does not appear on my already edited photos.
I would prefer not to open each photo again, as some files i do not have and were imported into the document with another computer.
I am using the Mac version of CS6. I have a psd file of a diet guide that I am trying to edit. When I open up the file, the doc is very very small. At 100%, the doc is very small. I can read or see anything on it. When I zoom into the doc so I can actually see the text I want to edit, it becomes a blur. So how am I suppose to be able to edit it?
Not sure what's going on but the value changes depending on point size it seems. So if I imput say 50 in the tracking field, one line of text shows 38 and another line shows 48... Is there a way to force all text to simpley stay the exact value I choose??
Cut and pasted text from a pdf to Encore menu page. The text is a bit hard to read, so I want to change the font, etc. However, I am not able to edit the text in Encore or Photoshop. I tried to recreate a new page and copied the same text, but this is how it pasted. I am not able to word wrap it or get it to appear as the original. What am I doing wrong? I have not rasterized anything. Not sure if it's point text or paragraph at this point.
I use an action to add a standard copyright notice which I want to update from 2008 to 2009.
I have tried exporting the action and changing 2008 to 2009 in a text editor and then re-importing the action. The result is that the action palette shows the new year, but the result of running the action is still 2008.
Is there a neat way to make minor adjustments to text in actions, or do I have to re-record that part of the action over again?
How can you edit an existing text layer in Photoshop CS (8.0)? Always before i have just been able to click on it, and the bounding box appeared, but now it won't.
Is there any way to track adjustment changes applied to an image in CS6? Namely, I would like to know how numerically Temperature, Tint, Exposure, Contrast etc. are changing from one adjustment to another.
E.g.: I've changed saturation of an image. How do I know how many values of saturation have been changed? Where are such data stored (logs, caches etc.)?
I have just gotten Photoshop 7, and i was wondering if there was a tracking option, i mean on paint shop pro, you could put a tracking on the pen tool, which made it where if you did a line to jaggedy, it would straighten it for you, or if you wanted a curve, all you had to do was do a rough one, and it would 'curven' it out for you.
I am trying to design a pattern with different peoples names in (You can see a rough one I did in the image below, all the 'NAME HERE''s are on seperate text layers) and would like to know if there is a way to update all the type (i.e. change the 'NAME HERE' to actual names) at once? I know you can link the layers and press shift to edit the formatting but I want to update the actual letters.
I'm new to Text Extrusions in Photoshop CC (Ext) as I typically model in a 3D app. I'm modeling text that will merge with a photographic background. All the tools are fairly straightforward, but I keep getting hard edges on the text bevels. I just want a basic smooth rounded bevel (fairly narrow). But the bevel options I choose all tend to create a dark outline at the bevel. Is it possible to edit the bevel options?
Also, even though I have selected soft shadows, the shadows cast by the letter form onto itself have hard edged ray trace shadows. Is there a setting the will soft the shadow edges? I have viewed a couple of useful tutorial videos, but they don't address the issues I'm trying to solve.
lets say i have a picture. I want to add text to it so it fits right into the background rather than having an artificial white border around the text. How do i do that?
Also, how do i remove text without deleting parts of the background as well, and how do i enter text so that it matches the text that is used in the picture?
Lets say i have a picture with the word "TEST" in it, with a certain font, size, color, etc. I want to add additional text with the exact same font, size, etc.
editing the text in a web page template that I downloaded from a free template web site. The page is .psd file, I opened it in photoshop ver 6, went on to those layers which are having text. the layers clearly denotes T , I double clicked on T but as per tutorial I read on a web site, the text is not highlighted or selected, instead the blinking cursor comes over that text and when i try to write something it overwrite the new text over the previous one and previous text is as it is as its before.
I also tried to edit the text by going on vertical tool bar, clicking the T button, and then double clicking on the required text but it also doesnt work. After going through couple of tutorial websites and reading it, I came to know that text layer might be rasterized, I checked in the main menu, the layer is not rasterized and clearly show the letter T.
