I have a large .psb file which i am trying to convert to.tiff.The file size says it's: 759MB and I understand that the .tiff will convert upto 4GB.But when i try to convert it says the file is to big!The error message "File exceeds 4GB limit...etc" comes up...
View 4 RepliesI am using PSE 12 as an external editor for Aperture. When I ask to use an external photo editor, Aperture creates a .tiff file in my Aperture folder, launches PSE 12 and tells it to edit that .tiff file. This all works great. When I am done editing in PSE 12, I ask it to save the file and it saves it back to the original Aperture folder with a .tif extension. I can instead say "save as" and then it suggests the file name with a .tif extension. When I correct the extension to .tiff it warns me that I'm going to overwrite the file (exactly what I want!). I say yes and then I find out that PSE did not overwrite the file, but wrote it as a .tif file anyway. I have to go to the folder, delete the .tiff file and rename the .tif file to .tiff and then everything is fine - but what a hassle.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am cleaning up the Hard Drive on my Mac G4. My scanned images are taking a great portion of the 80 Gig drive. I finished clearing my external drive by removing nearly 60 gigs of images by storing them on DVD. I will do the same for the Mac drive.
My trouble is that all my images are stored in TIFF format which takes up enormous space no matter the storage. Since I output images in various sizes, mainly prints, to 30 x 40 inches, I need a master image archived in the best format for such. However, I do not want to fill my drives, or DVD, with large files. Code:
Whenever I tell LR to edit a photo in PS (CS6), I get back a TIFF file that is 10X larger than the orginal RAW file, and I ultimetly delete it to save space (after first converting it to a jpeg). Why doesn't PS do LR style non-destructrive editing, i.e., why not simply return a record of the edits made in a format compatible with LR?

I have just bought a new quad core pc with 4 GB RAM, but
XP SP2 only accepts 3,25 GB. Furthermore I have installed Abode Suite
CS3 and did all the updates.
I have to merge 2 TIFF-file and make some corrections, after doing
this I generated a 300 dpi CMYK tiff-file of 1 GB. At this point PS
crashes and I can't open the file any more, it blocks when reaching +- 70%
I have selected to use the maximum memory via Photoshop preferences.
But is not possible anymore, the only thing I can do is to close photoshop via the task-manager...

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm saving a tiff image from an Imacon scanner before opening in ACR and modifying it.Then, proceeding to Photoshop CS6 for Mac for further modification. On saving it will only save as .pbm and not .tif. If I modify the suffix is shows as .tif.
However, it will then not import into LR4. It will then open in CS5 Photoshop and it also tries to save as a .pbm, but it will easily change to a Tiff suffix and save and then re-open in LR4 as a .tif.
I have tried changing file type associations in Windows, changing file type associations in Bridge, changing the registry, right clicking and selecting open with, and nothing works. The only way I can do it is to drag my file to the 32 bit PS icon. How do I make 32 bit the default version that opens?
View 7 Replies View Relatedneed to store the Pantone Color information in TIFF format, this is possible in Eps format. We have tried creating a box with a gradient and done a "saveas" to TIFF format, we found that the pantone color information is converted to CMYK, instead of the pantone.
I have PS CS3 and am running a Dell precision workstation 690 with 4GB ram, 1.6GHz Xeon duo core processor, NVIDIA Quadoro FX 3450 video card. I have a tiff that is 705.4 MB and when I try to open it an error message pops up and reads: could not compelte your request because there is not enought memory (RAM).
I have gone into preferences/performance and moved the memory usage up to 70%. Do I really need to purchase more RAM for the computer?
When I try to open a tif, I get a message that states: Could not open"C:Documents and Settingsuser2desktop65-AV165-AV1.tif" because of a problem parsing the TIFF file.
Can someone please help explain how I can open this tif?
I saved one file as .tif and now after using RAW to process images, opening in CS3, trying to save, there are no options either .jpg or .pds. I had to open two previously saved .jpg files, before I had the full range of choices.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to save a .psd to a .tiff file. My .psd has a couple layers and a drop shadow effect. When I save the file seems to be fine until i veiw it in any Windows or Microsoft view, thumbnail view or application such as word, it looks squeezed and totally washed out of colour and almost transparant? I have saved like this before and never encountered this problem. It seems to appear properly when opened in InDesign, Photoshop. I use these photos to send to other people who will be viewing them and using them in Microsoft applications such as PowerPoint, so I'm concerned that it won't open properly for them.
I am using Photoshop CS and Microsoft Windows Windows XP Professionl Version 2002 Service Pack 3.
When I try to create a Save As TIFF file, although TIFF shows in the Format line, what is created is a pbm file. It does it every time. Is there some way for me to create a TIFF file using Save As?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI work in publishing and convert hundreds of jpgs into tifs each month. In CS6 under save-as when I click on format> tif, I loose the end of my file name.
Eg Figure 8.7.jpg goes to Figure 8.tif >loosing the last part of the filename.
When I have a big list of files to run through, I need the saving process to be as quick as possible without having to alter the file name manually. Why this is happening, it was fine on CS3!
Earlier this year, I was still using CS3. I created a bunch of original TIFF files, and modified files which had been created in CS1. When I am having to go back and reference these CS3 TIFFs, some of them are giving me an error message and refusing to open. Evidently, they are not compatible with CS6?
I have since uninstalled CS3, but the box is sitting on the shelf if I need it (which I am hoping I don't). Any workaround - preferably one which will not destroy my layers.
When I select jpeg in the Save As dialogue box the extension .iff appears instead.

The vendor wants a pdf file. How do I convert back without reducing quality of the graphic. I am using photoshop CS4.
My brother sent me a TIF file that had multiple pages within it. I never knew this was possible. Is this something that can be done in Photoshop then converted to a TIF file? Once I opened the TIF file, it allowed me to flip from one page to the next so the pages weren't all scanned side by side.

Recently I have been unable to save tiff and psd files as jpegs. When I select "save as" from the file menue I do not have jpeg as an option in the drop down menue. I have always been able to save files as jpegs until recently.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI originally created my company logo in Photoshop at 72 Resolution. I saved the logo as a TIFF file and transfered it onto my Microsoft Access database to show on my various reports.
When I printed it out the logo was grainy - There were grey specks surrounding the image as well. I talked to a local graphics person in my area and they told me the problem was the resolution of the image.
I re-created the logo at 600 resolution and saved the file again as a TIFF file. I transfered it again onto Access AND SURE ENOUGH when printed, the image was just as grainy.
How can I get a sharp & clean image? And what format should I save it in?

According to Julieanne you hit ctrl-s so that PS saves the HDR image and then it should show up in Lightroom. What I have found is that hitting crtrl-s saves it as a PSD file which does automatically show up in Lightroom, however Lightroom but can't read it. If I do a save-as, and select TIFF as the extension Lightroom will not automatically see the TIFF file. I have to synchronize the folder in order to have Lightroom import it.
Why would Lightroom automatically see a PSD file (that is of no use) and not see the TIFF file?
Is there a setting in PS that will change the preferences to save as a TIFF instead of a PSD file?
Using Lightroom 4.2 and Photoshop CS6.
I've created a mono, bitmapped image approx 400px square. Then saved the file.
If I go to 'get info' (I'm on an Apple Mac), it says the file size is 97k.
If I open the file in P'shop (CS5.5) and go to 'Image Size', it says the file is 19.2k.
