View 1 RepliesI realize that you can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear, but I'm in the position of needing to make some small images larger while working with them to not look completely blurry or pixellated.
Are there techniques for doing this? Does one need to start with an image of at least a certain size to expect any halfway decent results? The starting point images in question are in the neighborhood of 250px - 400px in either dimension and all combos of those.
I would like to significantly enlarge some digital images 2800X2100
to print out at A1 or A0. Has any body any suggestions or experience of doing this. I can think of 2 possible solutions
1. Vectorising the images
2. using some software genuine fractals or Photo Zoom
Has any one experience of doing this and how effective were the results.
What is the best way to enlarge images without using Alien Skin Blow Up3? I would think there must be something of the sort in Photoshop itself.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI searched for this topic here, but everything I found was at least a couple years old, so I thought I'd see what the current consensus is. I'm printing out a bunch of pictures for framing, and some of my older ones were taken with Powershot S60. There's the cliche that it's not the equipment, it's the photographer, but that's not true if you want to blow up a 5MP shot to a large format.
I've tried the repeated 110% scaling technique (with and w/o bicubic sharper) with an Unsharp mask after it, and it seems to work pretty well up to about a 4 steps. There seemed to be contradictory comments on here as to whether any specialized plug-ins such as Fractal..something or others provide a genuine benefit. Any advice?
How to enlarge a photo?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got a hi-res tiff image (5031x3579 px) which I need to use as a background on a very large print (2500 mm x2500 mm, 300 dpi). I placed the original image in InDesign and had to enlarge it by approx 800% to fit the canvas. Effective dpi ended up at 35dpi. This, no suprise, looks **** when viewed at 50-100%, so I thought maybe it would be better to resize the image in photoshop before placing it in InDesign. Well, I did do that and ended up with an image with a huge filesize (2,5 Gb) before saving it as a tiff again. I noticed that many of the save as options didn't come up, only tiff, Large image format and native PS. I still dont know what the final file size will be... still waiting for it to finish processing.
The method I used for enlargement was: Image size -> resample - bicubic smoother (best for enlargement) - in three steps, 200% up - 200% up - 150% up.
What is the best way using photoshop CS6? I know I will loose quality, but want to minimize the apparent loss the best way.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been photoshopping on and off for about 2 years now, sharing some of my stuff on a prowrestling message board (go figure). My skills (if you can call them that) are fairly limited.
Here's the inquiry I have...
I have a small logo. It's the only logo on the net of it's kind, so if there was a larger one, I'd have it. I need to enlarge it substantially for a t-shirt (for my significant other as an inside joke type gift). However due to the photo being so small, I lose major detail when I enlarge it.... This makes me a sad panda.
However, an aquantance told me that I can still maintain the quality if I make the image a vector then enlarge it. I nodded my head and agreed but truth be told, I've never used vectors before.
I've attached a link to the photo below, and I'm asking anyone for their help. Guiding me through the process of enlarging the photo without losing too much detail or making it lose focus would be cool. If it's a quick process but takes some skill,
I'm wanting to put up some pictures in my "study" that are influencing, read it in a magazine, and I remember these. Looking on the web it seems everyone "wished they'd come up with this ad campaign".
I'd like to enlarge them to A4 size as well, just to put them in glass frames, I don't know how legal this is but I can't find anywhere that sells them on the web, or who actually made them ?
I don't really understand the enlarging process
i need to create an very large scaled pic / stencil off a a4 sized jpeg image...
though every time i blow it up it all goes pair shaped...

I have a picture that is 21x32cm in 300ppi. I want to print it to 50x70cm in digital printer.
I need to enlarge it to fit, right? What are the settings I should use in the image size dialog box?
Should it remain 300ppi or perhaps 600 ppi?
Should I resample pixels or not?

I'm using Photoshop CS 8.0.
I'm Trying to make a Headshot. Using my (Epson Perfection 1260)Scanner, I scanned a Back and White(4"x6") Sharp Image Photo at (1200 dpi) and enlarged it to(7"x 9").
Using PhotoShop I Sharpend the Image. I printed at (1440 dpi) using Glossy Photo Paper with my "Epson Stylus Photo 750" Printer. The Image has turned out Grainy and not very clear as the original although it did manage to pickup up detail like lint on the photograph LOL.
I tried enlarging the image in PS and increased the amount of Pixels, instead of during the scanning process but that resulted in poorer quality image.
The Photos that remain the same size as the original turn out excellent photo quality images.
How do I enlarge a photo from a smaller image and maintain almost the same quality as the original? It seems I am losing resolution somewhere along the way.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a client who wants a 180cm print on their car of a photograph I took. My problem is that I can't save the file. First it had some problems with re sampling the image, but I changed so it used the external hard drive as well. The problem was something with the hard drive not having enough space even though the was more than enough. I'm using Photoshop CC.
Now the problem is that I don't have enough RAM. I have the 8gb of the best RAM out there. I've also tried with a best upgraded iMac 27 (late 2012), but it didn't work. The file is 1,87gb. I would need a super computer to be able to save that file and I doubt the client will be able to open it.
I just got CS6 and went to use the lens flare. The window is so small, I can't see where the flare is being placed. Is there any way to enlarge the image in the tiny window?
