View 6 Replieshow people make those backgrounds that look like a graph paper, but with tiny tiny tiny squares?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIllustrator can make graphs with lines and bars / columns, for example from the docs: [URL] .....
However, when I create a graph like this, I seem to lose the ability to manually set the value axis using "override calculated values".
To reproduce this problem: Create a graph like the example, with bars and an axis on the left, lines and an axis on the right. Unlike the example, don't fix the numbers so the lines match up neatly - have one side go up to just under 20, one up to just under 250, so there are mismatched markers and numbers of divisions on each side.Try to make the markers and numbers of divisions match up, so the side that goes up to 20 actually goes up to 25 and has the same number of divisions as the other side.Everything I've tried doesn't work:
If I select the whole graph and go to 'Graph Type', I can't set Value Axis options. In earlier versions it's greyed out, in CS6 I can access it but clicking 'Okay' does nothing. If I select the whole graph and chose one graph type, I can set the Value Axis options, but that selected graph type then applies to the whole chart,If I use the Group Selection tool to select one of the series, and open 'Graph Type' options, changing the Value Axis options has no effectIf I use the Group Selection tool to select all series that share an axis and open 'Graph Type' options, changing the Value Axis options still has no effectIf I use the Group Selection tool to select the axis ticks group itself, or the axis line and axis ticks groups themselves, or the axis labels, axis line and axis ticks, or the axis labels, axis line, axis ticks and associated data series, etc, changing the Value Axis options also has no effect
It seems like this feature is broken and it seems like the example in the manual was carefully chosen to use a rare combination of numbers where it would actually look right.
When I insert new data on an existing graph (for example, just adding a new year of data) and press insert, it just deletes the graph entirely. My only option is to recreate the entire graph which is frustrating because I lose its format and colors.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI need to make some graphs that are linked to a series of data through XML files (originally Excel) and create an indvidual document for each data set. They will be used for the web and print.

I want the values 270018, 283148, etc. to display in the graph. Is that possible?
I'm totally new to Illustrator and want to use the line graph tool to insert a graph that passes through 0,0 and runs to 24,24. I want the x and y axes to meet at the origin. As it isn't working as you can see. I've used 0, 0 and 24, 24 as my data points. Is there any way I can change how this is presented so it's clear that it's at the origin?
I'm using CS6, if that matters.
How to edit a .wmf file that is a graph and was generated by a statistical program. I need to visually enhance this graph, making it look more appealing for publication in a manuscript. It's very simple, just need to make rectangles behind the existing text that form the columns in the graph, and shade the rows of the graph to assist the reader to follow the row across the graph. While I can edit the text on the .wmf, I can't get a rectangle to be placed under the existing text unless I lower the opacity of the rectangle which won't work as I need black and white only. I've tried converting the text to rectangle, but the stretching of the text won't be acceptable. What would be the workflow I should attempt to follow to enhance the looks of the document in illustrator? Is there a trick to getting the rectangle to behave? It works just fine if I actually type NEW text in, then place a rectangle, but I'll have to work with the info in the .wmf file - can't re-type it all.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am working on a web image, and at the moment the image is finished, only it has a black background. Is there a way I can make it clear so that only the image shows up, wrather than the image and its background? The entire image is 1 layer right now, so the only way I know of to isolate the black is to use the magic wand tool,
This is the image, but the webpage has a grey background and so having that black boardering it really makes it look weird.
How do I make part of a background transparent?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to make an image I have which has a solid background (and a few other details inside it) transparent? so I can still see behind the graphics in the image yet the background at the same time... I know I've seen it before where the image sort of floats above the background... But I don't know how to accomplish this in Photoshop.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI got Photoshop to make the background transparent on pictures of furniture. I am having problems because the background is so complicated. I've only tried selecting different parts of the background with the quick selection tool, and then deleting (after adding another layer), but I'm not getting good results.
I see others talking about the lasso, magnetic lasso, layers, masking, etc, but I don't know where to start. I need to learn quickly because I'm on a deadline, Here's one of the pictures I need to do: (one of the most complicated) All I need to keep is the table and four chairs in the foreground.
When I open an image, it appears in the layers palette as layer 1. I want it to be the background layer.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a .jpg file of a band logo with white text (bordered by sketchy black outlines) on a white background. I'd like to keep the text and border effects the same but make the background transparent and then save it as a transparent .png or .gif so that just the white text (with the black text borders still included) appears the same on my website no matter what the background color of the page is. Here's the image: URL....
I want to keep all the black sketchy outlines intact and I want the white text itself to remain white and not transparent, I just want the white background surrounding it to be transparent. I've tried selecting just the text with all the little lines and such of the text borders included so that I can make it into a new layer and then paste it onto a transparent background but I've been having trouble successfully selecting it...the way the text is written, I haven't had much luck using the magic wand or quick selection tools to properly select it.
Another (less desirable) option would be to fill in the white background with the background color of the page I'm going to be posting it on (hex color #1d1d1d) but filling it in with the paint bucket in Photoshop CS5 fills in the majority of the white text as well so that hasn't really worked either.
