PS 5.5
I have a .tif file from a camera.
It has not been worked on in PS.
It has no selections, no layers, etc.
When I select filters, all the options,
including sharpen are grayed out.
How can I get access to the various filters?
My problem is that I have a layer in CS3 which is a rasterized layer with text in it. I am trying to apply a filter under the 'Distort' section but the ONLY one that I can select is the 'Lens Correction', every other filter in 'Distort' is grayed out.
Glowing Edges filter. It's grayed out. So I opened a number of different files and noted that it's always grayed out. I also noted that other filters are grayed out intermittently.
when I downloaded the update, it said that I must have Mask Pro installed. This problem started about 1 week ago, and I downloaded the most recent Adobe update today.
why certain filters are grayed out sometimes. I am creating an image right now and I want to apply a pixelate filter to a layer and it's grayed out along with brush strokes, artistic and a few others, yet a little over half of the filters are available.
Just downloaded PS CS5 on my new 64 bit computer. A lot of my basic filters are grayed out and I don't have access to them. Filters such as distort, brushes, artistic to name a few. I did download the 32 bit & 64 bit version.
I've just watched an Adobe TV video by Julianne Kost about video features in PS CS6.At one point she converts a video clip into a Smart Object in order to apply a PS filter, but when I do this, the entire Filters menu is grayed out.
The mp4 clip plays normally in the Timeline otherwise.
I have hardly ever used filters for any of my work as I have preferred using Xara's native tools and effects to get what I wanted. But recently, I was inspired by some animation work which used backgrounds painted in Photoshop. They used a lot of textures which enhanced the look of the animation and so I thought I'd try to simulate it within Xara.
It works very well and I can export it as a PSD retaining the layers and Alpha channel. But here come my questions.
1. How can I remove the two Alien Skin demo plugins as I already have the full versions.
2. Why don't the native Photoshop plugins--Artistic, Sketch, etc.--seem to work?
In CS3 you could change something to make all filters act like smart filters, even though they won't. I found this worked very well, now I have CS4 and would like to do the same but can't remember what to do to make it work.
I just downloaded a bunch of filters and I dragged them into the filters directory under plugins, but when I open photoshop, none of the filters are there.
I downloaded and installed GIMP 2.8.8 in Windows XP. The Filters menu option shows only Repeat last, Re-show last and Reset all filters.Nothing else in there. Where are the filters?
I am working on a dormitory project and need to provide a required light and ventilation schedule. I have figured out how to create a schedule for each level, but I want to isolate only the Dormitories and the Kitchenette (weed out all the other rooms such as corridor, elevator, storage, toilets, showers, stairs, trash, electrical, etc.).
I tried using seclusion filters, but there are too many items to exclude and cannot fit them all into the 4 filter categories. I am trying to just get the rooms that begin with 'D' and 'K'. I tried providing the variable 'Begins With' for D and in the next line 'Begins With' K, but then nothing shows up.
Is there a way to provide information to the filter that would allow it to show only rooms beginning with D AND K? I cannot seem to get it to work. I have been playing around with separation values within one filter category (i.e. 'Begins With' D, K) but apparently you cannot add multiple variables within one of the filter items.
I am experiencing a problem with the 3D tools on CS6 Extended. I have checked and my vRAM is 512mb which seemed to be the biggest source of this problem for other people, but my 3D tools are still greyed out. I have converted the working file from CYMK to RGB and the 3D tools have become available.
I have Photoshop CS6 13.0.1 x64 Extended and all options under the 3D manu are grayed out. My graphic adapter is nVidia GeForce GTX 650 (it has 1024 MB memory). I have Windows 7 x64 and 8GB RAM.
In Performance settings I have checked to use the graphic processor and in Advanced settings the drawing mode either Basic, Normal or Advanced, it doesn't make a difference.
I just tried to create a 3D postcard and got this message: why the 3D doesn't work and what can be done about it?Here is a fragment of System Info regarding the display driver. The line with OpenCL Version is empty, although I have checked "Use OpenCL", could this be a problem?
Memory available to Photoshop: 6314 MB Memory used by Photoshop: 32 % Image tile size: 128K Image cache levels: 4 OpenGL Drawing: Enabled. OpenGL Drawing Mode: Advanced OpenGL Allow Normal Mode: True. OpenGL Allow Advanced Mode: True.
In my Camera Raw 6.7, when using the Tone Curve, the RGB channels are grayed out and can not be switched on, probably because the Raw Defaults are missing.
When I copy a selection from one image in CS6 I am unable to paste it into a second image (same file format, TIF). The Paste command is grayed out. In CS4 I never had this issue. Running it in OS X Snow Leopard.
At first my 3D menu wasn't showing up, but after reinstalling, I was able to get it. Though, the problem now is that the 3D menu itself is greyed out. I have an up to date graphics card, more than sufficient VRAM, and an overall powerful machine; I'm sure it can run 3D.

I do have some issues with the inverse selection. Once I finished using "Pen Tool" and all dots have been connected I go to Select-Inverse to select the image but unfortunately the"Inverse" is grayed out. I remebere having this issue few years ago . I did called the Adobe Tech Support and have been navigated to the program folder to replace some of the files that have been corrupted. After that everything was working fine.
I'm having difficulty getting the 3D features to work in Photoshop CC. They're grayed out and I have updated drivers, uninstalled/installed, etc. I'm hoping I just missed something and don't need to upgrade something as it is a work computer (on Windows 7 Professional). I'm pretty new to the Adobe programs and would like to explore the 3D features.

I'm trying to create a reflection effect as noted on one of the team photoshop tuts. Unfortunately, in one of the steps, I'm supposed to use transform > perspective on a layer, but that option is grayed out!
(Windows, photoshop 5.0) The help menu says it'll be grayed out unless the "entire path is selected." Damn, I just got used to layers....what's this Path stuff? Why isn't it mentioned in the tut instructions?
My current system includes Windows XP (32bit) SP3 with 4 Gb Ram, ATIV4900 FirePro video card, Dell U2711 monitor (supports 10bit), Version 8.85.7.3 of the catalysts drivers.
I have enabled 10 bit within Catalyst and went to Preferences Performance to enable the 'Advanced" mode of OpenGL only to find it grayed out. I searched and read where others had had similar issues though most were on a 64 bit system. OpenGL version is 6.14.10.10795.
My computer is using the Dell provided driver for the U2711 monitor.I am also using the display port cable to drive the monitor at its native 2560 x 1440 resolution.
I am trying to apply poster edges to an image. I use CS6. My prefs are set to show all filters. I have made sure the image is 8-bit. The Artistic filter is still grayed out.
When I uninstall my ATI Drivers scrubby zoom works and also the animated zoom works. When I install the drivers for my ATI 6970 GPU they don't. Under Performance the OpenGL is selected, the video card detected is AMD Radeon HD 6900 Series. I have checked that I have the latest drivers. What do I do?
