I've upgraded from CS to CS4 and find what I think are local cache files in photo directories from both versions. It appears CS wrote AdobeP8M.md0, AdobeP8P.tb0 and AdobeP8T.tb0, while CS4 writes .BridgeCache and .BridgeCacheT. Can I delete the many GB's of Adobe P8* files with no ill effects? I no longer use and have uninstalled CS.Â
I am running out of space on my SSD that elelments likes to place all the cache file onto. Is there a way to delete the older cache files just keeping the most recent which I assume has the latest catalog information? Is there a way to move the cache files to a different location that has more space keeping the system in its current state?
Here's the text:  1. Should Media Cache Files and Media Cache Database be in separate folders? Does it matter?  2. Can I open an "in progress' project from P Pro CS4 with CC P Pro and continue editing?
Using CC for a few weeks and I am not yet convinced of its quality over my faithful CS5. I have an issue with files not opening, they may once when I start Illustrator, but then they do not again. Illustrator doesn't freeze, it allows me to carry on with the file I am working on but I can not open any legacy file?. I have tried opening by double click, by file>open, I have opened a legacy file back in CS5 copied the graphics and attempted to paste them into my CC document and nothing, the only way I can get around this is to shut the program and or machine down and start again? Â Also the same with fonts, if I have a file open, and open fonts afterwards, Illustrator has a mind of its own whether it wants to show the fonts or not. Some days its happy to, others it has a bad day and will not show them in the list at all no matter how many times I reload them, only a shut down fixes this? Â Is there a preference I am missing to allow legacy files?
I'm using LR 4.3, and would like to know how to determine which .dat cache files are associated with a certain folder of images. I don't know programming code, and, when I open a .dat cache file, I cannot determine which image file it goes with.  I've noticed that when I remove a folder from Lightroom, the cache files for the images in that folder remain, because the size of the cache doesn't change. I know I can flush the cache, but I don't want to have to reload tons of .dat files already present in the cache.
Wondering if there is any guidance on retention of .dat files in the folder called UserLocal SettingsApplication DataCameraRawCache. I have close to 1 GB of .dat files in that folder, and am looking for ways to keep down the storage in my O/S (boot) partition.
We have 8 designers all running identicle systems, but one user is constantly using up their disk space quota, I've traced the problem to the fact that when they use illustrator it writes loads of 16.8 Mb files to their Library > Cache folder all called .afpdeleted followed by a series of numbers.  This doesn't happen with any of the other users.  He is using:  Mac Pro 2.66Ghz 12Gb RAM OS X 10.7.5 ( this is as far as this mac can be updated) Network Home Login  It is happening on illustrator CS6 and also on illustrator CC. What is happening and why it is only happening to this one user?
I have noticed that a file is xrefed much faster if the file has been opened at some point. (Wtih the file I tested with it was 45 sec vs 1,5 sec) This must mean that the file is cached and can very quickly opened later if it has been opened.
I have an application that xref other files as overlay xref's. This is very slow since the xrefed files haven't been opened. And it will be this slow every time i xref them since they are never opened. Is there a way I can cache the files manually or something like that?
We have a very old AutoCAD program that works great for us. We have new designs that are coming in but not in the old format of LEGACY. Even the .AI format is not usable. Without the Legacy format our CAD designer has to do his best to match up the work but it does not come out the same.
How can we take the PSD files (usually created in CS2 or CS3) and convert them to Legacy/Illustrator format?
how can i save a ph file with a lower version... i have photoshop 8 and i need to save this file in a photoshop 7 or lower version and i dont know how to do it... somebody told me about saving it as a "legacy format" now...
I'm copying RAW files from a shoot onto my network RAID drive in a per-album folder, from where I then import into a new LR catalog (I'm using LR 4.1) on my Windows laptop for that album. Â I'm finding that editing RAW files on a network drive from a wireless laptop is awfully slow (not to mention not being able to continue the work offline somewhere else), so I'd like to cache those files on my speedy SSD drive just until I'm done editing and exporting/publishing that album. Â I back up my per-album catalog onto the network folder alongside the RAW files since that's my IT-managed master repository. When I'm done editing, I'd purge the cached files and just keep the catalog previews on my limited capacity SSD. Â So, is there a way to tell LR to, for one/all files imported from a location (in my case a network folder), look in an alternate location for the identical files? Since I create per-album catalogs in per-album folders, there wouldn't be filename clashing. Either LR can provide this caching behavior on its own or I'd manually copy files from the network folder to a local folder and tell LR to look there first. Â I don't really want to make copies of files into secondary folders within LR since then it's a hassle to merge edits on the cached copy to its master copy (I haven't done this, but I'd imagine so).
It's a small issue, but one that was a no brainer in CS5 - I use Legacy Brightness Contrast about 80 times a day, and CS6 no longer keeps it ticked, I have to manually enable it every single time, and by about the 57th time of having to do this every day, it becomes a more than a little irritating. As some of you will remember, CS5 just kept it ticked once you selected it. Â The new brightness / contrast is great for certain tasks, not so great for others. I, and I'm sure many others rely on the legacy version.
In Photoshop CS3 is there a way to save a file so it's compatible with CS2? I'm working on a file in CS3 and when the file is opened in CS2 there are "layer is corrupt" errors.
I am trying to delete files in the photoshop organizer (version 12) but keeping the message, "The requested operation could not be completed because the catalog is currently locked by another process." It won't let me add new photos to the organizer either.Â
Uploaded photos to Elements 11 but instead of individual photos they went to Contact Sheets, now can't upload same photos as I get message saying they are already in Catalog. But can't find them. Do I need to delete Contact Sheets and the upload photos in . NEF format into Elements 11 for PP? If so how do I do this?
It appears when I copy a folder of photos up to a server, it's also copying some hidden files that nobody can do anything with, causing problems. For instance, say my folder name is Photos, I just drag and drop the entire Photos folder onto the server.  But if inside Photos i have a dog.jpg and cat.jpg file, there are also hidden files names ._dog.jpg and ._cat.jpg. it's those two hidden files that are causing problems when people go to work with that folder.is it something in OSX I need to change?
With DSLR cameras we shoot tens of thousands of pictures a year and delete hundreds from our hard drives over time. So how do you delete hundreds of missing missing files that still exist in the catalog, which cause the "Reconnect Missing Files" screen to show? Does a setting exist to remove all missing files from the catalog?
I having trouble with closing documents and even quitting Photoshop CC. I tried the menu, shortcuts and the close button on the document frame.
Photoshop reacts to the shortcut by marking "file"/"Photoshop" in the menu when i push command+w or commmand+q but nothing happens.
I have to force quit photoshop each time. All other buttons work exept when i try to delete history states in the history panel. Nothing happens when pushing the "delete current state" button.
I downloaded a trial version of Elements 12. I used Elements 6 a few years ago on a PC, now I have a MAC and there's a lot of difference between version 6 and 12.  I downloaded all of my I-photo files into the Organizer but would like to delete them now that I realize they are all jumbled up and basically useless. There are 5,000 photos & several hundred folders.  I can't figure out how to select multiple folders to delete them from the organizer.
Don't know what I did but since yesterday when I download files from my nikon using the organizer to import I no longer get the would you like to delete files on your camera option. How do I reset that? Also is there an easy setting that will cause organizer to be the default when I plug in my nikon?
