View 1 RepliesI have converted the same image from color to black and white using the channel mixer and using the black and white adjustment, and there appears to be a slight, almost imperceptible, loss of sharpness in the image converted with the channel mixer. Is there any research showing that a loss of sharpness will, in fact, occur when using using channel mixer when converting color images to black and white?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I convert a picture in BW from a channel (for ex : green channel) and compare it with the result from the Channel Mixer technique (Monochrome, R : 0%, G : 100%, B : 0%), there's a little difference.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was simply wondering the best means in Paint.Net to use a black and white image and use it as the alpha channel of my image, with white being opaque and black being fully transparent. I looked through the plugins on the site and didn't see anything that seemed to resemble what I was after.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to make a texture for a model in a video game, and I want some of it to be transparent. This is done by editing a text file that tells the model to use the textures alpha channel. things in the alpha channel that are white are transparent and things that are black aren't.
But I don't really know how to edit the textures alpha. Here is a video I've seen that explains how to make one in photoshop: [URL]......

I turned off the split toning, but my photos are still in sepia tones , I use Asus Vivobook S200, Windows 8.1. I think this is weird, because this problem does not happen in Lightroom video tutorials in Youtube

I'm running CS2 on an HP Pavilion with an Intel Pentium D CPU 2.80 GHz 3 G RAM on a 32 bit Vista OS. Last time I used this function it was fine but now, every time I try to create a new channel it's black, not transparent, not white but black. Whatever's pasted into it looks like an X-Ray. What have I turned on?

So that when I place the final psd on top of a block of solid colour in Indesign the gradient shows the background colour through where the black fades off.

Making a mask from a selection the not-selected area is 95% black, not 100%.
So the not-selected area IS affected if the mask is applied, say using an adjustment layer.
Is there a preference somewhere, or a key command that was inadvertently applied?
I'm using PSE8. I was using Filter>Render>Clouds and it was working for me. I must have done something because the clouds that are rendered are black & white not Blue and white. My photo is of course a color image. How I can correct this or what I need to do to get back to the default setting that will render blue & white instead of black and white?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhat exactly should I click to view Channel editor full screen or in a resizable view port?
Â
Currently it is displayed at the bottom put of the UI only and it is not possible to do anything on such a small view of the editor....
Â
Brian Mulligan wrote in this blog:"If you hold SHIFT and double-click in a numeric field that has a keyframe set, then the Channel Editor will open up full screen at the top of the UI and switch to 1 up view. The numeric field you clicked on will be highlighted and framed."
Â
Where is "numeric field that has a keyframe set"Â actually located?
Â
When I shift and double-click on the numeric field in "Channel hierarchy" (on the left of the Animation curve window) a CALCULATOR pops up.
I would like to draw parts in 3d view which look very basic, i.e. out of a book.
Example:
white block with black lines so you can see it is 3d.background should also be white.
How do i set autocad (2012/2013) to do this. I would like the model space to be the same and not just for printing.
In photoshop there is a tab beside the layers tab, that allows you to add a shaded alpha channel to a .dds file.
I need to add a black alpha channel to a .dds file.
I've tried every alpha pluggin I can find but cannot replicate this effect.
And if I open a .dds file created in photoshop with a black alpha channel it is completely invisible in paint.net.
Why is it completely invisible in paint.net but not in photoshop?
How can I add a black alpha channel to a .dds file in paint.net?
png texture with alpha channel but the transparency seems to be white.
How do I let the transparency in the png texture look through to the background?(alpha blend)
I should have spoke up sooner because I thought this would get fixed pretty quickly but I just upgraded to CS6 and it's still broken. I use Photoshop to generate color separations for screen printing. We do simulated spot process which means we print the prodomient colors of the image rather than gambling that CMYK will work. We print white because garments are often any color you can imagine. So I use the DCS.eps format alot. I place this linked in Illustrator. Up untill CS3 this worked fine. I skipped 4, but upgraded to 5. Five doesn't display the white channel. (These files are Multichannel mode, each channel is a Spot channel. saved as dcs/eps) I have not tried output. It may print fine.
The thing is I end up with a client perched on my shoulder like a buzzard and if the white parts of the design or the white channel/screen isn't their to support the top/upper colors I look like I don't know what I'm doing, or I left the white out, etc. I've been in both offset printing and screen printing and T&T (trinkets and trash) for a long time. Messing up paper is one thing. Messing up an Under Armor or Nike or you name it garment is a whole different ballgame so they are pretty tense when it comes to what they see. I already have to explain that it looks pixelated and rough because it's an 8 bit preview but will print sharp.

Basically a CAD program I use only exports PNG files. The CAD program can export in black and white and in color. The color PNG files open fine in CorelDraw. The black and white PNG files just show up as a black filled box.
I attached an example PNG file. Example PNG
I have an image where i chopped seperate parts of different pictures, desaturated all 4, but on the one, there seems to be more "grays" in the black and white photo... i want the grays to be more black. Messing with the brightness and contrast isnt doing it...

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm attempting to render a series of images in the cloud and my plan is to take these images into Photoshop so that I can apply a background from an image I possess.
Â
To do this I need the background to be a plain white background, export as a TIFF or PNG, then add an alpha channel in Photoshop. The problem is that whatever settings I apply in Revit, the cloud rendering always gives me the standard grey / blue horizon background. I have changed the render settings using the render setup, through the view properties, through the graphic display, still no joy....
