how to select a portion of a photo with the pen tool, save the selection and use the selections as .jpg to create a montage of pictures for a newsletter.
I already know about the Select-->By Color and then Edit-->Clear method of removing all of a certain color from an image. The thing I was wondering was what would be the best method in Gimp to select only certain portions of a certain color in an image and have them cleared out, not all of that color.
I attached an image to this post. In that image, I want to only remove the white background, not the white in the eyes of the white in the hands.
When dealing with blocks, in this instance. If I select the entire object, I get one type of color in the layer pull down. If I select a portion of the object, I get a different color-what is going on? Is there a switch or something that I am missing?
I'm brand new to GIMP, I just downloaded it to get into some simple pixel art.
I was going fine, but I've run into a problem. I'm trying to select a portion of my image using the rectangle tool, and then move it to a different location using the move tool. However, when clicking and dragging the move tool it shifts the entire image, not just the portion I have selected. I read in the FAQ that you need to press "Enter" to finalise the selection before you move it, but even doing that doesn't work.
This was working fine for me earlier, I'm not sure what I've done to break it. I've tried resetting my tool preferences back to defaults but that has not worked.
I'm trying to select a portion of a path by using the direct selection tool and shift clicking on the anchor points. But when I click and drag the brush over onto the path, the brush stroke is applied to the entire path..... which I dont want to happen. I only want it applied to the section of the path.
I need to get the visible portion of a particular layer in the final image.Lets say i have 4 layers and some portion of each layer is visible in the flattened image i would like to get the portion from each of the layers. The input will be in xcvf format.I will ideally want to automate this and output to file in some format looking like this,
Layer1 ---> Co-ordinates of visible polygon from this particular layer in the image . Layer2 ---> And so on.
How to proceed with the script. I think brute force is to take each non-transparent pixel and and find the same pixel in all above layers if it is not found it will be added to the region.Or something exists like selection from alpha combined with multiple layers ?
Or if there is a way to find out for an image with all layers visible which pixel came from which layer ?
Windows 7; Photoshop CS6. Â I have a printer/scanner that is attached on another (Windows XP) machine on the network. I have no problems seeing and using the printer over the network, but is there a way that the scanner can be shared as well?
When I attempt to share a photo involving the photoshop showcase, I select a photo and then select share, the photoshop video showcase is offered and not the showcase service for photos. I have created an account at photoshop showcase.com but it will not allow me to upload as apparently it does not know I have PSE 11 and PSPE 11.
Does anyone know how to blur a portion of an image in gradient-like fashion to give the impression of an unfocussed lens? Can you do it with a transparent layer mask?
I need to move a portion of a jpeg image (a logo) a little bit to one side, then I will fill in the empty space. Do I need to save it as a .psd first? And which tool do I use? I was trying to use one tool, not sure which one, and it told me the layer was locked. I couldn't figure out how to unlock the layer.
Shot a story on studio background, need to reach 11x14 crop without cutting into top or bottom of frame. Want to extend sides of picture which are somewhat consistent in light and color..
how to edit an image. I now wanted to save it and share it on facebook but it is telling me I can't because the file size is too large. How do I save it or compress it smaller so I can share it on facebook or send it as an email?
I had it uploading to FB yesterday and today it won't go. This has happened before and then when I try again a day later, it will upload. This makes no sense. I've rebooted, attempted to turn off firewall, reset the service in preferences. All I get is a white box and it just hangs there after I go to Share > Facebook. Â I am using PSE Organizer 11 on a Windows 7 machine.
I will soon have access to Premier Pro at a local Public TV Provider. I am considering purchasing Premier Elements for my home computer. I was wondering if I could do a rough cut using Premier Elements and then polish it using Premier Pro?
I have what would seem to be a simple problem. I cannot successfully send a photo as an email attachment, using Elements 11 Organizer "share" function. I go thru the easy steps and hit the send button but nothing happens. I suspect something or some pathway in my operating system (microsoft vista) or local email provider is not confifured or set up properly.
I need to share photographs in an online photography class I am taking by setting up an album and giving the class access to look at them with an URL link. Can I do this using Photoshop Elements?
I know this discussion title is a bit murky, but the problem is a bit odd. I have Photoshop CS6 v13.1.2. In this version, I will activate the Select Tool, check Auto-Select: Layer, check Show Transform Controls, and then while using the Select Tool I will drag to create a rectangle to select multiple layers with content within the specified area.Â
Unfortunately, this action only works when I begin the selection from outside of the canvas area. If started from within the canvas area, no rectangle will appear, it will show me a measurement of my selection size, and then no layers will be selected upon release.  This cannot be working as intended right? I mean multi-select dragging cannot be intended to only work when started outside of the canvas right? Is there some way to fix this issue? Is this a bug? See the images below for more information on this issue.
I work with shapes all day designing mobile apps. Thus, I'm constantly selecting and resizing rounded rectangles. When resizing I have to individually select all four points of a side to move it without distorting the rounded corners. I cannot click and drag, because that will activate any shapes underneath the one I want to select. Â I'm looking for a plugin or alternative to easily select the entire side of a rounded rectangle. IE - I click one point on a side, and it auto selects all four points on that side, or the like.
I remember being able to select anything on the canvas with my Quick Select tool in CS5.5 Photoshop Extended. Recently, making the switch to CC, the Quick Select tool will show my slection as I drag along the canvas, but once I release the mouse, the selection seems to be reduced to the visible pixels. I was intentionally trying to fill the transparent sections with my effects as well. Â Mind you, the magic wand will select transparent pixels just fine, but it also adds unintentional sections which is irritating. I should probably also pint out that I already looked into the "lock transparence" option in the layers, but I did not activate anything of the sort.
I am new to Photoshop. I have version cs5. I have several photos that were taken through a Blue tinted plexiglass window. Some or all of the photo has acquired the tint. Also parts may have a reflection minor of people standing around. How do I remove the tint?
