Photoshop :: Brushes Colour With Transparent Background

Oct 20, 2005

when I use the brush tool, it doesn't apply the full colour. It's very pale (as if the opacity is low), but the opacity is 100%? When you go over an area with the colour that has already been applied with the brush, it deepens/darkens the colour, but still not full colour. I believe this happens when there is a transparent background. Is there a setting to control this? Is this the only circumstance where this happens?

(i.e. can you set this when there is a colour background)?

Can you turn it off with a transparent background, so when you apply the brush, the full colour comes through and doesn't change (deepen/darken), when brushed over again?

Photoshop :: How To Make A Colour Transparent

Aug 23, 2007

I understand it is possible to make one colour transparent when you save a photoshop file for the web. This is useful to make objects appear to float over backgrounds on your web page.

My problem is that I don't know HOW to do this! When I save for web, I can't see how I select a colour to be transparent. If you set the background as transparent when you create your image, it just gets saved as a white background.

Paint.NET :: Painting With Transparent Brushes

Oct 14, 2011

I've started to try out digital painting, and have been looking for a paint program with the basic features I want without a bunch of extra stuff to get in my way and slow the program down. I've tried a few dozen programs at least, and so far I like Paint.net the most. There is one problem that is preventing me from using it exclusively over something like the GIMP or SAI, and that is the way it handles transparent brushes.

When I go to paint with an opaque brush the end result is just hideous. I've attached an image to demonstrate what I mean, next to the type of stroke I want that I did in the GIMP.

Attached Thumbnails.

Photoshop :: Brushes Only Work On A Black Background

My photoshop brushes only work on a black background. And they only work as white. I figured it was just the one group, but it isn't. It's ALL of them. Did I do something wrong? Or what's up with it? When I downloaded them, they showed the preview of the brushes in several colors. Yet mine won't work. Why is that? (btw, i'm using photoshop CS1)

GIMP :: Cut Out Background From Logo To Get Transparent Background

Sep 16, 2011

I was asked to cut out the background from a logo to make it transparent so the logo would look nice on a variety of backgrounds. I've been given a good quality jpeg file.

What I did was I selected (by colour) the background (white), inverted the selection, copied it and pasted as a new image.

It's all fine (the logo itself doesn't have any other elements) but there's still some whiteish/greyish outline around certain elements of the logo.

If I were to do it manually, it'd probably take ages. What would be the best way to accomplish it?

Photoshop :: Changing Background Colour

Jun 20, 2008

Is there a way to change the background layer colour once you've started a document?

When I first created my document (in PS CS2, if that makes a difference) it automatically set my background colour as sepia, instead of white.

I'm now working on a painting and just realised that I can't use white; PS is calling this sepia colour white, and I can't get anything lighter.

Is there a way to fix this? I've done it on a few pictures now and I don't want to have to start everything over.

I've just tried making a new document with a white background layer and the same thing still happens! What is this?! I'm sure this can't be right! I'm on some sort of sepia scale; I can't even do grays. *desperate*

Paint Shop Pro :: Circle With Transparent Filling Colour

I work with a German version and so I do not know the exact English words of the objects and functions. What I want to do is drawing circles with an outline (I know how to do that) but with a filling (background) colour which has a transparency of for example 50%. Is that possible and how should I do that?

Must I enter the outline and the filling part on two different layers to get the transparency for the filling colour?

Photoshop :: Transparent Background ...

Nov 22, 2004

I have a file with 2 layers, one (Layerone) that is blank, i.e. no fill or anything. The other layer (Layertwo) has text. I save the file as a .gif, select transparent, select matte as none, and keep getting a white background when I upload the file to my website.

I also tried copying the text Layer to the clipboard, creating a a new file with the background set as 'transparent', then pasting the text only layer into the new file. I still get the white background when I upload to website.

It can't be this hard to get a transparent background. What am I doing wrong?
