View 1 RepliesI've seen some pictures that's so "earth" looking (ie. reddish yellow, with all the other channels greatly reduced), quite like it.
Does anyone here know if there's any Variations file (.ava) available to filter an image to get that look. I've tried many option, such as reduce Saturation from repective channels, different variation... But not successful.
I am building a logo and as a part of that I want to have an image of the earth like the Mozilla, firefox logo, but I need a complete image of the earth to start with.
how I would go about creating such an image. Should I start with and actual photo of the earth? What kind of filters should I research to create a globe similar (though not necessarily the same colour) to the firefox logo.
I have Google Earth screen shot saved as a .jpg. I would like to set the scale. I know it will be crude. I have a tractor trailer that is 8.6 ft wide in the image. I'm trying to get a rough scale to add in a turf area to show folks what it will look like.Â

View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm making a poster for a friend of mine, and he wants the earth to be heart shaped.
I have a picture of the earth, opened in photoshop. My question is, how do I make it heart shaped.
I tried creating another layer, and using the custom shape thing to create a heart, and then tried clone stamping the earth pic into the heart, but it didn't work. The error I got was;
"could not use clone stamp because content of layer is not directly editable"
Is there a way to make the earth into a heart shape?
If this is the wrong forum, please let me know, and direct me to the right forum.

The font size shown should be double the actual display 36pt, but it's showing as 18pt. Do you know why it's happening?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create a "blue glow/light rays" around an image of the planet Earth and I can't just seem to make it look realistic like this image here:
How to do this technique? You can find a planet earth image by searching for NASA BLUE MARBLE and it's free.
I am using 2012 and rendering with Mentalray. Any procedure that would allow one to create the atmospheric glow that is present in photos of the Earth from space. Usually the glow is just seen on the horizon line. If I tried to create a volume light out of an omni, it would tend to wash out the globe. any links to a more photo-realistic unwrapped Earth textures than those that I was able to Google up.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to load the Google Earth Extension in AutoCAD Map 3D 2011 on a 32 bit machine (XP)
I keep getting this error in Map: Import GE Image unknown command.
Demandload is set to 3. I have loaded the Google Earth.cuix. I have added it the support file search path.
We have it loaded on many machines that are 64 bit and have no problems. Is there something I have to do with the 32 bit machine?
I'd like to do a grading in order to get a volume of earth work needed. It's a very easy proposed surface, but I've never done a grading before. I have a surface that is basically a football field that is graded from one end zone to the other with a slight uphill grade. At the end of the uphill grade is a berm the length of the endzone. That berm needs to be higher, and the uphill grade from endzone to the other endzone needs to be flatter. The dirt that comes out of the flattening will be pushed up on top of the berm on the opposite endzone to make the berm taller.Â
The new surface should start at existing grade on the low endzone, go on .10% up to the other goaline, then on a 2:1 up to 24 ft above the low endzone elevation. Think of a firing range where you shoot from the low endzone into a berm on the far endzone. The berm isn't tall enough, so they need to find dirt from the surface to put on top of the berm.Â
I'm using AI CC now, but I noticed this problem in earlier versions of AI: If I want to place a one-word label on an illustration I move the type insertion cursor to a speific point on the screen image and click, but then the flashing insertion point, where the label will actually start, pops up elsewhere, usually a line or two above where the cursor was, and a pica or two to the left, forcing me to type the label, then move it into position rather than simply typing it in the right place and moving on. The problem is merely annoying, but I'd like to fix it. It's probably a matter of ignorance-I simply haven't read the right documentation, but I don't know what to call the problem. Where can I find out how to change the position of the cursor relative to the insertion point?

Â
Check preferences for "Text": "Select text-object by path only" should be off. Checked. It was off. Didn't fix it.
Check the toggle for Show/Hide Edges in the View menu. Cmd(Ctrl)-H. Checked. Edges Showing. Didn't fix it.
Trashed my Prefeerences. Didn't fix it.
the type tool won't let me insert any type whatsoever in JPG or PSD files. I click the type tool and then click somewhere on the image and all it gives me is a dot but no flashing cursor. As I said, resetting my prefs/settings while starting up Photoshop did not help. Another weird thing it does is that when I go to Canvas Size for a medium sized image, it says that the width is 588 inches and the height is 288 inches.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhat happened with Google Earth extension? IÂ cannot find it in labs. I've installed Map2012 on new laptop and I'm sure I had Google Earth plug in on the old one.
with where do I find GE for Map 2012?
So I missed getting the extension by a day and every where I look for it just points back to the labs where it is no longer available. I used Autodesk CAD and REVIT full design suites 2012.

After the changes, I tried to re-export it to Google Earth, but for some reason it's coming in really small. I have my units and zones set to what they have always been. The surface is highlighted in yellow, but it should take up roughly the size of the red circle.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using AutoCAD LT 2010 and I am wondering how I can upload from my dwg file onto Google Earth? We do have one user at work who has a drawing that we believe was uploaded onto Google Earth from AutoCAD but it appears it is loaded onto Google Earth using a KMZ file. Would I need to create a KMZ plotter or am I looking in the total wrong direction when trying to get this onto Google Earth?

View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to export a layer from Map 3D to google earth? It appears the built in google earth extension only exports linework that is part of the DWG and not GIS layers.
For example, I have arcview shapefiles of drainage areas for a storm drain report that have been connected to throught the data connect palette, and stylized through the task pane. I would think there should be an easy way to export this drainage layer directly to a KML file that can then be opened up in Google Earth. How to go about it other than converting a map to a dwg and then exporting it to GE?
I ran into a problem after just installing Civil 3D 2010 when I tried to import an image and elevation data from google earth. The message box says the following:
The Feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'Google Earth.msi' in the box below.
When I capture the elevation data from google earth, the elevations on the grid once in Autocad Map 3D are not the same as shown in google earth. It seems that the elevation have been scaled up.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am trying to build a spherical, solid, earth map.
I have built one before by extruding a flat projection of the earth map through a hollow solid sphere shell, and using subtract. (I had to do it in sections, and projecting in different angles until I completed the world map). There was an intermediate step of subtracting the extruded map from a solid block and creating a void shape of the map within the block, then subtracting the block from the hollow sphere).
The problem I had is that the edges of the map where not cut off in an angle towards the center of the globe, and I need all the edges be sliced towards the center of the globe.
I am trying now to use the LOFT command and create a solid map that tapers down towards the center of the globe. I have bought these special map projections (2D) called "gnomonic projections". They were originated by projecting from the center of an earth globe the contour of the continents over projeccion plains outside the globe. (this was done using a map cartography software and converted to .dwgs).
These projections are made of thousands (or millions) of polylines joined together, and the probelm is that AutoCAD gets stuck when trying to use LOFT. I was able to LOFT just a little island, but it gave me surfaces instead of a solid. If I use this method I will have to do hundreds (or thousands) of little sections with LOFT to achieve the entire map.
Any better way to build this solid spherical map?. Or where I can buy this spherical solid of the world continents from? I have seen these solids sometimes in the background of television news programs, I just need a little better contour definition than what the show.
I want to prepare base map by Google earth. How to prepare base map of Jeddah city only (Saudi Arabia). It show clear view of all road name etc.
How can prepared base map of Jeddah City so that it will use in our all autocad 2010 drawings.
Working on a poster in Illustrator. Have added area type, using the type tool. Now I'd like to increase the size of one line. I can't select or edit any of the type with the type tool. I moved the type to a new layer, saved, closed Illustrator, restarted my Mac (OS X 10.7.4). Looked in preferences, in case there's an issue there. No luck.
Â
By the way, I also don't see handles when in the selection tool any more. Don't know if that's related.

I am using the DWGPublishToGE tool in AutoCAD Map 3D 2012. I can get the images and blocks to finally show up in a fairly clear manner. I was using earlier versions of AutoCAD before and everything was exporting all choppy.
Now that I have the linework in I was hoping to accomplish two more things:
Â
The line types aren't coming across properly (e.a.: dashed lines are continuous)The text, both within blocks and along the path, only comes in as text. It's not fixed to where it is in the drawing.  For example, if I have a block with HH in it the line work comes in normally but the text part of the block does not.
See my two images I have attached. The first is the CAD version and what I am hoping to get to in GE. The second is what is happening in GE.
