I have saved a image (as a BMP file) with a transparent background. I want to use this image as my wallpaper. However when I show this image on my desktop (as the wallpaper), the background shows as white white color while I was hoping that I will only see the image and the background will be transparent .

Now in Corel Photo Paint X5 this doesn't work any more. What have changed and what am I doing wrong. According to documentation it seems to be correct.
Not sure what photoshop version it was BUT there was an option under the menu to convert image to transparent background. I know it wasn't in CS5... it's in CS6. If not, what's the quick and dirty way to get rid of the white background from a JPG?

the center flower is 100% transparent, but it still keeps shadow and embossed area. I used blend mode for testing, but everytime if I make it to 100% transparent, I lose everything, it becomes a flat transparent area.

No I have a drop shadow on the image and when I save as a gif for one the image get's muddy and the drop shadow dose not overlay right. Is there a way to do this? So I created two images.
The first image of the star I created on a black background. It uses the artistic > plastic wrap filter and hue/saturation effects. I was able to get this image the way I wanted.
The second image for the lighting effect, I created on a transparent background because I wanted to be able to apply the image over the star and give it the effect of running through the star. I also wanted to add its own hue/saturation effect separate from the star.
I was unable to apply any hue/saturation effect to the lighting effect image. I tried adding placing this image on top of the first (the star) and adding an adjustment layer for hue/saturation, however, when I added the colorization both images took the effect. I have the effect I want for the star, I want to be able to add the same effect, yet different coloring to the lighting waves.
I tried everything to let an image disappear on the borders. The problem is that I want to set another image as background so the borders have to become transparant.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have several different png files, each with a shape on a transparent background (for example a white square). So for example one has the square in the upper left corner, one has it in the lower right corner. When I copy and paste each separate file into a new file, each in a separate layer, each shape appears exactly where it is supposed to be. There are NO extra or hidden pixels. SO I have one file with two layers, each from the different png files, and the squares do not show up in the middle, but in the places where they are supposed to be.
When I tried to create my own (I use Photoshop CS2), when I copy and paste, the shape appears in the center unless I put an imaginary or hidden pixel in the opposite corner (and even then, the shape doesn't appear EXACTLY where I want it and is off a few pixels).
These separate files can do the same thing in all different programs (paint shop pro, photoshop elements, etc.). SO that no matter what program you use, when you copy each png file and paste it in a new file, it is placed where it is supposed to be rather than in the center.
HOW did they do it? Again, there are no extra or hidden pixels in the opposite corner.
Is it possible to save an extracted image as a JPEG file with transparent background? I would like to use the following image of a Christmas ornament without the white background.
Using Photoshop 7 and the magnetic lasso, I had no problem extracting the original image from a white background. I then open a new transparent canvas and copy the extracted image to this canvas. However when I choose to save as a JPEG image, I'm back with the white background. I see in the Matte menu I can choose other backgrounds, e.g. black, grey, etc.. But is there any way to save the extracted pixels without any background.
The reason I ask is that I want to use this extracted image in PrintShop, a card making program. I would like to be able to insert the image of the Christmas ornament without any background. Very often in creating a card you've already created a colored background. It would be nice to be able to insert the ornament without the rectangular white background.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI open a jpg image. It becomes "background" and locked in layers panel. I want to edit it so i click in layers panel, and get a box where I can call the layer a name and it changes from background to layer ( in my beginner´s terminology...)
When I click on "Ok" the image disappears, or really i think it becomes transparent, because in layer´s panel it is still visible. What has happened? I have done well all day, and suddenly this happens.

I'm having this odd problem that I can't seem to figure out. I have a web image (gif format) with a transparent background (deleted the background layer before saving as a gif), and when the image is against a darker webpage, the text of the image (that is basically all the image is, just blended text) has white pixels around the edges of the text. Did I do something wrong when I deleted the background, or how I saved the file???
