View 1 RepliesDoes anyone know the technique to apply a soft focus to an image using the actions palette? Some would refer to it as "the move"...

on the main image of this poster. Certain areas of the picture have a soft focus.
how to do the stuff I was w/ the older version!
With the new photoshop how do I add the soft glow effect on portrait subjects?
I have been having real problems with Lightroom 3.6 showing RAW files (from Canon 400D) as very soft focus, whereas Zoombrowser and Photoshop Elements show the images as crisp and sharp.
I have wasted hours trying to sharpen images which did not need sharpening as I assumed my photos were bad, but they are not.
This has also been found to be the case on other photos taken in RAW with another Canon 50D. So the fault seems generic.
how to get the following effects like the photos shown below...I've tried saturation, highlights, brightness/contrast and still can't seem to get this beautiful soft warm glow effect.

I think he did something with saturation but the dark thing?
What is this effect called? I'd like to do some research into it so I can master the technique but I don't know where to startlooking.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am working on a company logo that the owner wants to have a glowing yellow ring on a white background. I have a psd file that someone else created that looks great in color, but when you print it out in black and white, the yellow ring and glow disappear. I have been trying to tell the owner that you can not have bright yellow ring on white and have it come out well when printed in black and white, but he won't let it go.
My question. Can it be done? Is there a way to have some other effect, or gray scale in the background so when printed in black and white it shows well, but when in color it is hidden?
I don't know what version it was created in, but I have the whole CS4 extended creative suite at my disposal.
Once again 'Glow' lens effect is doing my head in. No matter what size or intensity I randomly dial in nothing happens.
I've gotten this to work before, but it has always been a random working/not working effect for me.
Do the spinners have any relation to model units or system unit scale? Or is it dependant on days of the week or something to do with the tides / moon?

I was wondering if it was possible to give your text a 'glow' effect? I've fiddled around but haven't been able to get the result I'm looking for exactly.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there a hotkey to add/edit a soft effect?
I know that the Euphonix panel we have has an edit soft effect button. But it doesn't add the effect as well. (plus you have to hit the "NAV" button to make it accessible)
Does this function already exist?
I am looking to make a specific effect on one of my videos. I want to have a radial glow that will pulse, as in get brighter and dimmer. How to create this effect?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a series of tubes joined end to end to produce a long tube in several sections. I need to put a glow effect on the inside face for the full length, but have a graduated effect so that one end is glowing very hot, and then have a smooth transition to warm at the other end.
I tried applying individual glow effects to each section but the stepping is obvious.
I then tried adding a glow effect with a Gradient map added to the "Additional effects" on the options tab. This didn't seem to do much and there don't appear to be any parameters to control the gradient.
What is the best way to achieve the desired effect?
I used to have an effect that creates a light bulb, light glow around its surrounding area.
It also had the option to select light color , adjust the light angles and light rays radius. ( I think the transparency too)
Since upgrading the AI CC (17.0.0), when applying an outer glow effect to objects, the effect sometimes expands its appearance involuntarily after saving and closing the file. The outcome is similar to selecting "expand appearance" from the Object menu.
When the saved file is reopened, the outer glow effect has become is its own object, grouped with the original shape. You can no longer adjust the effect in the Appearance panel.
I need to have an animated glowing object that is inside a clear raytraced glass jar. The jar blocks the glow out. I have encountered this before and I can't remember how to fix it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis has happened repeatedly for me, importing a slate with soft text from 2012 corrupts my default library. I get-
"The following bins are corrupted: Default Library Choose recover or hit the Enter key to try and recover a backup version of the bins."
Recovering fails and I'm forced to hit cancel which let's me into the project with my media gone.
I really like the glow/soft light effect on this text:
How is this done? And is there anywhere I can look online for those types of shapes/patterns/borders(?) surrounding the "SOUNDSGOOD" text? I really like that style,
I'm created a photo of an alien boy being beamed down to someone's house in a cone of bright white light from a flying saucer, and I tried to use the "layer style" to create the glowing light effect in this cone of bright light - but somehow I'm not getting the "glow" effect that I got before. I'm stumped as to what I'm doing wrong/not doing right to produce the glow effect. In other words, the outer/inner glow effect no longer works. Can anyone please help me?
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis happenes often, but not consistently.I'm using CS6 (regular) with OSX Lion, 16GB RAM.
Once I have a few files open, Photoshop starts "stealing" the cursor focus, which is to say if I go to any other application, as soon as I make one click, PS jumps into the foreground and becomes the active application. The click I made in the other app was applied, and I can see it when I go back to that app, but as soon as I click again, Photoshop pops back into focus.
The only workaround I've found is minmizing PS while I use other apps. Or closing it and restarting it. Sometimes just reducing the program window works, and sometimes not.
I have taken some netball sport photographs where the camera's automatic focus failed to lock onto the player. Rather, it locked onto the background spectators on the edge of the court. Consequently, the player is blurred. I have tried "lens blur" filter and "distortion lens correction" and even "spherise" without success.

Is it even possible to focus this using computer programs?
Any way these photos can be saved? Or any advice as to what went wrong. I operate CS3 Extended and Photoshop Elements 5.

View 2 Replies View Relatedhow to do this chore. Worse, I know it must be so simple that its laughable. I haven't ever needed to do it though.
I have an image that is great [in my eyes] but in the middle of the image an area of tree foliage shows that is so tightly focused, it distracts. How do I selectively soften, fuzz, blur [likely] or what ever only that portion. I have fought this since Sept and haven't found an answer that feels right.
