Is there a way to create a curve in the curves dialog box with points of non-differentiability (i.e. sharp corners) such as the following:
I was almost positive that there was a way to convert a point added to a curve in the Curves dialog to be a sharp corner, but I can't seem to locate it now.
when using the bevel and emboss tool in the layer style menu, to make a sharp inner corner? I was working on creating a frame using hard chisel bevel - it makes the outside of the frame have a sharp corner, but the inside is rounded. See sample image at: URL....

I believe possible in Illustrator, but cheaper and easier for me to do it in Photoshop if possible (I don't have any version of Illustrator), and I won't have to learn a new program.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am trying to stroke a path in a vector image I am making, but how you are supposed to make sharp corners while stroking with the paintbrush.
I know that if I just choose the "stroke line" option, any corners in the path will be sharp instead of rounded, but I need to stroke with the brush so that I can apply brush dynamics. Can you even do this?

why is stroking paths so dang hard.
Is it possible to warp a Smart Objects using corners and straight lines in stead of curves? I try to make a map icon in which you can easily replace the image on the map. I know how to do this warp with paths by adding anchors, but it won't work with a Smart Object (or a simple image for that matter)

If I try to do it by splitting the image and transform them like on the left image, the transition between the 'panels' isn't correct.
I've never encountered this before, but my Marquee tool is doing this now. The corners are not sharp, 90º angle corners, but are "stepped". I'm using PS 7.0. Any ideas on how to stop this?
View 4 Replies View RelatedIn CS5 is there any way to have the Curves Layer Dialog revert back to the old standard interface? When you click Image/Adjustments/Curves you get the standard interface. But when you create a curves adjustment layer you get a horrible new interface, which has been "improved" to the point of being totally useless.
I recently upgraded from CS3, mainly to get the latest ACR to work with a newer camera's RAW files. I use curve layers extensively and have spent a lot of time with CS5, but the new curves layer interface is so incredibly difficult and exasperating that I have now reinstalled CS3 and use it for all my work. I use CS5 to convert from RAW, save as PSD, then open the file in CS3 to do the work.
CS6 is consistenly locking up in the selective color and curves dialog. i.e. I come to the selective color dialog and try to choose the reds and it is stuck on whites, which I used last and I can't change it. I have to quit and relaunch. The same thing is happening with the Curves dialog. I can edit the RGB curve , but can't select the R, G or B channels until I relaunch. It works for a while and then it just stops.

I am preparing a batch of images for test submission, for a stock photo library.Recently a person working for one of the visual effects studios in London happened to tell me that these strict agencies use some set of layers that can separate tonality and color values to check for banding, dirtiness, noise and all those technical flaws that the human eye can't notice on a monitor.He said they perhaps have an action for it so that they can review faster.
He said that it is known as 'Craze Curves' or 'Visibility Curves' technique.He further added that all the studios use it before giving the final files to clients so that there is no issue in printing afterwards.It is sort of a quality control check and has been used by digital and advertising agencies all over the world.
But now his email seems to have changed and I can't get in touch with him to know how to use the technique.
I tried to use the Sharp tool but nothing happens, the brushes only leave on the photo a mark type, I read the tutorial by Adobe about it, it doesnt seem to work,.what other tutorials are there? that are simple and free.I restoring photos.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to make the edges sharp, when I use the Rectangle tool there is a 1px line on the edges which I think is suppose to blend the image to the background, but I don't want this 1px line, I want the edges to be sharp. How do I switch this off.
Using CS2, and I'm sure this is a default setting because I remember reading something about it in the book but now I can't find it.
Maybe this is something utterly simple that I have totally missed, but I just don't get it. everything I make seems to have a feathered edge... thats bad when I'm trying to make something with an absolutely crisp edge. The attached file shows whats hapening. It only really matters on the level where you can see individual rows of pixels, but that is where I prefer to work.

Pixelfonts do not seem to look any better.Is there any way to make small text look sharp in Photoshop, or should I use Illustrator e.g.? I'm just a beginner in PHotoshop and I have no clue how to solve this problem.
View 3 Replies View Relatedtried everything to get sharp thumbnail pictures for my website but to no avail this is what i do :after working in raw (no sharpening) i then put my picture on a grey background size is 1804x2560 then go to image size put in 72 for res and bicubic sharpener it then takes it down to 541x768 then save for web 32.1k jpeg medium and optimised quality 70-90 then upload to web but still not sharp, when you click on the thumbnail to get a bigger picture its sharp. i have also tried save as and put in quality 9 with no success. i had the website designed for me and you cannot load a seperate thumbnail.

Those letters look terrible and I'd like it to be straight, sharp lines.
I noticed if I use "Convert To Shape" it outlines the letters exactly the way I want them to look:
But, when I select the shape, it just selects the nasty pixels behind it, not this border.
i regulary scan documents with text but find text looks muddy when printed .blocky edges .ive played around with unsharp mask but no joy. if i input text through photoshop 7 its nice and sharp yet scanned text remains poor .played around with scanner using different resolutions and input formats ie colour doc . line art etc tried abbyy finereader but waste of time (need graphics in background)
View 4 Replies View Relatednormally i do webdesign and other 72 dpi stuff, but i had to make a logo with straight lines but at about 87deg angle. so just off square at 300dpi.
even at 300, i still couldn't get them really sharp and clean.
i tried the pen and node mode, but even that seemed to have anti aliased the angle a bit.
what do i have to do - perhaps 600 dpi and then reduce?
I have a friend still using PS 5.5, OK, OK it's me. How would I create a SHARP outline around text or anything else. I've tried outerglow, stroke and expanding the selection. The problem is, wherever the font or shape has a sharp or 90 degree angle, the outline rounds off at that point.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI know that Photoshop is not the premier pdf creation software. I do have InDesign as well, but I'm much more familiar and comfortable with Photoshop (I have the CC versions of both) so I prefer to use it as my design and layout tool.
However, when I save as a pdf the resultant pdf file is blurry for images and text, not horribly so, but not sharp and clear as I would like. My pdf files are for the web and emailing so I need to keep the file size in check, but even when I up the PS resolution to 300psi it still is not as clear as I would like. Still blurry.
What do you Photoshop experts out there do to produce the sharpest pdf possible? Is it even possible using Photoshop only or do you have to use InDesign or Acrobat Pro to get the clarity and shapness?
I am trying to create a panorama using 5 images. I did this 6 months ago using Photoshop CS5 and it produced a nice sharp image like my originals were. Using CS6 it is not sharp at all, to the point of being quite useless. If I can't figure this one out I am just going to go back to CS5.
both panorama's were created from the same 5 images, in the second one I just wanted to make it a bit warmer because the white balance in the first image doesn't accurate reflect the colours that I saw. The second one created in CS6 looks really bad. And are there any solutions besides scrapping CS6 in favour of CS5?
How do you do borders for a web page nav bar in photoshop? I use edit->stroke, but it looks funny, its too light and blurry. I just want a thin sharp white border around the tables.

My problem the text seems to be not as sharp or defined as it should be.
the background is grey the text is black.... it s a small site.
Designed everything in PS the text etc and rollovers in imageread
I took high resolution pictures of some products to put on my website. But when I reduce them in Photoshop to height 200 or 300, the text is no longer readable.
I want the same sharpness and readability as in the high res picture. I do not mind cropping it as long as I can show the text clearly.
I am using PS Elements 11 with raw converter 7.3, processing .DNG files from a Samsung GX-10 on a PC.I notice that, despite sharpening the image in the raw converter, that the preview (F11) in the organizer is not sharp.
However, even more annoying is the fact that the blurriness continues if I export the DNG from the organizer to a new JPEG, even if I set the quality at Maximum (12). The export and preview seem to be ignoring the sharpness I have set in the raw converter.If I open the .DNG in the editor and then save the file as a JPEG straight away, all my sharpening remains intact, and the final JPEG is fine.
I have tried using setting the 'process' in the raw converter to '2010', and also tried setting the JPEG preview size to 'Full Size' in the RAW converter save options. Neither of these seems to make any difference.
For my normal workflow I edit the .DNG files using the raw converter, using the PSE editor only when necessary. I then use the organizer to export the .DNG files to JPEGs for printing, emailing or whatever. This workflow does not give me the results I expect any more.
It looks like I am going to have to open every processed RAW image in the editor and then save the files as JPEGs individually. Also the organizer preview does not give me an accurate preview of the quality of the processed file.
