View 4 Replies View Related why I can't stroke a selection after rotating it? The steps to reproduce this problem are simple:
1. Make any selection (e.g. a rectangle)
2. Click "Edit", and note that "Stroke selection" is not greyed out
3. Use the "rotate" tool on the selection. Click the selection, and specify any angle.
4. After the selection has been rotated, click "Edit" again, and note that "Stroke selection" is greyed out and unusable.
I'm using Gimp 2.8.4.
I have been continually annoyed, when creating a vector mask-heavy document, with trying to select vector mask points by dragging a rectangle only to find that it instead selects a layer higher up which has a larger vector mask.
Â
The only workaround is to manually select the points of my mask or to drag a rectangle from outside the canvas, meaning I have to zoom out or scroll to the edge - sometimes annoying if I am zoomed in quite far.
Â
I know that the move tool can be set to automatically select a layer, depending on what part of the image is clicked, but why is there not an option to turn this off for vector editing?
If you look closely in the attached picture, there is a spot of light blue on the player's helmet, that looks like a mistake (think it should look like the grass behind it)...though it actually may be part of his helmet.
Â
Regardless, I'd like to take it out. My idea was to select the blue with the quick selection tool, then bring that selection out to the grass, select the grass with that size/shape of selection, copy/paste and then bring the grass selection into the blue part so it looks like grass in what was the blue part.
Â
The problem is I don't seem to be able to move the selection without taking the blue with it (so it's not an empty selection and therefore can't select a piece of the grass.)
I have Photoshop CS5 on a Mac OS 10.7.4 My problem is that when I am using curves or a slider, my selection does not stay in the same place. For example, I chose the number 8 on a slider, after I release my selection it will either go one number after or before my selected number. I have had this problem since I got my computer, December 2011, but it has only recently started to frustrated me because of having to use Photoshop a little more than I usually do.
View 2 Replies View Relatedhow to "drop out" the background from this photo (I have loads to do which are very similar). Thus far I have tried channel selections and the calculations tool + all the normal quick selection tools and I just cant get it to work without spending hours adjusting things. The end effect I need to achieve is a perfect white background without loosing any of the detail if possible. On a side note I have also tried taking the photo on blue, green, black and white backgrounds but due to the number of colours present in the products its just not working for me.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to cut a person out of a picture with a deatiled background so I am using the quickmask selection and paint brush. I'm done selecting the person and have gone back into normal editing mode. I then inversed the selection created within quickmask to select everything but the person in the background. When I click delete, the background vanishes and the person become opaque.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIf I have mad a selection with say an ellipse marque, of say 100px and now I want to fether that same selection outwards, ie to start the feather 10 px outward of the 100px selection so that the 100th px has a 100% transparency and the 110th px has a transparency of zero, thus making the new selection 110px, how could I go about doing it. With the current feathering of the selection, it feathers only in the marquee already selected, not outward, and you cannot place negative feathering px. I know that there is most likely some sort of a ration where you would expand the selection by a certain amount of px, and then apply a ratio of feathering to it to enalble it to feather outside of the 100px marquee.

I'm trying to learn how to rotate a .jpeg photo without it losing proportion. I have a photo of a Santa that I carved and took the photo with the camera turned 90°. I'd like to rotate the photo so I can use it as an Avatar on a forum I'm in. However, when I rotate the photo 90° the image becomes narrower and longer. I'd like to retain the original proportion but don't know how to do this.
Photoshop (I use CS1) is taking photos that have been saved vertically and opening them horizontally. If I rotate the photo back to vertical and save it again and then try to re-open it, it's horizontal again. Opening these same files with other image viewers and browsers shows that they are clearly vertical, yet PS continues to open them horizontally. I've been using Photoshop for years and never had this problem until the past couple of days, so I'm totally baffled. It's not like I just installed it. It's been working fine and never had this problem before yesterday. It also isn't doing it on older photos that I've saved, it's only new photos that I've saved in the past couple of days, so obviously it's doing something when I'm saving them that's causing it to rotate them automatically when re-opened.
When I try to open these exact same photos on my other comuter that has an older version of PS (7.0) this problem doesn't occur -- the photos are vertical, just as they should be.
making a signature and use a brush on the left, can i flip the brush to have same looking effect on the right!
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to flip and rotate a selection in Photoshop but it doesn't seem to be working. Here's what I'm doing:
1) Select what I want to flip/rotate.
2) Go to Select -> Transform Selection
3) Go to Edit -> Transform Path -> Flip Horizontal/Vertical or one of the rotate options.
4) Choose another tool so that it can ask me if I want to apply the transformation.
5) Say yes.
But at this point nothing happens to my selection. When rotating, I notice that the selection box itself gets transformed, but not the contents selected. How do I actually transform the contents?
im just wondering how do i rotate stuff, like is there a brush or tool which allows me turn stuff around like left right or upside down, etc etc.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'd like to rotate an image or selection just a bit to have a better ability to draw on it in Photoshop. However if I rotate it with the handles or rotate 90 degrees or whatever it changes the image and I'd like it to return in normal position after I'm finished drawing. I do not want the image to be rotated in the end, I only want to be able to draw at specific places and therefore it needs to be rotated.
View 3 Replies View Relatedhow could I rotate a layer of many in a file to align it with the other layers ? To be clear, I am an astrophotographer & what I am doing is using the "Difference" mode to align layers. But the pictures are slightly rotated & I want to be able to rotate them very little to align the stars at the corners & those that are radially outwards from the center.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I select a hatch or polyline or any object with grips for that matter, and hold down shift to select multiple grips on the object or objects and then press my middle mouse button to pan or scroll it to zoom, the grips that I have selected de-select, meaning I have to set up the view so that all the grips I want to move are visible before selecting them.
This is only happening on some drawings (although it is most of them) and only when I use 2012 not 2011. Which system variable it is that has gone screwy that I need to reset? or is it something else?

I'm wondering if it is my monitor..?
View 3 Replies View RelatedRecently I have started to get in to photography with my digital camera. I have noticed that if you rotate a jpeg 90 degrees or whatever that the file size goes down.
Is there anyway to stop this and if so, how?
downloaded the trial version of CS2. I scan a lot of images onto my computer. Naturally, the images stored in My Pictures are not entirely centered.
Is there any feature on Photoshop that would allow me to SLIGHTLY rotate an image
I was given a disc with 75 pictures on it to deal with. The images are scans of old photos, and many of them are scans of a whole page from an album. There is handwriting on many of the photos/pages that I want to keep intact.
My big problem is this: Many of the photos/album pages were scanned in a way that makes it neccesery for me to rotate/flip them into proper position. When I rotate them, the handwriting comes out backward/mirrored.
I kind of recall running into this before on an unimportant somethingorother I was working on, but since it wasn't important I left it be.
ive got a problem ive been rotating my original image around in a circle to create a cool effect, yet i want to rotate it back around with the front but how do i do that and keep the same scale. i was measuring the top rotation of of a certain part on the car and bringing it to that each time to keep it the same but now i cant since its not symmetrical
in short terms I need "Gap a" to = "Gap b"
I made a little profile image for myself to put on my site for when I redesign it. It looks fine. But the problem is, I have these 2 items of text proportioned so they look to be the sides of an invisible 3D rectangle... Problem is, I'm having trouble figuring out a way to make this 3d rectangle rotate so it will show one side (first text item) and then rotate to the next side (smaller item of text)...
The other 2 sides arent visible in this image, but they are the same as the 2 shown as to be a repeating animation. how I can achieve this either with Photoshop/ImageReady or 3D CG program?
My 3D CG program is Eovia Carrara Studio 3.
how do you rotate text without distortion - cs3 photoshop?
am using layers, one layer is a text layer, i want to rotate that, say 8º but without distortion in the letters.
I'm using a template for a cd sleeve. One half of it is upside down so to work on the other half I have to rotate the image. I will have to rotate the image a hundred times before the project is finished.
Does this affect the quality? If so, any workarounds for me?
When using the brush tool as a square, I frequently need to rotate it so that it can be much more effective in architectural shots, under peaked roofs, gables etc. It would also be great if the shape could be altered from a square to some other parallelogram to again, fit nicely inside similar shapes. Is there a way to at least, rotate the brush in CS3 and 4? While I am at it, how in blazes does one copy, cut and delete items in this forum? I highlight, right click and get insert asnd align selections. Also, I pick a type face and get Arial when I type.
