Photoshop :: Reset Button For ACR Adjustment Brush
Aug 2, 2013
I use ACR and the adjustment brush on a daily basis. When making several corrections with the adjustment brush, each time I have to manually zero out the adjustments from the previous correction. If there were a reset button at the top to zero out all the adjustments it would greatly simplify this process.

When I apply an adjustment brush to the photo, close the brush and then reopen, in the past I've been able to see the round grey button to reactivate the "old" brush I applied. Now I can't see one.

After making a second adjustment, "reset to adjustment defaults" button reset to previous adjustments made by the user, not to default values...And, secondly, only preview is resetting, sliders do not reset to previous adjustment made by the user ...

Whenever I create a new adjustment layer and make a correction, if I try to undo (using either cmnd z or menu) the actual correction is undone, but the slider does not reset. If it is a curve adj layer andi I set a point, undoing the move again results in the correction being undone, but the point on the curve remains.

Some Photoshop tools allow you to change the cancel button into a reset button by holding down the Alt key. The purpose of this button is to reset the tool to its default values.
For 1 or 2 months I noticed that I needed to double-click on the reset button for it to work. Normally you only need a single click.
I got really got fed up with it today, so I did some research. I couldn't find any answers on the internet (including newsgroups), so I decided to close all programs that were running in the background. That solved it. I restarted the computer and started to close one program at a time to see if the problem would go away.
It was already 'bingo' after I cancelled the first suspicious program.
It has to do with the "1-Click Answers" add-on from www.answers.com.
Richt click the program in the system bar, select options/activations and change the default value "Alt + left click" to something else that doesn't conflict or just remove the whole add-on like I did.
I thought it would be useful to know in case your reset button is acting weird and you can't find any answers anywhere.

I'm using the Filmconvert plugin and the reset buttons do not work. I have the latest version of CC and Filmconvert plugin.
Filmconvert support said that "The functionality of the reset buttons is provided by the application API... plugin developers do not code that functionality and have no visibility or control over it... which is why it must be a Premiere problem. Have you asked Adobe tech support for assistance?".
I've tried reinstalling Filmconvert plugin and also resetting preferences.
Is it a bug?How do I contact Adobe for support? They don't reply to bug reports.

I have photoshop CS6. The eraser and brush tool is not working properly. I get a small dot on the page irrespective of the size of the eraser or brush that I select. Also I'm not sure if this is a feature of CS6. I've produced a graphic that involves a large number of layers, on past versions of photoshop if I needed to edit a layer I would select that layer and go to it on the page and edit it. On CS6 after I select the layer when I put my cursor anywhere on the page it would automatically select the layer that I am touching, which is similar to Coreldraw or Illustrator.

I have been following a tutorial in modelling a helmet, which is meant for beginners to learn the software well.
I know that I have already ask this, but I want to rephrase this better.
I can't find the "reset setting" button from edit on My maya 2014 software.
The reason the tutorial is using the "rest setting" is to adjust the width, height and depth of the cube I have out there by using numbers as its measurement.
I don't know if there are any other buttons that can do the same job, or is there another way to find this button... I can't progress my learning until I know what to do about this.

When I try and use a round brush with 100% hardness, there is still significant dropoff in density from the center to the outside of the brush. Both the brush and layer are on "normal" mode. I've reset the brush tools. I've deleted the preference files for PSE10. What other settings should I be checking? I know that "brush flow" doesn't show up as a menu item in PSE10, but you can change it with keystrokes. I've messed with that and you can see the darkness of the brush change in the dropdown - I've set that to the "00" setting [shift-apple, ##], which I believe puts it to 100.

Using Windows 7 In PS CS6 tried 32 bit and 64 bit for the Adjustment Brush. What happens in Camera Raw if I click on the Adjustment Brush and use either the New or Add option I would get either a cross or a double cross and if I hold down the mouse button a very light white would appear on the area I move the mouse over. The Erase option works fine where the dash circle appears and am able to erase.
On my laptop all 3 functions of the Adjustment Brush work fine.

In Using the adjustment brush with exposure mode active I get a light red/pink color over the area the brush is used, this is not the mask that shows up when the curser is put over the pin. I also can not not make real time adjustment but when I click the adjustment brush to turn it off I can see the changes I tried to make.

I have PS CS6 with the latest updates, using a Mac computer with OS 10.7 also with the latest updates. When in ACR, the adjustment brush does not appear on the screen unless I click the bracket keys which increase or decrease the size of the brush.
If I paint a segment and the let go of the brush key, the brush disappears again. I have to keep repeating this if I am painting multiple parts of the photo. I have thrown away and reset the preferences for both Photoshop and Bridge, as well as repairing disk permissions on my Mac.

I've moved from using destructive adjustments to the nondestructive adjustment layers, but I can't seem to get a handle on how to use the history brush?
I've tried taking a snapshop of the current state with adjustments. then click back to the original snapshot as the source, hoping the history brush would work, but it doesn't. is there a way to use the history brush with adjustment layers?
I've see one demo that doesn't exactly use the history brush, the paint black on the adjustment layer to expose whats beneath it.Is this how you need to work with adjustment layers?

It's never been a problem before, but the anchor point for the Adjustment Brush in ACR is sitting exactly where I need to see what is happening. I can delete and start again, but if there is way to move or hide the anchor point while still being able to adjust the setting, it would be handy to know for next time it happens.

this worked until yesterday. I didn't install any software on the pc or change any settings that I can think of. I'm using photoshop cs2. I've rebooted the computer several times and I've quit/restarted photoshop several times.
when I create an adjustment layer, I cannot paint black in the mask area. I can fill with black and paint white. if, after filling black and painting white, I press D (to swap foreground/background colors), I can paint, a paintbrush thing shows up in the history, but it won't change. if I press D again, and paint some more white, it shows up in white. likewise, if I choose black another way (eyedropper, setting rgb to 0,0,0), it behaves the same. likewise, if I don't start out by filling black, and I just try to paint black on the white mask, it behaves the same (doesn't work).
if I create a new layer, I can paint black on it. If I switch to the pencil tool rather than the brush tool, I can pencil black into my adjustment layer masks.
any suggestions?
or what info can I get for you so you have a good place to start?

I have some TIFF files I need to do some adjustments on. Mostly darkening the sky. Where the sky meets the foreground it is made up of tops of Spruce Trees.
My question is, can/should I use the adjustment brush in Lightroom to do this, or should I make a layer in Photoshop to do this?
I have found that when using the adjustment brush over the tops of Spruce trees, it is best to just paint over the whole thing, or else it will look artificial. Not sure if doing this in Photoshop would make my life easier?

When I try to use the adjustment brush by selecting the brush, the sliders shown for the brush change the complete photograph, which I do not want it to do. When I use the brush it makes changes. But, if I make a slider change that I want for the brush it actually changes the complete photograph. It has worked properly in the past. I was able to make a slider change and it would only make changes to the area the brush selected.

In Develop, when preparing to use the Adjustment Brush, first I adjust the size of the brush. I slide my cursor along the Size slider and the displayed adjacent "sample brush" varies in size. Next, I move the cursor into the field of the image. When the cursor crosses over into the image field, the circle indicating brush size changes; it gets larger by roughly 25%. I have been using the adjustment brush now for what seems like 2 or 3 years, but I can't recall it changing size before. Is this normal? 2 screenshots: a) the cursor(sadly not reproduced in the screenshots) hovers at the slider; b) The cursor is moved to the image field, and the Adjustment brush circle has increased in size.
