View 1 RepliesScanning old slides often shows large scratches and specks. How can they be removed?I use Photoshop CS6, does it contain tools for that?Or are there plugins?
What I'm looking for is a Scratch Removal tool like I find in Silverfast 8SE (have one bundled with my Canoscan 9000F scanner) called SDR (I don't mean the iSDR which used the sanner's ínfrared). It automaticllay searches out scratches, marks them in red, lets you adjust how strongly it hunts for them, sizes etc. Then when you like it, click to remove them.
Two problems: it only works in conjunction with scanning, can't open an existing file. And it only handles 8bit color depth.I suppose full versions of Silverfast won't have these limitations, but that would mean quite an expense.Since I have invested in Ps CS6 I'd want to keep to that.
Having just updated ACR to ver 6.7 (6.7.0.339) I am surprised to find that the colored fringe removal tool in the Lens Correction palette has disappeared. All that there is now is Transform, Lens Vignetting and the relatively useless Defringe.
I thought updates were supposed to provide enhancements, not remove things. What else has been taken away?
I use this tool a lot and would like to get it back. If it has been replaced with something supposedly better, then what and where is it? Have I missed something?
I saw the tutorial regarding pet eye removal. That tool does not show up when I go to the red eye removal tool.

View 3 Replies View RelatedSometimes for fairly complicated photo retouching but mostly for more routine things like red eye removal, cropping etc. I downloaded a new version of Gimp a few months ago when I replaced my computer. I am now having trouble with the red eye removal tool. Everything works fine except that the lines around the pupil that I selected using the free selection tool remain and scroll around the pupil after I am done.
How do I turn off the free selection tool so that the selection lines will go away. I'm following every step in the tutorial but somehow there must be another step to deactivate to selection lines. Is there an extra click somewhere or something?
i've been digging around trying to find a plugin for 'spot removal', but haven't had any luck. am i missing it? i've found only one post in a all the forums that even mentions the word "spot".
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have tried numerous times to get my spot removal tool to work; without success. I have read tons about it and nothing works. What is going on?? Neither clone nor heal does anything!
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe spot removal tool on my lightroom 4 is, all of the sudden, not working. The tool opens as it always has and everything looks normal, but it won't heal or clone. It used to work fine, but as of just recent;y it doesn't. I've closed lightroom and have restarted my computer many times and still nothing. The rest of lightrrom works as it always has.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThe new free-form spot removal tool in Clone mode doesn't appear to work properly for me.I can draw a free-form shape, and once I close the shape its contents are replaced with the contents of another area as it should.
But the line around the shape (which for me is always at least 4 pixels wide, even if I set the tool size to 1 pixel, the pixel width returns to 4 pixels. It is always a white line for me) after the cloning remains visible in a strange way, as if the line had also been cloned from somewhere else, but doesn't match the current background properly.
If I draw a free-form straight line, its contents get cloned and that works well. But when I try to draw a free-form line around a shape, the line always is 4 pixels wide and in addition to the enclosed content being cloned, also the line content gets cloned, and hence the line I had drawn to enclose the area to be cloned remains visible, as the cloning never seems to work as properly as it does when I just draw a line (straight or bent) which does not enclose something.
There is a noticeable sloweness.Just how does LR use RAM, I have 16G and plenty of processing power.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have just swapped from PC to Mac and in the process upgraded from LR 3 to LR 4. I have always had some minor issues with the spot removal tool occassionally jamming up or not working smoothly and taking a long time in LR3 on PC, but so far using the tool in LR 4 on Mac has been painful. It is like it is slow to load, and then the cursor/spot removal circle just dissapears or freezes? I want to be able to fix minor blemishes etc quickly in LR instead of having to go to PS
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was shooting some timelapses recently and created thousands of images. I needed to "heal" one dust particle from all of those which I did by using "spot removal" tool but unfortunately it doesn't work well on all images. Now I am stuck with a problem where I have over 7K pics which has that tool applied but I can't remove it from the whole batch in one go.
I've tried syncing with an image that has no "spot removal" tool applied but it didn't work. I coppied settings and pasted them but it only works for one image. I had them all selected and just hit restart on a tool but again it only does that for currently visible pic. I really don't know how to deal with this and I don't want to do it manually with all of them. It's worth mentioning that I could reset all of the settings but I already applied many adjustements to many images so only spot tool is what I want to get rid off.
I am using a Lightroom 5.2
When using the LR5 spot removal tool I can perform cloning or healing and LR automatically selects the target used to clone from, but I cannot see where this area is on the image. A pin should appear with a line connecting the area to be removed and the target area used to clone from. I see no pin. Is this controled by a setting?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWell, so far I"m zero for four in trying to get LR to let me do trivial things the way I'd like, but let's give it yet another try........
I ALREADY KNOW you can use the "[" and "]" to change the size of the spot removal circle. BUT, I'm trying to get LR to work as much like Photoshop as possible 'cause the inconsistencies on small things is a surprisingly large hit to productivity.....
In PS I can change the size of the clone or heal using Alt and the mouse. Change both size AND opacity.
Is this buried somewhere in LR? If not, is there a way for me to define this command in the translatedstrings file?
I upgraded to Lightroom 4.1 a few months ago and since then have been battling with incredibly slow spot removal tool, slow changes between tools and modules, and a big time lag in using the slider adjustments. I use Lightroom for Portrait photography work and it is incredibly frustrating. I feel like my workflow is half the speed it used to be because of all the wait time. Once I select an area for the spot removal, for example, I can wait about 2-4 seconds for it to work. I find that this lag is shorted when I first open Lightroom and begin using it, but the lag time quickly increases as the hours literally drag by. Are other people having these issues after upgrading to Lightroom 4?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed Photoshop CS6 Beta and I just removed it using the uninstaller under Applications/Utility/Adobe Installers/Adobe Photoshop uninstaller alias. I had to find it myself as the information on the Web is wrong. Obviously I am on a Mac (Lion 10.7.4), but now that it has been removed, I still have an Adobe Photoshop 6 Beta folder in Applications that was not removed. Do I just delete the folder or do I need to do something else?
I did find the Adobe Creative Cleaner Tool but I also have Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 installed. Can I use the uninstaller tool and not damage the Elements installation? I just want to be sure before I jump. I do have a full, bootable backup of my installation just in case something goes wrong.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI thought USM to basically sharpen for the effect of removing atmospheric haze. I liked the technique so I built an action and used it. A while back I lost a hard drive and of course, my actions with it. So now I can't find where I got the info to start.
My memory says that it is USM at 20,50,0 but I'd like to find something like the article I based my action on.
Klattu said in a thread here on haze removal, 250,250,0. Why those numbers. I need to read what got me to this in the first place.
Is there a way either in the scanning process or with photoshop to remove the moire effect?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a photo open on CS4, that I want to remove the sky and replace it with another. Since the photo has lots of "gridwork" in it (it's the Eiffel Tower in Vegas) I used Mask pro to remove the blue sky. When I save it back to CS4, is there a way to easily select the blank background so that I can insert the new sky? I can make a Quick Selection of the majority of the sky but again, it's the sky, or in this case now, the blank background peeking through all the grid work that is the problem getting selected.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a sample pic(which is not mine, but can use)
I want to take all the white particles out of the pic to clean it up, in the past I have been useing clone stamp and patch tool to keep the texture relatively the same.I have tried painting after choosing with the color picker and then palying with opacity, this gets rid of some of the smaller white spots and then I go with the clone tool and patch tool. I find this does not give a very natural look, so I was wondering if there was another way to go about taking these spots out as it is a painstaking proccess which can take anywhere up to 8 hours on a pic with my 1Ds MKIII.
I took a photograph of my daughter lying on a white sheet against a black background, however there were a noticable fragments of dust in the background which has spoiled the photograph.
I would really appreciate it if someone could remove the dust for me, there isn't that much and it will only take a couple of minutes for an experienced Photoshop user.
I need to get this sent asap to a printers so they can print it onto canvas for me, for my daughters great grandmothers 90th birthday.
