Photoshop :: Printing Pure CMYK Colours?

Jul 1, 2013

I'm adapting a printer to print various conductive inks and such, however I need to ensure it only prints one 'colour' at a time. Is there a program that lets me print *just* from the magenta cartridge or *just* from the cyan, with zero mixing? I need a program that lets me do this and ideally I can input those values correctly.

Photoshop :: Saving Pure White Background In CMYK Mode

Jun 13, 2013

This has started to happen to me recently, working across indesign and Photoshop, for some cutouts it is easier to have a "pure white" background (0%c, 0%m, 0%y, 0%k) rather than transparency, it keeps down file sizes and speeds up workflow etc - plus sometimes press images just come like that.

recently I have noticed that some images, despite being saved as a "pure white" background, are coming out with 1%c, 1%m, 1%y, 0%k backgrounds once I re-open them. Doesn't matter if I save, Save as, copy the image, duplicate it, I keep getting the 1% color back in. This is occasionally causing problems with printers.

Illustrator :: Using Spot Colours In CMYK Artwork Linked From Photoshop

Jul 1, 2013

I need to use a spot black on some packaging. The spot black will be used as a vignette on top of a photograph of the product which is done in Photoshop. I have created the packaging in Illustrator and need to import this file but it needs to have the spot colour intact. So far I have created a PSD with a Spot channel which I thought was the answer but Illustrator can't read PSDs with spot channels. I then saved it as an eps but when I import an eps it only shows a white rectangle as opposed to the actual artwork.

Illustrator Scripting :: Round Fractional CMYK Colours?

Oct 8, 2012

I work in a large printing company and we get artwork from all over that has dodgy CMYK colours (quick convertions from RGB obviously). We have noticed that these colours don't rip as well as rounded CMYK colours, so we spend a lot of time cleaning them up and rounding them down...

I'd like to be able to just run a script that does this to a whole document, including the colours inside gradients. So if for example the number is .5 or below we round down, or above we round up.

Paint Shop Pro :: CMYK JPEGs Display With Wrong Colours?

Jul 20, 2011

I use PSP X3 for web image editing and am sometimes sent jpeg files which are in CMYK format. Unfortunately PSP does not display the colours in these files correctly. Yellow will display as brown, pale blue as turquoise and pink as purple for example.

If I open the same file in almost any other programme, including the humble "Paint", the colours display fine and my workaround up until now has been to open in another programme, copy the picture to the clip board and then paste it into PSP as a new image. The colours are then fine but it greatly increases my work time, especially when I have many images to process.

Surely there must be a way to get these images to display correctly. It has nothing to do with monitor or gamma adjustment otherwise they would display incorrectly in all other programmes also.

Maybe it is a bug or just something that Corel have overlooked. RGB jpegs display fine, the problem only occurs with CMYK images.

Photoshop :: Printing Colours!

Apr 14, 2004

When I print from Photoshop, I am getting this message before the printing commences:

"Some PostScript specific settings (emmulsion, Interpolation, Calibration, Encoding) will be ignored since you are printing to a non-PostScript printer"

Then when I print, the colours are all different than what is on the screen. I have not had this problem previously and everything I have printed looks great. This has only begun recently and I am not sure what has happened to make it like that. My printer is a hp deskjet 930C.

CorelDRAW X5 :: Adding Or Editing Colours In Default Or CMYK Custom Palettes?

Aug 23, 2010

I'm using Corel Draw X5 and I can't figure out how to add or edit colours in the CMYK (default) Custom Colour Palette.  In X3 and earlier versions it was quite easy to add new colours and edit existing ones.  I would also like to know how to move the order of the colours in the palette so that I can put one a custom colour near the top.

FYI I would like make these changes to the master / global CMYK palette, not just the one for a specific document palette.

When I import some PDF-files to XDPX (8) (Windows XP SP 3) it shows with CMYK colours. That means that I can't use the material as all colours are "wrong".

Is there a way of importing PDF-files so that they show with RGB colours?

Could that be an option in forthcoming versions; that you can select to import either as CMYK or RGB?

Photoshop :: Printing In RGB Vs CMYK

Dec 17, 2012

There is a photo that I've downloaded from the internet that I'm printing and using for a class project. It was supposed to be Black & White, but when I first printed it, it looked sepia.

My teacher suggested I add a Black and White adjustment layer, but since the photo was originally in Gray scale, I needed to make it RGB to do that. Once I did, the Black & White adjustment layer made the photo Black & White.

Since I want to ultimately use the photo printed, I was thinking it would make sense to make it CMYK. When I try to make that change, Photoshop says it will discard the Black & White adjustment layer. Does that mean it will go back to looking like sepia when I print it? Does it even make a difference if I change the mode to CMYK for printing?

Also, is it better to wait and add the Black and White adjustment layer only after I've made all other adjustments as the last step before printing. Or better to do it right away so I know what I'm working with when it's Black & White?

Finally, is it best to wait and add type only once all the adjustments have been made to the photo? Does type lose any resolution when it gets merged into other layers?

Illustrator :: Printing Spot Colours?

Jul 18, 2013

When I want to send file separation containing only spot colours, sometimes it comes with empty CMYK separations printed.

Lets say an artwork may be only one colour, so when printed the outcome should be just that colour, but instead I end up with 5 separations printed - the one I wanted to print plus cmyk bits all blank (empty pages with only registration pieces imprinted).

Neither on artwork nor separation preview there's no process colours whatsoever, so do any of You know what may cause this?

I'm using the same print template and it happens form time to time. (not a problem for me but my colleagues complain about it all the time).

Photoshop :: Printing Magazine, CMYK Issues

Feb 13, 2008

I've been using Photoshop

This is my problem:
I'm trying to publish a magazine for my community, and I'm using Photoshop CS3 to design the magazine. From what I know about printers and printing presses, they print using CMYK - therefore when I create my documents I've been using the CMYK 8 bit Color Mode. My resolution is set at the 300 pixels/inch, but I'm not sure what my Color Profie/Pixel Aspect Ratio should be.

I've also been told that most printing companies prefer PDF documents, and I don't know the right options to choose when saving my PSD's as PDF's through Photoshop.

I noticed my first problem when printing a sample at Kinko's. I had mostly black and white on my image, but I had a light yellow to dark yellow gradient as a background, and when it printed, banding appeared towards the lower part of the page where it should have been dark yellow. Basically that gradient wasn't smooth. I also noticed this on my computer when using a CMYK Color Mode, but it was less subtle (when I use RGB, the gradients are perfectly smooth from light to dark).

The sample I took to Kinko's was a:
Flattened image,
Then saved as a Photoshop PDF
As a Copy
ICC Profile: U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2

I just need to know the right options to start my image, and the right options to save my image as a PDF to ensure the best print quality with no sacrifce to color, gradients, etc.

CorelDRAW X5 :: Printing With CMYK (Win 7 / 32)

Since yesterday all of a sudden my OKI color printer shows white areas in a sandy color, when I use CMYK as color modes. Other colors are shown in false colors, too. This effect is also shown in print preview, what means for me, it´s not a printer issue.

Refilling areas with colors in RGB works, but I don´t want to live with this workaround. Nearly all my Corel graphics are made using CMYK.

CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X6 :: Color Management Printing RGB / CMYK And Separations

Nov 11, 2012

This discussion is on using RGB file creation techniques to output to ink jet devices. I posted the comments below the link because color management off always pops up in the conversation as it turns to non-postscript devices so I wanted to circumvent the side bar conversation.

[URL]....

First let's get this straight, I've written it and said it about a thousand times, you cannot turn off color management.

When you select simulate color management off in the default application color management dialog, CorelDRAW simply utilizes a different set of color management settings. The rules of color management never change!  The application requires guidelines on color and still must have rules that govern conversions, PERIOD.

These rules are not different, only the engines, rendering intents and profiles change. These setting in X5 and X6 can be, in some cases adjusted to simulate previous setting in versions prior to X5 that were labeled color management off, but this label in older versions (X4 and older) were deceptive in their nature, color management was never turned off, just set to a specific configuration.

Simulate color management off (in X5/X6) uses wide gamut cmyk simulation as the CMYK profile, it disengages the color engines (setting CorelDRAW to another internally controlled process) and sets the interface to RGB. It does not turn color management off.

These settings have many uses for industries such as laser engraving and screen printing separations and I support their continued use. Do not confuse this and use these settings for professional output using press work, ink jets or digital printers.
