CorelDRAW X4 :: JPEG Convert (RGB Or CMYK) Colours Appear Much Darker
May 8, 2011
When I publish from X4 to jpeg, the (RGB or CMYK) colours appear much darker than they ought to. Is there a solution to this or could it be false settings, If yes, what settings.

when I pdf a coreldraw document, no matter which pdf-preset I use, the "Convert spot colours to: CMYK" is greyed out so I can't tick it. I need to pdf a document to send to newspaper print. I have never had a problem like this before using CorelDraw X3.

I'm using Corel Draw X5 and I can't figure out how to add or edit colours in the CMYK (default) Custom Colour Palette. In X3 and earlier versions it was quite easy to add new colours and edit existing ones. I would also like to know how to move the order of the colours in the palette so that I can put one a custom colour near the top.
FYI I would like make these changes to the master / global CMYK palette, not just the one for a specific document palette.

We recently upgraded to X5 and are having trouble with the Previews for JPEG. When I try to preview a jpeg under the standard cmyk setting it comes up as a black box. If I change it to RGB then I can see it. It didn't happen at first but once I downloaded the update it started.

I have downloaded a Free vector (.cdr) file which was designed using RGB color. This files has 100's of objects that are in color with RGB..
Is there a way to convert the RGB color's to cmyk without having to do each one by hand?
Maybe some kind of "Macro?
I need to do this because I am going to have this design printed on a T-Shirt and the printer uses "CMYK 4-Color Process" for their printing.

I have a client that gave me some artwork created in CMYK with plenty of half tones. Unfortunately, it breaks down into 1558 colors. We need to convert it to Pantone for screen printing. The whole thing can be reduced to 6 colors without changing the look. Is there a process that will automatically convert the CMYK colors to close matching Pantone colors without going through each individual color and halftone, which would take forever..

I have recently traced a new picture and I am about to add colors to it so that I can upload it later on my gallery. I started the Tracing on a Cmyk based template because one day I will use print it to add it to my portfolio! I mean should I add Cmyk colors and them convert them to rgb in order to upload it?

I have noticed a common trend among my .JPEG saves from Photoshop, they all seem to appear darker than when they were originally viewed and edited accordingly in Photoshop.
I don't know much about Color profiles and such, I have gone through the settings briefly, but do not want to mess anything up!

I'm adapting a printer to print various conductive inks and such, however I need to ensure it only prints one 'colour' at a time. Is there a program that lets me print *just* from the magenta cartridge or *just* from the cyan, with zero mixing? I need a program that lets me do this and ideally I can input those values correctly.

I work in a large printing company and we get artwork from all over that has dodgy CMYK colours (quick convertions from RGB obviously). We have noticed that these colours don't rip as well as rounded CMYK colours, so we spend a lot of time cleaning them up and rounding them down...
I'd like to be able to just run a script that does this to a whole document, including the colours inside gradients. So if for example the number is .5 or below we round down, or above we round up.

I use PSP X3 for web image editing and am sometimes sent jpeg files which are in CMYK format. Unfortunately PSP does not display the colours in these files correctly. Yellow will display as brown, pale blue as turquoise and pink as purple for example.
If I open the same file in almost any other programme, including the humble "Paint", the colours display fine and my workaround up until now has been to open in another programme, copy the picture to the clip board and then paste it into PSP as a new image. The colours are then fine but it greatly increases my work time, especially when I have many images to process.
Surely there must be a way to get these images to display correctly. It has nothing to do with monitor or gamma adjustment otherwise they would display incorrectly in all other programmes also.
Maybe it is a bug or just something that Corel have overlooked. RGB jpegs display fine, the problem only occurs with CMYK images.

I need to use a spot black on some packaging. The spot black will be used as a vignette on top of a photograph of the product which is done in Photoshop. I have created the packaging in Illustrator and need to import this file but it needs to have the spot colour intact. So far I have created a PSD with a Spot channel which I thought was the answer but Illustrator can't read PSDs with spot channels. I then saved it as an eps but when I import an eps it only shows a white rectangle as opposed to the actual artwork.

When I import some PDF-files to XDPX (8) (Windows XP SP 3) it shows with CMYK colours. That means that I can't use the material as all colours are "wrong".
Is there a way of importing PDF-files so that they show with RGB colours?
Could that be an option in forthcoming versions; that you can select to import either as CMYK or RGB?

importing photos into Xara 7 - the photos have a "green" sheen to them - I've only noticed as I've been using xara to print out some photos for a friend who's printer died. he uses powerpoint to print his and the difference between the two is really marked! i'm assuming it's due to CMYK/RGB differences (ppt is RGB) but I can't for the life me see where I can alter the Xara settings so the photos come in as per ppt.

I'm using -color-matrix on a bunch of images to change colour temperature slightly:
convert -quality 94 -color-matrix "1.0 0 0 0 0.975 0 0 0 0.95" x.jpg y.jpg
Problem is, in sky areas, this causes patchy colours and banding issues. However, and this is the strange part, if I convert to TIFF (even using JPEG compression), and then apply the colour matrix, I don't get these issues.
BUT, even wierder, if I then try to convert the fine-looking TIFF image to JPEG again (even with -quality 100), I get these patchy colours again.
This is with GIMP 2.6.12 on a Fedora Linux system.

My problem is when I design something on CorelDraw X6, the CMYK colors look good but when I print the project at Walmart, the colors are richer/darker looking and or some of the colors are off. The Walmart I send my files to uses an Epson 7890 printer and Kodak Color Edge EKTA photo paper.
I've calibrated my monitor so I don't believe that is the issue. The color profile it's set to now is sRGB and the preset is North American General Purpose. I've also called Epson and they told me to call Kodak which I did and the Kodak person told me to contact the Corel People. I figured I'd tap into the CorelDraw Forum collective wisdom first before trying support.

I'm moving art over to a new document. It was created in CMYK. The new document has a color mode of Basic RGB. After pasting the art I select it all, and choose Edit | Edit Colors | Convert to RGB. After saving and re-opening the document, the art once again has CMYK attributes, not RGB. What am I doing wrong?

When I save a PDF file in Photoshop CC in CMYK color with JPEG compression (quality = high), it will save without any errors. However, when I open the file in Acrobat, I get an "Out of Memory" pop up error. I press Ok, and the document is just displayed as a blank white image.
I'm using Win7 64-bit, Photoshop CC 64-bit. Plenty of memory (24GB) and allocated RAM in preferences, and I've done some troubleshooting that leads me to believe the error is not due to system memory, but rather a specific bug in the software. I have Photoshop CS6 on the same machine, and if I open the PSD, save as PDF with the above settings, everything is fine when I open it using Acrobat. This seems to just be for Photoshop CC, not CS6.
Here is the troubleshooting I've done so far:
PDF format, RGB color, any other settings --> Acrobat can open the file.
PDF format, CMYK, no compression --> Acrobat can open the file.
PDF format, CMYK, JPEG compression [medium] --> Acrobat can open the file.
PDF format, CMYK, JPEG compression [high] --> Acrobat can NOT open the file because it encounters the "out of memory" error.
PDF format, CMYK, JPEG compression [maximum] --> Acrobat can open the file.

I am using InDesign for a class presentation. I was told I should convert any Photoshop images that I use from RGB to CMYK for printing, but I am just printing it at home on my little desk-jet.
Second question: If it IS necessary, why do I get a alert in Photoshop saying "You are about to convert to CMYK using 'U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2' profile.

I have and image in CMYK which client used to print packagings.
During the printing process in printing house replaced the black channel with Pantone 280. So fall all is fine.
But now the client want to have other layout with those packagings in their real colors (the way they are printed - back replaced with Pantone), and can provide only images with black color.
So far i tried to:
1. Convert CMYK to Multichannel
2. Replace Black with Pantone 280
3. Convert Multichannelto CMYK .
Last one was not successful, because Pantone channel was replaced with black and the areas which were blue become black again.
I also tried to save the Multichannel image as EPS and to print it trough indesing with option to convert or not to convert colors. Again blue areas become black.(OS Windows 7, CS5.5)
