Photoshop :: Photoshop Histogram Automation

Mar 9, 2004

Is there any way to automate Photoshop CS to bring a group of photos up to a base level? I understand the batch command fine.

For instance, I have a photo that has a great hightone, great midtone, but the lowtone (on the histogram display) starts about a cm in from the far right hand side of the window.

Is there any way to automate photoshop CS to bring this lowtone up to the start of the Histogram curve on every photo regardless of where the photo histogram curve is away from the right hand side of the chart window?

Photoshop :: Batch Automation!

Sep 2, 2008

I'm am using Adobe Photoshop CS 2 on a 2.33 gHz Intel Core 2 Duo Mac Book Pro, running OSX 10.4.11.

So here's my situation. I'm editing a music video. I'm editing with Final Cut Pro, but I want to use filters from Photoshop. So I export every frames of my video in JPEG format and I add effects to each frame using Photoshop. I created an action to apply the CUTOUT filter on all my frames using batch automation. But here is my problem : everytime I start the process, the JPEG Options dialog opens up. I need to click "OK" on each frame for it to save to JPEG ! It seems the "Ok" to that dialog cannot be recorded by Photoshop's actions... Am I doing something wrong ? Is there a way I could automate this dialog so that I don't have to click "OK" for every single one of the 7000 frames I'm working on?

thin line on the right edge.

Is that clipping?

I mean it very clear when I see the mountain slamming up to the right, but many times I see a normal mountain rise and fall, and then seem to see this razor thin blue green or red line on the right edge.

Photoshop :: Removing Prompts During Automation

Apr 21, 2006

I have an action that opens a file (raw) and simply saves it to jpg. For some reason, it keeps prompting me to hit "ok" like it does whenever you save a raw file without automation. Any idea how I can get rid of that? I'd like an action that simply takes every file in a directory and saves it with no processing to a jpg.

Photoshop :: JPG To PNG [Batch/Automation] Process?

Aug 5, 2008

completely remove the white background. Because this will be a batch process that includes others lighter hats, I can only use a maximum of 10 as a tolerance. When placed on a black background, it reflects some white fringe.

I'm starting with the Magic Eraser (10 tolerance), then doing Layer/Matting/Defringe, and no matter what tolerance I apply there (up to 20), some white pixels remain around the edge. Very frustrating to find a happy medium process in order to batch various colors to an acceptable quality.

Photoshop :: Crop And Straighten Automation

Feb 14, 2006

I am running Photoshop CS. I have many hundred documents to scan and was going to use the pre loaded "Crop and Straighten" tool under file/automate. My problem is I want to run this over a folder that will save and close, not just one image at a time.

I also want it to do an automatic save using the current file name without adding the word "copy" to it, and not have to type over the file name each time when the save option comes up with "Filename copy.tiff".

I know the Crop and straighten tool is great for putting several images on a scanner and it separating them into individual images, but this is not what I am doing, I have one scan, one document.

So is it possible to run this over a folder of 500+ documents and walk away from it, have all images save and close using the current name, and not fill the desktop up with many opened images that need to be manually closed?

Photoshop :: Batch Automation, Can It Create...

Apr 23, 2008

using CS2...I know how to create actions and use the Batch Automation thing but not sure how or if this is possible...

I have a ton of folders in one folder. inside each folder are a bunch of TIF files. I want to create an action to run as a batch to open that TIF, convert it to JPG then save in a separate folder with the same name in another folder. Basically im duplicating what I have in one folder to another folder with one being the original TIFs and the new set being JPG, all in folders of the same names.

Basically I know how to do all of this except when I set up the batch, it seems to only allow the new JPGs to be saved in a single folder. It can pull all the TIFs using the "include subfolders" in the source section but only places the new/revised file into a single folder.

What I'd like to do be able to do is select an action which runs say three or four of those actions - say export at 600, 800, 1200 pixels dimension and also suffixes the file name with that number.. so IMG0001.JPG becomes IMG001_800.JPG, IMG001_1200.JPG etc etc.

Photoshop :: Histogram / Pixel Amount In CS4

Mar 22, 2012

I am using the histogram function in PS CS4 for Windows. I am using the magic wand tool to choose numerous "green" elements (for example). As I choose more and more elements, the pixel amount goes up in the histogram table. For some weird reason, when I choose enough elements to hit around 50000 pixels, the amount reverts to 12000 and goes to "cache level 2". I need to be able to have a total of all my elements for the project I'm working on. Is this a memory issue? How can I increase the cache?

Photoshop :: Histogram Pixel Area

Jun 15, 2011

For a research project, I am calculating the area of the cytosol of a cell by finding the total cell area and subtracting the total nuclear area. I have been using the lasso tool to select the boundaries and then the histogram to measure the total pixels in that selection area. Proportionately, the nuclear pixel area should always be smaller than the total cell area since the nucleus is inside that cell. Most of my measurements have been accurate, but I started to run into the problem in which occasionally the nuclear pixel area is larger the total cell area. This does not make sense, which means that Pixel # that the histogram records must not actually be counting every pixel. I have tried to do some reading online and it sounds like the histogram is made based on different color intensities. If that were the case, that histogram pixel count is not the total area of the selection but rather only the pixel count that is being used to calculate the histogram.

I have tried changing the Channels from grayscale to RGB, etc. to see if that might use more of the pixels but there is no difference. What is the difference in these measurements and how can I make sure that the histogram counts every pixel?

Also, once I have that issue figured out, to convert my pixel count to a cell area, do I use the equation

A=P/s^2?
A=real cell area
P=pixel count
S=linear pixel/cm.

I have a bar scale from the microscope on the bottom of each image, thus I can accurately find this variable. I would have to square it since I need the area. Does that look correct?

Photoshop :: Crop Hide And Histogram

Feb 24, 2008

When using the Hide function on the Crop tool I understand the pixels are hidden and the info retained. My question is does the Histogram palette look at the 'big picture' on the Hide function, and the histograms in either Levels or Curves only look at what is visible?

I'm guessing this is so, but was wondering if someone could verify it. I ask because of the difference in the histograms when using Levels or Curves compared to the Histogram palette.

Photoshop :: Automation - Create Thumbnails With File Name On Sheet

Oct 24, 2013

To make things easier to understand, I'll explain what I do: our sports' photography department makes photos of several sports teams, we print the photos, we put them in a basic two-sheeted album, and then send the photos to the team. As we print all the photos together, they are on a big pile and it's very difficult to sort them with the correct team name. So we take the printed photo, and compare it to all the team photos on the computer, which have the team name in the file name. So this is a very inefficient and slow process.

I was thinking of printing the photos as thumbnails on a sheet, and THEN compare them to the printed sports' photos. It's a lot easier to have a piece of paper with e.g. 10 photos to compare to than browse them on a computer.

So, again, I hope there's a way to let Photoshop put 10 thumbnails on a single sheet, and put the file name below it. All automatically (with an action?) of course.

Photoshop :: How To Get Histogram To Give Accurate Reading

Apr 24, 2012

I use the histogram feature in PS to figure out how many square feet of yarn I will use in a rug that I am making (I work as a rug designer). I am running into a problem with this which is scary because my numbers have to be accurate.

As an example, I may have a 9x12 (inch--this is later blown up to feet using a transparency) drawing. In the drawing there may be 45 organic looking shapes that will be green. I use the magic wand tool and choose all of these green shapes. What I am noticing is that once I get to a certain number (not always consistent) in the histogram reading it will all of a sudden change to a different number and go to (for example) Cache 3. Because of this I have no idea if my histogram reading is accurate.

Is this some sort of memory issue? How do I prevent this from happening so that I can get an accurate heading?

Photoshop :: Bug - Histogram Does Not Update When Using Painting Tools?

Sep 10, 2012

I was investigating something else, and I saw something not working...  I'm under the distinct impression that the Histogram panel should automatically update after every operation.  Having the Histogram panel displayed full-time on the screen, it should always be up to date.

However, when I Dodge or Burn or even paint color on an image, the Histogram is not updating.  If I select one of the History states I've just created, it updates.Consider this simple sequence of operations:

I'm able to reproduce this failure in Photoshop CS5 as well, BUT NOT IN CS4 (it updates in Photoshop CS4 after every painting operation), so clearly it's not a new bug, though somehow I've managed not to notice it in my years of using Photoshop CS5.

Is it broken like this for everyone in Photoshop CS5 and 6?Could this be some twisted attempt to try to optimize painting performance?  If so, why isn't there an option to allow a user to request it to update on every operation on a fast computer with cores out the wazoo?
