Photoshop :: Batch Automation, Can It Create...

Apr 23, 2008

using CS2...I know how to create actions and use the Batch Automation thing but not sure how or if this is possible...

I have a ton of folders in one folder. inside each folder are a bunch of TIF files. I want to create an action to run as a batch to open that TIF, convert it to JPG then save in a separate folder with the same name in another folder. Basically im duplicating what I have in one folder to another folder with one being the original TIFs and the new set being JPG, all in folders of the same names.

Basically I know how to do all of this except when I set up the batch, it seems to only allow the new JPGs to be saved in a single folder. It can pull all the TIFs using the "include subfolders" in the source section but only places the new/revised file into a single folder.

Photoshop :: Batch Automation!

Sep 2, 2008

I'm am using Adobe Photoshop CS 2 on a 2.33 gHz Intel Core 2 Duo Mac Book Pro, running OSX 10.4.11.

So here's my situation. I'm editing a music video. I'm editing with Final Cut Pro, but I want to use filters from Photoshop. So I export every frames of my video in JPEG format and I add effects to each frame using Photoshop. I created an action to apply the CUTOUT filter on all my frames using batch automation. But here is my problem : everytime I start the process, the JPEG Options dialog opens up. I need to click "OK" on each frame for it to save to JPEG ! It seems the "Ok" to that dialog cannot be recorded by Photoshop's actions... Am I doing something wrong ? Is there a way I could automate this dialog so that I don't have to click "OK" for every single one of the 7000 frames I'm working on?

Photoshop :: JPG To PNG [Batch/Automation] Process?

Aug 5, 2008

completely remove the white background. Because this will be a batch process that includes others lighter hats, I can only use a maximum of 10 as a tolerance. When placed on a black background, it reflects some white fringe.

I'm starting with the Magic Eraser (10 tolerance), then doing Layer/Matting/Defringe, and no matter what tolerance I apply there (up to 20), some white pixels remain around the edge. Very frustrating to find a happy medium process in order to batch various colors to an acceptable quality.

Photoshop :: Export Fixed File Size With A BATCH Automation

Aug 12, 2003

does anyone know if it's possible to export a desired (fixed) file size with a batch automation in Photoshop? For example:

I have 50 images (*.jpg) that have different file sizes (25k, 15k, 45k etc) now I would like to export a fixed file size to 10k for all images...

I have tried this in Photoshop and in Fireworks, but the Programs exported 10K or less and sometimes even greater than 10k

I would really be happy if someone knows a way to do this or if there are any stand-alone programs that can automate and export targeted file sizes.

Photoshop :: Automation - Create Thumbnails With File Name On Sheet

Oct 24, 2013

To make things easier to understand, I'll explain what I do: our sports' photography department makes photos of several sports teams, we print the photos, we put them in a basic two-sheeted album, and then send the photos to the team. As we print all the photos together, they are on a big pile and it's very difficult to sort them with the correct team name. So we take the printed photo, and compare it to all the team photos on the computer, which have the team name in the file name. So this is a very inefficient and slow process.

I was thinking of printing the photos as thumbnails on a sheet, and THEN compare them to the printed sports' photos. It's a lot easier to have a piece of paper with e.g. 10 photos to compare to than browse them on a computer.

So, again, I hope there's a way to let Photoshop put 10 thumbnails on a single sheet, and put the file name below it. All automatically (with an action?) of course.

Photoshop :: Photoshop Automation/Batch

Jun 12, 2008

I need to open up a series of pdf files (usually 48 - 56 files in all) to a specific resolution and width, then save for web as a jpg file. I recorded the actions to open (with the resolution and size), save for web, then close. When I run the batch I used the Override Action "Open" Command so that PhotoShop will open all the files in the specified folder, and not the same pdf over and over again. The problem is, PhotoShop opens the files as the same file name (the name of the file used during the recording) and thus saves all the images as the same name. Even if I use Override Action "Save As" Command, and set it to Page + 2 Digit Serial + extension the file always saves with the same original name. Which is either coming from the automate or the file name the pdf was opened with.

I have considered opening all the files to the correct size then using the automate/batch to save and close them, but it's a bit of a pain to manually open all the files instead of doing work in a another program while I let it run.

I'm using PhotoShop CS3.

Photoshop :: How To Create Action / Batch

Feb 8, 2012

I have 200 tiffs in one folder (each tiff is named 'image 1-200') all without an alpha channel.

I have 200 different tiffs in another folder (named 'luma matte 1-200').

I've have copied the first images of the 'luma matte 1.tiff' (a black and white image) and pasted it into a newly created alpha layer in 'the image 1.tiff' channel window.

I save this out as a new tiff called 'composite 1' and it works in the way I require it to work.

How would I automate this process rather than having to do it individually for all the 200 files. I'm not sure if this can be done with a series of actions/batch? I dont want to use After Effects luma key as this isn't giving me the correct results.

Photoshop :: Create A New Folder With Batch Command

Nov 8, 2012

I have a bunch of pictures in a folder, and lots of sub folders inside that folder with picture too. I made an action that has a filter, and a save command.

When I try it on that folder, it overwrites the pictures and while it does a batch on the sub folders, it throws it back in the main folder.

What I would like instead: I want to do the command on all the pictures, but I want Photoshop to create a duplicate folder (named slightly differently if able) inside my own folder and sub folders with the filtered images.

Say I have 2 folders here, I want Photoshop to go into "batch test main folder", then dive into the sub folders, make a new folder within that pictures1 folder, named Filter Pictures or something, and throw all the filtered images from Pictures 1 in there without harming them. Then go to Pictures 2, make a new sub folder in there too etc.

Photoshop :: How To Create Action To Batch Save Multiple Photos

I've been searching the Web, but I haven't been able to locate anything useful on this (except one article for CS5). Seems a bit odd. Anyway, I already know how to create an action, but what I'm stuck on is having the action pause and open a dialogue box so I can do things like name a photo, choose the size I want in the Save for Web dialogue, etc.

Photoshop :: Crop And Straighten Automation

Feb 14, 2006

I am running Photoshop CS. I have many hundred documents to scan and was going to use the pre loaded "Crop and Straighten" tool under file/automate. My problem is I want to run this over a folder that will save and close, not just one image at a time.

I also want it to do an automatic save using the current file name without adding the word "copy" to it, and not have to type over the file name each time when the save option comes up with "Filename copy.tiff".

I know the Crop and straighten tool is great for putting several images on a scanner and it separating them into individual images, but this is not what I am doing, I have one scan, one document.

So is it possible to run this over a folder of 500+ documents and walk away from it, have all images save and close using the current name, and not fill the desktop up with many opened images that need to be manually closed?

Illustrator :: Batch Create Symbols From Layers?

Apr 19, 2013

I have Illustrator files of some fairly complicated schematics that I will be bringing in to Flash. The layers are already well organized and named so I would like to select particular layers, hit a "create symbols" button and have all of the selected layers turned into separate symbols that have the same name as their layer name. I would even be willing to code something to do this but I can't find any information about how it can be done.

I know that I can import an Illustrator file into Flash and select layers that I can then make into movie clips but again, I have to manually select the layer, tell it to be a movie clip and then give it an instance name. I would be happy to try to automate that process as well but haven't found any info on how it can be done either.

how I can batch create symbols from my existing layers?

Illustrator Scripting :: Action To Batch Export Folder Of AI Files To Create 300dpi PNG

Oct 3, 2011

I created an Action to batch export a folder of .ai files to create 300dpi .png's of the .ai file's artboard. I did this by simply recording "Export...as png" with my desired settings then Batch running the Action on desired folder of .ai files.  The files were successfully exported, the trouble is that the exported files lack a .png file extension. My intent is to take these PNG files and merge them into a single PDF using Acrobat Pro. Unfortunatly, without the .PNG extension, Acrobat Pro does not recognize the file types and does not let me use the Combine Files feature on them. Going back and manually adding a .png at the end of the exported files defeats the time-saving purpose of Batch Processing all together. Is there something I am missing or doing incorrectly? I have included screenshots of 1) My Batch Action settings 2) folders showing files without .png extension and 3) visual of what I see when I am trying to combine PNGs into a PDF.

Photoshop :: Batch Color Correction And Batch Levels Oddities

Apr 12, 2012

So I have an action that I've been using for the past couple years (?) now that involves opening an image, applying an auto color and auto levels, saving and closing. This has been working for me since probably a couple years ago when I made the action. Yesterday, I was working on a scanning project where I have groups of images in separate folders. I ran the action on the first 2 folders which went fine.

When I got to the 3rd folder all the way up to the last one, PS just loads all the images, does the levels and color then fails to save/close them when done. On one of my folders, it gets through a few of them when it drops the ball and just opens all of them. I'm not sure what's going on as there's no real explanation as to why this is happening.. especially when I've been using this action (and I even made a new action with still no luck). Last week I had about 300 images I had to work with and PS decided to pull this move on me after doing the first 30 of them fine...which is when I first noticed this happening.

To further add, I set my action to show everything step by step and it seems to happen with select images (in some cases, these select images are entirely what is in the folder). With the select images, it is not doing the actions entirely in order. Typically it does it in this manner:

1-Levels
2-Levels
3-Save
4-Close

What I'm now experiencing is this:

2-Levels
1-Levels

(Skips 3 and 4 since it is starting at 2 and working upward).
