Photoshop :: Making A Person Skin Using Gradients, Patterns...

Nov 19, 2005

I know it´s possible to create new characters for realistic games, Mangás and even presentation, simulating pure skin, as in people using trunks. They can preserve the face, feet, hands and even chest, however they do limbs entirelly from scratch. I know they use the ´copy area´ button, but some skin can be made from the beginning, by means of noise, patterns and gradient. I would like to know some of these techniques

I´m almost expert using ´copy area´ effects until now, but I do know it´s insufficient for a good artwork. Some limb areas still looks ´repeated´ and ´painted-like´.

Photoshop :: B/W Pictures Where Person's Skin Bright?

Jan 7, 2012

I colorize black and white photos, but I also come by b/w pictures where the person's skin is so bright, it is just a white blob with eyes, nose, and a mouth. And when I colour it, it is a super-bright skin colour blob with a nose and mouth. How can I put back natural looking shadows to it?

Photoshop :: Applying Filters To Patterns Or Gradients?

May 27, 2012

I am an intermediate to moderatley advanced user of CS5 but any way to apply a filter such as blur or liquify to a pre-existing pattern or gradient (overlay)? Can a pattern or gradient be put on it's own editable layer for instance? Have tried a few ways so far but without success.

Photoshop :: Making Hair And Skin?

Mar 4, 2009

I really want to get into making artwork similar to the picture here images.elfwood.com/art/k/o/kozienko/dwarf_axeman.jpg (with the www in front)

So i started with some rough ideas, shapes and color and started messing around with some of the tools. I'm not that great of an artist and couldn't figure out an easier method of making the textures, I'm new to Photoshop.

Does anyone know some good tutorials and how to make pictures like this? I've looked very hard and seen a ton of stuff, but people are usually terrible about explaining how they're doing something or what tools they're using, plus, this picture is a lot cooler then any other I've seen.

Or can someone atleast link something on making realistic (or actually somewhat overly dramatic) skin and/or hair...

Or even better! If any of you talented people out there can MAKE a tutorial, that would be great!

Thanks for taking the time to read my post, I hope someone can help me out.

Illustrator :: Making Film Negatives With Gradients

Oct 28, 2013

I am trying to convert a CMYK logo, which I didn't design, into pantone colors for film output (for negatives to make plates for a printing press), but there are many colors and gradients in the original file. I don't know much about offset printing, as I usually use a digital press, but I need to know how to best preserve the look of the original file.  I can break down into 4 colors, but I lose the gradient effect... Is there a way to preserve that effect in a film negative? (I'm working in Illustrator CS6 on Mac OS X 10.6.8)

(The image to the left is the original logo... To the right, is the 2 color (Pantone) separation image, which will work for film output, but looks significantly different than the original.  I don't know much about the offset press on which these logos will be printed, but I've been told it's a maximum of 4 colors per printed image.  I know the press operator can mix any pantone color, but I think the film can only be separated into a maximum of 4 different colors....

I also noticed my right eye is much darker do to the lighting of the original picture, and I can't seem to get that lightened to match the left one.

Photoshop :: Making Human Skin Texture For Game

Aug 10, 2004

I am a game coder/artist using 3ds Max. To date, I have used very simplistic methods of making character skins. I need to step it up a notch and start making more realistic (human) skin textures for humans models in this game I'm working on.

I have been searching the web for several days on this topic and finding little luck. Here are the problems I am encountering:

1. Most skin tutorials for cgi I've found are for high-res, pre-rendered images in Max or Maya ,and not for games. They use several shaders and bump maps and complex multi-texturing that I cannot use in a game.

2. I found one fairly decent skin making tutorial but it used a clouds effect that really only works for light-skinned characters. I tried to modify for darker skin characters and it looks really bad.

3. In general, I have not found much for this at all on the web.

Illustrator :: Making Seamless Brushes - Uniform Patterns

Aug 30, 2013

I understand how to make the brushes, but is there any way to have greater control over how uniform the patterns appear?

For example: I'm trying to create a brush that is made up of tiny beads.  But I can't seem to make one perfectly, as the beads get distorted or chopped off when I attempt to create shapes with the line or pen tools.

And yes, I've tried all of the preferences in the brushes pane, but neither of them works well.

With this bead brush, I would like to write words.  So you can see where I'm going with this.  The letters of the words would be made up of tiny beads (there are fonts like this, except I'd like to colour the beads my own way).

I know AI has a ton more gradients premade than that so why aren't they in the list? How do I add more to that dropdown?

GIMP :: Reducing Exposure On Skin While Keeping It Looking Like Skin

Nov 20, 2012

I occasionally use GIMP to burn-down parts of portraits that compete with the face. For example, bare shoulder, midriff over-light, hands over-lit.

The skin ends up looking greyish, not like less-lit skin. It works not too badly visually, as the emphasis is on the face, but fails on inspection.

I have tried the burn tool and just plain old Brightness, both on a selected area.
