Photoshop :: Interface Keeps Changing In Save For Web
Apr 10, 2009
How can I set my interface to stay the same as one time the "save for web" panel shows the 4 images in a square, then the next time it shows in 4 vertical strips and then other times is shows up in horizontal strips?
photoshop cs6 - when I use the "save to web" feature and hit "save" when I'm ready to export, I go to copy and paste a name of a file to "Save As"Â and instead of it pasting there it ends up pasting where I last had my cursor on the "save to web" interface instead
When I open "Save for Web" the normal grey interface is black, which means all of the dark text / settings are unreadable (see attached). I didn't change any settings before it started doing this, and I've reinstalled PS and it didn't fix it. I'm trying it with small photos and have more than enough RAM allocated to PS, so I've run out of things to try.Â
I have for a long time been an advocate for the darker interface, using it mainly in After Effects. So it's great that the CS6 apps have taken this to other apps in the Suite. However Save for Web has been missed out it seems. Anyone else think this should be able to be darkened like the rest of the PS interface?
I've just installed Paintshop Prox4 to a computer running Japanese Windows. It appears that it installed the Japanese language version. Is there any way to change the interface to English, as this would make it much easier to do things.
I've just reformatted my PC and reinstalled Xara Pro 6. I used to have it set for the light background as it's easier for my eyes. I can't remember how I did this, how to change the program background colour from dark to light?
I am wanting to change the current greys to the blue backgrounds that used to be the default. I emailed Gary and he said to ask this forum, so here I am asking this forum. He said that it was a keyboard command to change it to an older version. So I am asking what are the keyboard command(s) to change the gray look to the blue look of old.
I run an action to prepare my photos for FB, 500px, Photo.net, etc., which reduces image size 960 x ?, 8-bit, sRGB, and 72 dpi. I then sharpen and add copyright info. However, when I use "Save to Web" it reduces the size of the photo and strips metadata for faster loading but reverts back to a 300 dpi resolution.
Basically I am making a new pattern of stars, so I created a 1000 by 1000 document, filled with black, added noise, then added an adjustment layer to thin out the noise and make it look like stars in space. It looks great!
How to save it without the effect changing. I tried flattening the image, and it messed up how I wanted it to look. I tried merging visible, that didn't work. I tried just saving it as a PNG, like I do with all my projects, but that didn't work. And defining a pattern did the exact same thing. I just want to have what I physically see on the screen save as is so I can use it with other things.
Hurricane Irene has hit us hard and I lost 4 computers.
I downloaded X4 again and when I re-open a file that was designed in x4 previously, all colors replicate except RGB Green (0,255,0) that we use as a cutting contour on a Roland print/cut. There are hundreds of files. It now opens it as Green (4,255,2).
We need to use RGB because of 10 years of files written in Corel 3-11.
Now I realize that files we just composed and saved are also opening with the same results.
I don't understand two things about the workspace tabs:
First, if I right click on a file in a file list like Windows Explorer and select "Open in PSPX4", the file opens in the X4 Edit workspace but disappears if I then click on the Adjust tab. Click back on the Edit tab and it is still gone. But if I click on a file in the X4 Organizer the image appears in all three workspaces, Manage, Adjust, and Edit. In X3 I could toggle back and forth between Express Lab and Full editor and the image would appear in both, no matter if it was opened through Explorer or from Organizer. Apparently X4 only want users to open files from its own organizer?
Second, I don't understand why after making edits to an image in one workspace, like Adjust, I cannot then switch to the Edit tab and make further edits without having to first save the changes made in Adjust. If I happen to go back and forth a few times making edits in two work spaces and am forced to save the file each time, don't these multiple file saves degrade JPEG files due to compounded compression? If so I would rather save only once at the end of all edits. Or am I not understanding the meaning of "save" in this context (a likely possibility). And part B, after making an edit and clicking on a different tab, why am I prompted to save when I have Auto save enabled?
i'm using gimp 2.6.11 on a windows 7 enterprise machine. I made some brushes in rbg mode and saved as gbr, and also converted some ps brushes by exporting an abr as a png in rbg mode then saving as gbr. my goal is to get a gbr brush that i can change the color to the foreground color. I tried changing the mode from rgb to greyscale but when i try to re-save as gbr i get an error message that brushes can only be saved in greyscale or rgba (!).
i've tried saving the gbr as a png, changing the mode to greyscale and then saving as gbr but i get the same error message.
Any good skin texture brushes for gimp that can be used with foreground color? It's for a digital portrait of a male so I need an orangepeel texture and some other skin textures that aren't too airbrushed.
I've noticed an anomoly when working with XREF's and changing units. With the company that I work, we receive client drawings, XREF them in, and put our drawings on top of them. For this particular project, we have about 150 drawings that we are working with. The biggest problem is the drawings we receive are in various units, and we draw in millimeters. So when we go to XATTACH, we have to make sure the XREF drawing's units are set to mm, although most of them are not. So we navigate to the XREF drawing, open it, open the UNITS window, change it to millimeters, accept, save, and close the drawing. However, when we go back into the actual drawing to XATTACH again, the unit change in the XREF has not taken effect. Reopening the drawing and launching UNITS will show that, indeed, the unit change was not saved. Doing it a second time will take effect, but why do we have to do this dance in the first place?
This problem occurs about 50% of the time. I can't seem to find a pattern with it. If I make a change to the XREF drawing itself as well as changing the units (like moving the pan or zoom), but to no avail.

Working in a assembly and just edited an existing note in the Engineering notebook. Clicked the "X" to close the assembly.... what? no prompt to save the file?
Just checked adding a note to a ipt and it doesn't dirty the file either, so if you only add a new engineering note, you have to save it, cause it won't prompt you before closing.
When I toggle the interface on/off it causes missing menu toolbar items and icons until I exit and restart Photoshop CS4. I know this can happen if problem filters are installed. So I have the latest Alien Skin filters installed and have already followed their AutoLayer2.8li file updates to resolve Windows Photoshop CS4 issues. I also have Luxology imageSynth 2.0 filter installed. So since all my filters are updated to CS4 compatible versions, I shouldn't have this problem but yet it occurs. I'm using WinXP SP2, 4 GB RAM, GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 with newest 185.85 driver. I have 3D canvas rotation turned on.
The interface for PS CS4 is missing its bar at the bottom and the Windows Task Bar is no longer visible. Can someone please tell me how to return the interface to its default condition?
I just recently upgraded from CS2 to CS4 and am finding it changed enough that it's slowing me down. I have a couple questions I hope someone can answer.
What is bothering me the most is that when I left click over an image I no longer can duplicate it, or change its size. I'm stuck with going to the menus and that takes longer than what I'm used to.
I've also been unable to figure out how to split the properties panels that now want to form two columns instead of one, and I haven't figured out how to break any given panel up and use only the part I want.
I've designed a logo with a green background (C: 57,5 - M: 15,15 - Y: 99,73 - K: 1,65) in Illustrator cs6. When I want to save my file as .PDF, and I open my PDF file, the green colour has changed (C: 59,22 - M: 12,94 - Y: 90,98 - K: 62,67). When I save my file as PDF I use the standard properties of Adobe (Acrobat 6, PDF 1.5).
In CS5 I have the interface set up so that the windows dock but when there are no windows open you can see the desktop.  In CS6 there is this big ugly black panel on show all the time Have tried to compare the setting but cannot see any options that are fundermentally different.  Can I remove this background and if so how to do this.
I am using the application frame in CS6 in a MAC environment (OSX 10.7). The interface tends to move around on the monitor getting lodged up under the OS menu bar.
Is there a way to lock the interface on the monitor like it its done on a Windows 7 OS?
Everything is in the title,  When I select the eydropper and I drag it outside Photoshop to sample a color of an image (in another window) everything seem to "move" in photoshop until I reach that image. When I say move it's the view that's moving not the layers etc.  How to make photoshop "view" stand still while i'm dragging the eyedropper out ?
