View 2 RepliesI am trying to align two identical images which are 180 degrees rotated apart ( and not exact mirrors ) I need to be able to grab the rotation handles from within the area of the image. In order to see matching features I need to be zoomed in, and can't see the features if I zoom out far enough to grab the handles. I prefer the handles over numerically transforming.
View 6 Replies View RelatedCurrently when I use the gradient tool I have no way of gettng back into the individual gradients that I have created - the little clickable circles that used to show up on the image have gone! Have tried everything I know about without reinstalling the software as Im scared of damaging/ loosing my catalogues and settings. Before you ask, yes I am in the gradient tool - the adjustments panel is viewable and apart from invisible handles seems to work as usual.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen setting up a simple FK control curve on say the wrist for example, many times the control curve isn't exactly perpendicular to the local rotation axis of the joint movement, so when we position the control curve to be perpendicular to the joint - it has a rotational value added, but the rotational handles are lines up with the rotational handles of the joint that we want to move.
Freeze Transformations: then the control curves rotational handle go back to being skewed (out of alignment with the joints)
We want to Freeze transformations before constraining the curve, but we'd really to keep those rotations control handles to remain aligned with the joints rotational handles. This will make it an exact control when animating - grab the rotational handle of the curve, rotate it, and the joint will move exactly in the proper direction.
how to get the rotational handle of any control curve to run perpendicular to the shape after freezing transformations?
I am making a template file having title block with fields. I use this template for creating layouts and sheets using Sheet Set Manager and the fields will be updated from the data of SSM. Now i would like to add a dynamic north block to my template. The block could be rotated (i have this block in file itself) and rotation angle could be inserted. Now how can i add a custom field to SSM so that i could set a rotation angle for the project and thus every new layout or sheet created using the template has the north block rotated with the angle mentioned in SSM.
Here is the file...........
To summarize: It seems that compounding a path resets the rotation of the gradient to it's original degree of rotation.
Detailed version:
1. Create a shape.
2. Add a gradient fill. Note it's degree of rotation. Let's say it's set at 10°.
3. Now rotate the shape by any means (transform or rotate tool). Note the gradient degree of rotation has shifted the same amount as the shape was rotated (if it was rotated 50°, the gradient will show at 60°).
4. Make it a compound path.
5. Instantly the gradient shifts back to it's original degree of rotation of 10°.
It appears that when rotating a shape with a gradient, the rotation of the gradient is locked to the rotation of the shape. But when making it a compound shape it releases that lock and "remembers" it's original state. But that is only true as soon as you make it a compound path, but if you no go ahead and rotate it just a bit using the cursor (as opposed to selecting transform > rotate), the gradient will switch back to how you would expect it to rotate in the first place...
Workaround would be to make it a compound path before rotating the shape at all.
I want to rotate a drawing in my paper space, but without rotating it in model space. So that I still can work on it easily in model space.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a North Arrow that I would love to make into a dynamic block. I would like to be able to rotate the N that represents where the north direction is. But while rotating the N around the center of a circle I would like the letter itself to stay un-rotated. It seems simple, if I rotate the letter around the axis of a circle 90 deg, I would like the letter itself to rotate -90 deg on it's own axis. Of course this is easy to do manualy, but how do i do it so that rotation 1 automaticaly triggers rotation 2?

I got too smart for myself today in bringing an old drawing up to current standards...Everyone seems to want their block attributes to be zero - I have blocks where the attributes are best when they match the rotations of each blocks.
I have an old drawing that was rotated (as it should be) at approx 2deg.
I used a lisp routine to global edit all the blocks that needed to be at zero. BUT for some reason (and after hundreds of blocks were corrected), I noticed I now have two blocks that should NOT have been in the set have had their attributes rotated to zero....and the attributes should be at the same rotation as their block's rotation.
Because those two blocks have a fixed tic mark, I can click on the mark to see what the block rotation is, then rotate its attribute to that rotation, but I have hundreds of blocks! One-at-a-time sucks....
Any chance there is a GLOBAL way to edit an attribute rotation to match its own block's rotation?
I have a file that is 13 x9. In print dialogue box I used the bounding handles to shrink it to 9x6.
Now today I want to print at true file size. I open image size dialogue box and it is still 13x9. But when I open print dialogue box it still says 9x6? why? and it look 9x6 in the preview, not 13 x9 which is the real size of file -- so I'm confused.
If I type in 13 x9 or use bounding handles again to get 13 x9 am I now upresing the file??
When I open the crop tool I only get crop handles on the four corners of the crop area. The crop handles at the midpoints do not appear. (I get only 4 handles, not 8 handles.)

I am trying to use the Iris Blur in CS6, but no handles are showing up for any of the blurs in the blur gallery. I've restarted the program and my computer and tried different files, still no luck. The pallette will open up and I can see blur but no handles. Is there some way that I could have accidently turned them off? When I first got the program it worked fine..

Photoshop 7 has suddenly stopped showing object handles, so I am unable to resize or transform a portion of an image that I have selected. I can find no instructions as to how I can get the handles to show again.

Just starting to work with CS6. I click on a path, which shows the path nodes.... then go to the top menu interactive menu bar at the top of the screen to 'click-ON' the checkbox to display the path's transform corner handles.... and discover it is no longer there?
Where the heck did they put it? Don't tell me Adobe deleted this basic and oft - used function and made it a multi-finger, cluster-hump keyboard ONLY command?
Can I get this feature to display at the top menu header bar again?
I have read all the previous posts about this, and taken all steps. Running WIn7, 64 bit, my video card is 512Mb, drivers are up to date, PS is up to date, I restarted and stil no handles appear in the Lighting Effects filter.

Why can't I fix the size of my image in Photoshop? I try to make it, for example, 3.5" x 2.5", and have tried both the image size AND canvas size options. When I go and check the image size, it is 3.52" x 2.51", for instance. I've never encountered this before (using Photoshop 12 years now), and don't know how to fix this.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am a digital scrapbook designer and I, and several fellow designers, have just started experiencing some odd behavior in CS. It is occuring on both Mac and PC platforms and in versions of CS3 through 5.
We create 12 x 12 in (3600 x 3600 px) 300 dpi documents used by our customers as "backgrounds" for digital scrapbooking kits. We save the documents as jpg's Basline Standard, anywhere from 8-12. Sometimes, if we open a saved jpg and place (drag) it onto a new 12 x 12 document, we notice that the saved file is just a bit and sometimes as much as an 8th of an inch smaller than the new document, even though they are both 12 x 12, 300 dpi. Additionally sometimes when we drag the saved files from Finder or Windows Explorer to a new document while holding the shfit key to center placement, we're still off by that same 8th of an inch. Sometimes, if we align the horizontonal and vertical, the same jpg will be perfectly aligned and no longer too small for the 12 x 12 document and sometimes you can very clearly see the edges of the layer beneath.
This issue is driving us nuts because it just started happening recently and our customers, who very often have their finished scrapbook pages printed, have also started noticing. I don't have a clue where start trouble-shooting this.
I have created a polka dot pattern (.125 inch) on Photoshop CS6. When I print it out at home it comes out perfectly. However, I need larger print outs so, I corresponded with FedEx print to make them for me. The issue is that the dots come out a bit smaller than .125 inch.
