AutoCAD Inventor :: Transition From Single User / Desktop Content To Two User / Vault?

May 7, 2013

After getting Vault installed on our server and successfully setting up users and connections, I used the Library Transfer Guide to move our Content Center (including custom) to the Vault. I then changed the Inventor Application Options -> Content Center -> Access Options to Autodesk Vault Server.

This seems to have worked, as I can Place from Content Center when in an assembly, and it is pulling standard content as well as our custom files properly from the vault.  However, in the instructions that I used for the installlation, it was suggested to stick with a standard folder structure within the Vault, namely two Library Folders named 'Content Center Files' and 'Libraries' and also a regular folder named 'Designs'.

I created those folders prior to transferring the library, as I thought they would be populated with the standard/custom content. This was not the case and I am curious when these folders come into play? *they are empty*

Also, today I will be attempting to 'Check In' a project to the Vault that I recently completed; does this usually maintain structural relationships between files?

Would you recommend using a single project structure in vault for two people? It seems, since we won't be working on the same project at the same time, having a single project would not be relavant to our situation..

Photoshop :: Extensions Sub-Menu In CC?

Jun 29, 2013

On OS X Mountain Lion the Photoshop Extensions Sub-Menu in CC is grey when I first launch.  I believe this is the same as in CS5.  But I think it is non-the-less a bug, because the delay in making that window available makes it appear that MiniBridge is not available, unless I wait and then come back to the menu.

Photoshop :: Can't Fresh Install From CS2 - CDs App Install Option Is (Grayed Out)?

Mar 14, 2013

I  have CS2 Premium which I'm running on an older PowerPC Mac (G5  -  Dual 2.3 GHz ) running OS 10.4.11. I've had this setup for many many years (registered/activated with Adobe) but suddenly one day I could no longer launch my Photoshop app: when I clicked on the Pshop icon it would start the launch (open) procedure ...  and then almost instantly it would quit (in just a few seconds ... before the application even got to the 'title/credit' screen).

I've recently tried uninstalling CS2 (everything except Acrobat) and I ended up doing a manual uninstall of Version Cue. I've been on Macs for 20+ years so figured this would be a pretty straightforward procedure - uninstall -> reinstall and then back to work.  Nope.

I'm attempting a fresh installation direct from the original CS2 CDs. In any event, when I try to (re)install CS2 - and after going through the standard screens with Adobe's usage terms agreement and installation hard disk selection -  I arrive at the screen where one selects which application(s) to install by checking the various boxes (or alternately, to install the entire suite) but the 'Adobe Photoshop CS2/Adobe ImageReady CS2' line and checkbox are grayed out, so it will not allow me to check them and continue with the Photoshop installation process.

Photoshop :: Extensions / Panels - Not Working?

Oct 7, 2013

This is the issue:The other day i got an error message in Photoshop saying that Generator crashed and can't start until i uninstall other 3rd party plugins and reinstall PS. So I went to Extension manager and tried removing but ended up with an "Error code: -451 can't remove extension." Huh? Okay so I went on to do this the manual way following the [URL]...

Great! Now everything s clean. I reinstall PS as asked. and Duh! Nothing changed! The extensions are still there. So I tried uninstalling again, using the adobe cleaner tool and ten reinstall. Same thing - it's still there but the generator won't work.

Ok now I'm starting to get desperate. First I uninstall EVERYTHING adobe (even flash player), use the cleaning tool and then search the harddrive for anything having to do with adobe - all adobe folders, including temp folders, all registry accounts and remved them. Then I removed all things having to do with the extensions, searched the entire hd and if found any instance i removed it.

So I redownloaded Adobe Cloud, started a new account (for safety) and started to reinstall...After launching PS I see that the generator "reflow" option is back again, great! But, what the duck?! The extensions are still there!!

So I launch Extension manager, and it's empty completely empty. How am I now supposed to update the extensions? And how do I remove them

Photoshop :: CC Extensions Menu Is Not Selectable

Jul 16, 2013

Photoshop CC Extensions menu is greyed out. I cannot select event that menu.

The extensions installed successfully in Extension Manager CC, no errors. I even tried uninstalling and trying just 1... no dice. I've reinstalled Extension Manager CC without success as well.

A few of those extensions are scripts and those are available through the File > Scripts just fine, but the Extensions are not. I have no issue at home using them, but here on my work computer I cannot access them at all.

In Photoshop CC, I cannot even click on the Extensions menu, not even the Exchange is available which is built in:

I uninstalled and reinstalled Photoshop CC and reinstalled the plugins and I still have the same issue. No error messages, it's just not selectable.

Photoshop :: PSD Versus PSB File Extensions?

May 9, 2012

what apart from PSB's ability to handle very large files, are the advantages of one over the other? Reason I ask is the PS Autorecover file has a PSB extension, which I guess enables the feature to handle any file size. So if it is used to recover your work, why do we need to continue to have two formats. Why not just one?

Photoshop :: CS8 Misnaming File Extensions

Aug 9, 2008

I just made a whole website design in 3 psd documents, and I went to save as on each of them, and had .psd selected. It saved, and I thought it was ok. But then I went to open it again and it had a smaller file size than I expected...and I realized it was a jpg disguised as a psd, which also when opened gave me the classic 'Cannot open..not a valid photoshop document'...but of course even the jpgs are useless to me as I had various pages on different layers, made invisible. Under normal circumstances I would accept it and start again, however I have not since closed photoshop since I began tweaking them, and thus wondered if it might at all be possible to reload the documents as they once were (they were all real .psd documents before I opened them today).

Photoshop :: Contact Sheet With No Extensions

Using this method is much faster than placing individual photos on the page and re-typing names.

I am using PhotoShop CS3.

Photoshop :: How To Save With TIFF File Extensions

Mar 19, 2013

I work in publishing and convert hundreds of jpgs into tifs each month. In CS6 under save-as when I click on format> tif, I loose the end of my file name.

Eg Figure 8.7.jpg goes to Figure 8.tif >loosing the last part of the filename.

When I have a big list of files to run through, I need the saving process to be as quick as possible without having to alter the file name manually. Why this is happening, it was fine on CS3!

Photoshop :: Save As - Extensions Not Automatically Added

Mar 9, 2012

The problem I've been noticing for a while now has been especially in OSX, now also on windows 7 is that whenever I have a PSD file open and go SAVE AS as a JPG alot of times I tend to do a batch from a single psd with different version.. (  name01.jpg    name02.jpg    name03.jpg     etc.)

What I came across is that sometimes I tend to forget to select JPEG from the drop down menu (because the window always displays Photoshop File as default).

What happens is that Photoshop File is in the drop down menu and I name my file Name01.jpg it saves it as a Photoshop File with a .jpg extension. which confuses everyone that tries to open that file because they cant and its huge..

I remember on windows XP when this happened photoshop was kind enough to name my file Name01.jpg.psd which made the file stand out and approprietly named.

Aside from the whole .PSD  .JPG issue with this not adding the appropriate extension automatically, this also causes problems when I name a file Name01 photoshop leaves it at that and does not add any extention to it so it becomes an orphan file on foreign computers.. It doesn't happen often but when it does I want to punch my computer in the face.

I'm sure I'm not the only one saving JPGs from Photoshop in large numbers that this happened to..

Photoshop :: CS6 / Why Does 13.01 Update Disable Custom Extensions

I had a custom extension (a custom panel made with Adobe Configurator) installed that was working fine in CS6 (PC, both 32 and 64 bit versions) but after the update to 13.01, the extension no longer loads. I have tried reinstalling the extension but that  doesn't work. I can no longer select it from the Window > Extensions menu.As it was working fine before the 13.01 update, I can only imagine it has something to do with that specific update.

Photoshop :: Save As Extensions Scrambled On CS6 Mac Lion?

Jun 7, 2012

When I select save as after editing a file brouight in as a PSD or RAW file if I choose TIFF as the file type the extension appended is PNG. If I choose JPEG the extension is esd. I just updated to be sure I have the latest version.

The connection between finder and photoshop doesn't seem to be working right. Another example being when I choose to open a file the menu that opens requires me first to select the type of file I want to import before it will allow me to select a file type. There is no default.

Photoshop :: New Extensions For Bridge CS4 Up On Adobe Exchange

Nov 4, 2008

You will need to have CS4 for some of these, and you need to make sure your Extension Manager is up to date. If you aren't familiar with EM, it's a way of managing scripts and other extensions without the copy/paste into folders. You can turn extensions on and off without uninstalling, all from one interface.

Coming soon will be the Configurator which allows similar functionality within Photoshop, but is aimed more at user-interface enhancements.

Photoshop :: Extensions Suddenly Crashing CS6 For No Apparent Reason?

May 20, 2013

They were working correctly yesterday, and now the presence of any extension, including 'Adobe Exchange,' will cause the entire application to hang once they are selected from their panel. This seems to be the case for any/all extensions (at least the ones I use). Once I remove them all, the stock tools on the right-hand panel work correctly. However, adding back any of them means that using the panel will crash the application - whether it is selecting an extension or using a built-in feature like "Adjustments" or "3D".

Curiously, when an extension is added to the panel (assuming I don't click on it and crash PS) and I close the application like normal, Photoshop also hangs on exit, forcing me to 'force quit' it. I am not sure how that is related, but there seems to be some kind of correlation.

I'm on an early-2011 macbook pro, 8gb of ram, Radeon 6750M with 1gb of video ram, loads of disk space.

Photoshop :: After CC Crash - Can No Longer Access Extensions Menu

(I also had to use the cleaner/reinstall the incredibly glitchy CC Desktop client.) On top of that, I can no longer access the extensions menu in Photoshop, (It's greyed out.)?
