View 1 RepliesI noticed that the display flickers when going back in history using a script (I'm using Javascript), like so :
var docRef = app.activeDocument;
docRef.activeHistoryState = docRef.historyStates[docRef.historyStates.length-2];
What precisely happens is the document briefly turns to a checker (the same checker that indicates transparency).
It also happens when using "executeAction" with the action recorded by the ScriptListener.But, it only happens when the function is called from within a script, not when I'm using the history panel.
This is a problem because it makes it a lot harder to see what changed between the two history states.i'm using CS6.
In Photoshop 5.5 I hid the history panel on the right side of the screen. How do I get it back?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to learn layers and layer masks. I loaded an image, than control J to duplicate it. I then added a layer mask. Everything good so far. I then went to filters chose a blur. Then went to brushes with black as my foreground color, I just wanted to brush away the blur, and got an error message. "could not use the history brush because the history state does not have a corresponding layer."
View 3 Replies View RelatedEverytime I try to use my history brush, that error pops up and I have no clue why. If I try to just open a blank document and use the brush it does not give me this error and I can "use" the brush but you cant see anything on the project.
so when this error happens im trying to do a project and say I place a file(picture) into the project and this is the very first thing I do. I place it, then I size the image down some. I then make a new layer to use the brush for behind the picture and then this is when I get the error. I have no clue what is wrong
I've just installed PaintNet.. looks like what I've been wanting to replace MS Paint. I just need to know how to get the Color window back once X'd out. Also Layer and History windows.

Basically what I am after is I want to be able to click on a layer and see what layer it is on. I used to have a window on the title bar which would let me do this and I could then click into that window to change any layers. How to get that layer window back into my title bar?
I have somehow pressed a wrong button, and have switched my color-picking pallatte to a new one that I don't particulaly care for (see images); is there a way to revert back to the old color picking pallatte?

I can only see how to delete the entire history in the history panel. Is there a way I can remove only selected states? I am using LR 1.4.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have greenscreen footage, where a green screen was put on a window with tracking markers. A person is moving in front of it, so you can see the reflection. If I just key it and put a garbage mask around it, I can get rid of the green and the tracking markers, but how can i get the reflections back now? Cause if I just screen the original desaturated part back on, you can still see the tracking markers.... Is the only way to first paint over the markers and then screen it back on, or is there another way? I'm on Smoke for mac 2012.

I have just installed my newly purchased PSC5 extended software. When I try to use the ACR it will load and I can use it but when I try to open, save or cancel my image I cannot. This is because the ACR window is too 'long' for my Sony desktop window and the buttons I am trying to access are in the 'shadow' of the desktop window. When I try to resize the ACR window to access the buttons it will let me adjust it on the vertical window edges but not on the horizontal window edges. I have to reboot the laptop to do anything at all.
View 8 Replies View RelatedAs a new user I really prefer the single window mode but have a real problem in that every time I open a filter the window/box that open opens up underneath the single window and I cant see it without minimising the main gimp window. I've played with the preferences windows management options and seem to have all the file options curves etc on top now (these were opening under the single window at one point) but nothing I do seems to want to make the filter boxes open where I can see them - It's making GIMP quite unpleasant to use.

how many history states do you work with?
At the moment I'm working with 30.
I modified a Window Family file by adding a Window inset parameter. When I inserted the window into a wall, otherwise the window worked fine, but when I changed the window's Window Inset value, the frame depth changed instead of the frame's location. The frame was originally made by Sweep tool, but now when I made it by Extrusion tool, the window works fine. Anyway, for future purposes, I would like to know how to be able to use the Window Inset parameter with a frame made by Sweep tool. How do I lock the depth of the frame sweep?
The file is attached.

Frequently can not use the History Brush. I get an error message saying the history state dose not contain the corresponding layer.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe tolerance feature of art history brush tool is explained in the reference as following:
"A high tolerance limits paint strokes to areas that differ considerably from the color in the source state or snapshot"
When I try to use this tool on a image's original state (no difference with the history state) with the 100% tolerance setting, some of the areas can be brushed.
So, I'm a little bit confused about the function of the "tolerance" slider.
When I save a document in photoshop I save it as psd but when I reopen it there is no history showing in the history pallete.

I am doin a flipping of pages, you know when you lick your finger, grap the tip of the page and flip it over, lifting the page from its original flat position, in photoshop using the warp tool and image readywindow-animation.)
Now i have a few pages which look real enough to be seen as a flip.
I was wondering if there was a way to copy the warp tools deformation history of each position/stance to use on another layer, so all pages have more or less the same flipping technique applied to it?
I am using Photoshop CS3 for a photography class. I was playing around with the Filters and Image Adjustments of one of my photos and my teacher really liked it. I thought I remembered what I did, but when I tried to replicate the result with another photo it didn't seem the same.
I saved the first one as a photoshop image. Is there any way I could find a history of exactly what I did to that first photo so that I can do it again to other photos?
I have an image with a long history palette. I have been working with a burn tool. Accidentally I bumped the keyboard, and up comes the image with a new History State, just the Burn Tool with the History Brush. one line. I have none of the others. So, I dump that one in the garbage can. Slight name change but still the Burn Tool Histoy State. I notice the same statement on a second bar at the top, and the same bar having the minimize etc buttons. So, I click the lower bar, now I have an image with all the history states. I save the History state version and exit that screen. Now when I open the History tab, it opens behind the image! I reopen the saved History State image, same thing. All I can do is save the work, exit PS and start it again. The behavior is normal now, but of course minus the history states.

I see how Photoshop CS3 uses the History Log for actions, but can it be set up to not only record the step but what was done in that step, i.e., a History Log entry shows "curves" but doesn't show that a "darker" preset was used in that step.
When I use the history tool, it erases the image instead.
