Photoshop :: How To Copy And Paste Drop Shadow Behind Image
May 18, 2012
I use illustrator most of the time. I'm designing a brochure and I've always embedded images, but now I'm trying to it correctly by linking them instead. So I have an image in ps as a tiff. I created a drop shadow for the image in illustrator.
I want to copy and paste it behind the image into the same file so both are one file linked to the brochure. Also the drop shadow pastes as too small, then i also can't get it positioned right etc.
I'm working in Illustrator CS5 and I want to know if it is possible to copy and paste an effect like a drop shadow. For example, let's say I create a document with some text which has a drop shadow on it and some without the effect. Next I create text in a different font with a different drop shadow effect (different settings for the drop shadow attributes). Later in the project I decide, I want to go back and add the first effect to several objects and/or text in my image. Is there a way to copy that effect and paste it in?
I know that I can go in and manually copy the settings of the effect I want to copy, add the effect to a new object, and then re-apply the effect from that point, but is there a way to simplify the process by just copying the effect?
Copy drop shadow properties is not working for me. When I click on the object to copy to, it tells me, "you did not click on an object." What do I need to do?
Edit: actually, I'm seeing that this is not working in Contour, either. And it may not be working in other effects as well, although I haven't tested those.
I have this image, and would like to extract the drop shadow from it. I made the drop shadow using the blending options. I would like to just have the drop shadow so I can use it as a background image in a div.
Can someone please show me or point me to the right tutorial that will illustrate how to create a thin background image that has a drop shadow on both the left and right borders that run vertically down a centered web page?
The image has a white middle where content is placed and the left and right borders have a drop shadow. After the image is sliced to roughly 760 pixels wide by 1 pixel tall, it will repeat vertically down the page. It is typically placed in the container or wrapper div? It is similar to a faux column.
Do any of you have any tips or ticks for removing a drop shadow from a flattened image?
I have a jpg that I received from a client for a website I'm doing for him. He does not have the logo in any other format. The image is on a white background, which will not work with the design I'm making for him.
The image is fairly simple, it's just some text with triangles, but the text has some layer effects applied to it that I'm not sure where they came from or how to recreate them.
Any ideas on how to remove the drop shadow? I have attached part of the image. If any one has ideas on how to recreate the text effects (including the texture) I am willing to do that and recreate the logo instead of trying to edit out the drop shadow.
I have a rectangular screen grab (Windows application) that I would like to simply round the corners and add a border. The image is not a photograph, but since I have Paint Shop Pro X3 and like how it works, I thought I would try it . I have spent some time trying to do this with Paint Shop Pro X3 with no luck. None of the pre-defined frames seemed to do what I need. I would also like to create a drop-shadow behind the image. how to do this or a video that I can watch. A list of steps would also be OK.
I'm using Photoshop CS6. I have a CMYK image of fruit on a white background with a drop shadow that has some cyan, magenta and yellow. The drop shadow is NOT AN EFFECT. It is part of the original photographed image shot against a white background.
I want to turn the drop shadow into a percentage of black only. I have masked the foot so I have the white background and shadow isolated but now I'm not sure the best way to make the shadow a percentage of black only.
I am currently using Illustrator CS 5.1 and am having an issue with my PDF files. I have a graphic that I am building and when I import an image, place a clipping mask around it and then add a drop shadow to it, everything works fine and looks exactly as I want it on screen. However, when I save the document as a pdf, a hazy white line appears around the edges of the image.
However, the line is not on the clipping mask itself, instead it is on the square edges of the unmasked version of the image. So when I have 10 masked items on the page with drop shadows, I'm getting 10 faint white squares around each of the images which looks terrible.
I would like to create an inner drop shadow around an image like the one shown here in Photoshop or Lightroom, and then automate it so as to use repeatedly on different images. I know how to make an outer shadow but not an inverse one.
i am trying to create a drop shadow on text. i select the text and then copy and then paste in back. however, the copy shows up way above the text and not behind it. what am i doing wrong?
I have a jpg image that I use multiple times in an illustrator file, and I wanted to be more efficient by making it into a symbol. So I embedded the image, made it a symbol, then updated my Illustrator file, replacing the instances of that image with the symbol-version of the image. I then tried to add a drop shadow effect to one of those symbols. Although the effect was listed on the appearance menu, it didn't actually show up visibly on the screen. However, if I added a non-shadow effect to the symbol (e.g. blur .1 pixel) then added a drop shadow, the shadow would then appear. Oddly, I have other images that I have made into symbols where this problem does not occur. Perhaps it's some weird image format issue?
I've included a jpg export below, showing the problem. I've also put the original .ai file up on my Google docs folder here: [URL] ........
I'm using Illustrator CS6 trial version (16.0.3 64 bit). on a Win 8-64 laptop.
I want to copy one image and paste it into a selection (masked) of another image. I have the option to paste into which works but would like to be able to paste in Place as I believe this makes it a smart object and references the original file.
I have created an image on a document sized 14.5*10 cm. I am trying to copy the whole image to a new A4 document and it looks tiny or very fuzzy (if resized). Why is the image tiny when the document size is not that much different?
I do a 8.5 x 11 reso around 75 or up to 150. I lasso out something and paste it to my doc and sometimes it is tiny. Is that because my reso is to high?
I'm trying to write a script to batch process a number of files. I want the script to open file a*.png, convert black color to alpha and paste image b*.png on top of a*.png (both are the same size). The script converts black to alpha, but it doesn't paste image.
I want a plugin for Paint.NET and i will show what i want to say in some pictures. For this exemple i will have :
A. a transparent image (800x600) B. a red ball image (32x32)
1. I have the A image. 2. I copyed and pasted the ball image B on the A image. 3. Now what plugin i want to make is to expand the ball B selection on the all A screen/canvas. 4. Now the ball image B will be expanded on the all screen of A.
Having a problem with Paste and Paste as Block in the right mouse click drop down window.
In the right Mouse click drop down window the Paste, Paste as Block and the Paste to Original Coordinates are grayed out.
The copy with Base Point works, as does the Ctrl+V and Ctrl+Shift+V and repeat Paste Block from the recent Input drop down selection. Why the paste commands are grayed out?
I have one image that has a specific texture I want to reuse for my own custom image, but I'm not sure how to use it in the paint brush while working on the other one. Can I do it the way I described?
So I am trying to work with a web page template in dreamweaver. I am attempting to open the background image in this template with gimp, then paste over top of the Original image with a new image. Every time I paste the new image in it takes the color style of the original.
I.E. The original image is in shades of brown while the new image is in many different colors. Whenever I paste the new image (the image with many colors) it changes to shades of brown like the original image.
The same thing happens if I open the new image as a new layer or just simply copy and paste the new image in.
How do I bring the new image in without it changing colors?
For our field layouts we simply copy and paste image from google earth then scale them (using CTRL + C and CTRL + V).For some reason now, my image that was already pasted into a drawing now only shows the border of the image, not the image itself. Same story with any new images I try to paste in. How to fix this back so I can view my images?
I'm very new to this photo editing. Never used photo shop. Only slightly understand what a layer is and don't really know how they work.
Basically I want to take one image of a person looking at a computer screen and then on the computer screen I want to paste another image so it looks as though they're looking at the image.I have both images but how to cut, copy, paste and resize so that the image fits the screen.
I am having problems copying/pasting an image into Gimp. Instead of the image itself being pasted, it pastes the mac symbol for Jpeg (the photo of the little Asian boy by the sea with the camera lens on top). The same happens pasting an EPS file. I don't understand as I have managed to paste an image before. I have tried pasting into selection/pasting as new image/pasting as new layer. All the same. Neither will Gimp let me drag an image into it from finder or the desktop. I've tried opening a new file from scratch too. Same problem.
I drew a box, then applied a drop shadow going to the right. I duplicated the layer, then dragged it to the left of the first box. I edited the drop shadow to go to the left, and it changed, but so did the first one. I cannot get the two drop shadows to go in different directions.
I've tried different things, drawing separate boxes, etc. but it still will not work.
Does anyone know why this is happening or why I can solve it?
