is it possible to convert the path of a selection into a stroke?
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen you use the Photoshop CS6 new function stroke on the path of a vector shape, how can you convert the result in a vector shape ? Merging multiple vector shapes doesn't work. The strokes outlines are not vectorized in the new vector shape.
It's possible to convert in pixel and keep the stroke drawing, but no way to convert in vector. Illustrator has a similar function in order to vectorize the stroke.
I just thought I would ask... and it may be impossible... Is there a way to convert text to a stroke/strokes instead of a filled path?
View 10 Replies View RelatedIs there a way or an option I am missing to convert my regular paths to a path stroked with a brush profile, while maintining the proper stroke width?
For instance, I have a regular line with a stroke of 5 and then add a brush profile, which then converts the original stroke to whatever the brush was made at.
I traced an image earlier, expanded it then wanted to change the line colour. For some reason I couldn't get this to work even though I've done it in the past. So, I used the magic wand to select the line then dragged it into my new document and changed the line colour.
Now, I want to change the fill on certain sections, however when I change the stroke it changes the colour of the line and when I change the fill it changes the color of the line.
I'm trying to stroke my work path with a brush I tailored myself. now, when I create a workpath from my text layer and switch to my top layer to try and choose 'stroke path' the option is shaded out.

How do I get it so that the end of the line segment doesn't show over the black stroke of the object? If I try to put the line segment behind the object, then the object fill hides it completely.
I'm new to illustrator and I've tried to search for an answer but I don't know the best way to accomplish what I want to do. Seems like some combination of transparency or knockout groups and I've read a bit about this and can't figure out what I need to do.
I spend 12 hours a day in illustrator and some functionality seems to simplistic and ultimately annoying.I'm using Windows 7 64bit. Adobe Illustrator CS6
1. Please auto switch between Stroke fill and fill when I select text. 99% of my time is spent only using fill on text. I would rather manually switch to Stroke when I want to add a fill to it rather having to switch to fill each time.
2. Same for Stroke, from point 1.
3. Add an auto layer for Guides. When I am using the Scissors tool, the majority of the time I don't want to cut my guides up, I would rather instead cut up the shape below it. Again manually changing the layer to select the guide would be preferable.
4. I personally never use the Eraser tool and I switch to the Scissors Tool. Without fail every time I launch Illustrator I have to switch from the Eraser Tool too the Scissors tool. Please add cookies or something so I don't have to always switch to the Scissors Tool.
5. Move "Align to Pixel" toggle somewhere outside a file menu.
I'm trying to figure out a way to automate a simple, yet repetative process I do countless times a day. Ideally, I'd like to tie it to a keystroke to speed up my workflow.
I work on line art and colorways for footwear, so the way I'm coloring these shapes and strokes break apart the different materials and pieces of the shoe.
While coloring line art, I work with Pantone spot colors as fills for closed path objects. I then have to manually apply that same color to the stroke, set the stroke to 0.5px weight, convert that spot stroke color to CMYK, and add 15% to the K value.
I found some code in an older post for applying the actively selected object's fill color to the stroke, but I'm having but I'm having trouble with the next step of figuring out how to take that spot stroke color and convert it to a CMYK build that I can then add 15% black to. Is this something that's even possible? I've spent about an hour playing with the script and have only had luck matching the fill color or turning the stroke white.
I'm trying about 8 hours to convert a Photoshop shape in to a working path in order to put a brush border around it. I don't understand why the "stroke path with brush" is grayed out and not usable directly on the shape path itself.
"Load path from selection" is not an option because it deforms my path.
i try to fill say a circle or something using fill or the paint bucket it never makes a nice smooth circle. There is always some color outside of the space i selected just like the pic i attached.
It also does the same thing when i but a border around something with the stroke feature.
Using CS6 for web mock ups - so lots of vector shapes. And now there are 2 ways to do a stroke, 2 ways to do a fill - in the bar at the top or the old effects dialogue box, but gradients and shadows etc are still just in the old dialogue box, not in the top bar.
Is it me or is this incredibly bad app development? Bolt on some new functionality and don't bother about the old stuff so it just becomes one big mess.Starting to use Sketch now, and really hoping they keep working on it so it makes PS redundant -

Instead of having to click OK to see the result then, if not happy, having to backtrack and try a variation any number of times, could we see the document updating as we change parameters in the dialogues of Stroke and Fill commands? This could be an option that the user can disable

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've tried every permutation of copy and paste; I renamed the path to path. It looks like a path when I add stroke, but it does not behave like one. I can't cut it or join it to any other path. It remembers it's text path status. I'm running OS X 10.7.5.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI accidentally converted a path to a text path. I searched the forum for how to convert it back to a regular path. The answer I found said to select the path and hit Command+C+F. This gives me another text path! I now have at least 6 copies of the path in my files but they are ALL text paths and none are visible with a stroke.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI draw a line with the pen tool, right click and then 'stroke' the pen line with a brush (for example). I imagine I've done this successfully thousands of times but for some reason it just isn't working today (or yesterday actually!). When I right click then go down to 'stroke' nothing happens at all.
However it does work if I go into the 'paths' palette, right click on 'work path' and stroke the pen line with the brush.
I, i can't stroke a path. Pen Tool, design the path, click on the right bottom on top of the path to stroke path, choose brush and select simulate pressure and this just messed all of my pics with some lightning background effect.
View 2 Replies View Relatedive been drawing round this photo in PS and now i want to stroke that path.
Basically ive gone to paths selected the workpath then gone to the bottom and hit stroke path with brush. Ive got a 6px round brush on but all its doing is stroking the bits where the path points originated. This has left me with a join the dot type situation.
I am having problems creating a stroke path in Photoshop CS. I will create a new path, and then apply a stroke path with brush tool setting. For some reason it only is stroking each anchor point and now along the line (path).
So basically I have a basic wave path. It has 3 anchor points, and the stroke path is only making a circle around each anchor point rather than stroking along the path. It is real frustrating because I tried all different settings on the pen tool. Are there specific settings I should have set when creating my path? What am I doing wrong?
I created a path using the pen tool, but when I try the stroke path option it just doesn't do anything. I have selected my brush, changed the width of brush, etc. But when I stroke the path and choose brush and click ok, the path always looks the same as before.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am currently having a problem stroking a path I create in photoshop CS. When I choose stroke path, it does not stroke the entire path I have created with the pen tool but rather only "strokes" the anchor points of the path I have created with the pen tool.

View 7 Replies View Relatedhow to use the stroke path option?
I used the pentool to draw a path, but the stroke path option isn't available.
I am using Photoshop CS6. I am not in quickmask, I am using the essentials pallete I am creating a path not a shape, and I have a new blank layer selected. When I right click on my path, stroke path is available but it just won't do anything. I have been able to get it to work by going to my paths palette and selecting stroke path from there but that is a lot more time consuming.
View 13 Replies View RelatedIf i draw a path and then stroke, is there any way to vary the thickness on some parts of this path?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've created a rectangle and a shape with the bezier tool. I've tried to make the stroke thicker but can't. I've tried selecting the path/mask several ways and chosen different tools in the toolbox but no matter what I do, the Stroke option in the menu is greyed out.
is there a way to do this?
either edit the stroke afterwards - or even specify the width before drawing a path?
I use the pen tool to set the points then right click to select stroke path, select the brush and click ok.
Nothing happens. The blue tube appears so it's processing the command but still nothing happens.
I created a brush and I have created a path. What I want to happen is for the brush to follow the path and keep the angle of the path. What I mean is the brush should stay perpendicular to the path. So that on angles...the brush takes that angle. Does that make sense? Let me explain exactly what I have done. I created a brush that is just a rectangle that is about 1px wide and about 7px tall. I have created a path around some text. I want the brush to follow the path around so that it looks like stitching. But what is happening is on the vertical sides..the brush is staying vertical.
