View 2 Replies View RelatedI've used all kinds of programs and recently bit the bullet and got CS4. I wanted to buy a book on it going further in depth with the software, but I keep finding Photoshop 7 books but not on CS4. So my question is whats the difference? everyone I talked to said CS4 is the best but I don't know the difference, from using the program with out really knowing the ins and outs of it I like it. I keep getting the hand of death sometimes but i'm able to get it working right again. so what is the difference between PS 7 and CS4?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've got a few Photoshop actions that I've been using for personal projects, and I'm considering releasing them to the public. I'd like to make them as version compliant as possible, to suit a wider audience.
What I'm wondering is, if I've created actions in CS (PS v8), how far back in versions would the actions work? I've heard some people say version 7, but I couldn't get a definate answer.
I want to make some actions that will be able to work in different versions of PS (I think the 3 that we use are 5, 7, and LE). Don't worry, most of the actions will be select all, copy, paste, save, ect. Simple things that are open in all vers.
(Am I remembering right that LE doesn't have actions?)
Any who, how could I make actions work in all of these different versions? Make the actions in 5 and load them into 7? I would prefer to make them in 7,
if one could run CS2 and CS4 on the same machine without problems. I ask this, because I currently have CS2 and have been researching the possibility of buying CS4. I don't want to do an upgrade, because I want to keep my CS2 around for a while to make sure I get along with CS4.

I have CS5 and Camera Raw 6.7.
I have Lightroom 3.6 and I want to upgrade to Lightroom 5.
Â
I cannot move to CS6 nor CC.
Â
I will be buying a new camera, with RAW files are not supported in Camera Raw 6.7.
Â
If I install camera raw 8 with Lightroom 5, will I be able to:
- use Camera Raw 8 with CS5
- if not, will I be able to have both versions of Camera raw, 6.7 and 8, on my computer and use 6.7 with CS5 and v8 with Lightroom?
Â
or would it be simpler to just convert the RAW files to DNG and use in both Lightroom 5 and CS5?
In Photoshop CS6, I can't set my workspace to the way it was in previous versions. I especially need the horizontal toolbar that goes under the top menus. I would use it for paths or gradient options for example.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI installed Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium (Trial Version) from a PC magazine cover DVD. After the installation I opened up Photoshop,
Dreamweaver & Flash without a hitch. After closing them all down, I attempted to re-open Photoshop about 20 minutes later. I received a message "A problem was encountered while trying to load the trial period for Adobe Photoshop CS3".
I attempted to open Flash & Dreamweaver but received the same message. I re-started my PC, no good. I did a repair of the software, no good. I reformatted the hard drive and re-installed the software, no good. I downloaded Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended (Trial Version) from Adobe's web site and installed it on a second PC and got the same trial period error message.
I installed Adobe Acrobat 6 Professional (Trial Version) from a PC magazine cover CD and it worked fine. I have searched online and quite a few people seem to be having the same problem but as yet I can not find an answer. Has anyone else experienced this problem or know how to fix it. My PC is an ASUS A8V Deluxe, AMD64 3200+, 1280MB RAM, GeForce 6200 256MB Graphics Card, SoundBlaster 5.1 Audio.
I purchased the Photoshop CS about 5 years ago. My machine became dead and I no longer have the CD with me but I saved the serial number. Could I download this old version again?

I am a Mac user and have been disappointed at some of the limitations of elements 11 on my Mac versus what I understand you can do on a pc. Have these issues been corrected for Mac users in elements 12?

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy client and I are going back and forth on different computers and versions of Photoshop (cs4 for him and cs6 for me) and we are using the exact same font files. (I have quadruple checked this!!) We are also using the same settings and preferences both on screen and when we "save for web.
Also, all fonts are set to "crisp" -- BUT when we look at the files both on screen in photoshop, and on an ipad or screen as a .gif -- the cs6 version looks a TINY bit bolder/thicker. I'm working with various fonts and they're all doing this. See the two images below, I know the difference is almost insignificantly small, but this is an issue for the project we're working on.

I was working on a Photoshop CS4 file last night that was created in CS4 and has only been opened on this machine in CS4. I saved the file and closed Photoshop. When I open the file today, all my layers are gone, flattened into one Background layer, and the image looks like colored TV static. On top of that, the separate, older version of this file with a different name (created earlier in the week on the same machine in the same CS4) will not open at all - I get the error message, "Could not complete your request because the file is empty" and the file size has mysteriously shrunk to 76 KB from 20+ MB. What happened?! I'm guessing these files are corrupted beyond recovery, but why and how did this happen?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI upgraded from CS5 to CS6 when it was released. A couple of weeks ago I uninstalled both CS5 and an old version of Photoshop Elements v7 that had been on my machine.
Â
Even though I use CS6 I just noticed that when I look for or open a PSD file from CS6 that my PSD files are defined in the "Type" column as follows "PhotoshopElements.PSDFile.7"
I no longer have Elements 7 on my machine and I'm concerned that there might be an artifact from that old app that is being used by CS6 instead of current versions of PSD.
Â
How to confirm I am using only current CS6 PSD conversions?
Â
Environment: Windows 7, CS6, Lightroom 4.
I have heard that the new Photoshop CC uses a new file system that is not compatible with older versions of Photoshop so you can only edit them in the new Cloud version of Photoshop CC.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm having trouble with PE 12. It is not saving new versions of files in version sets even though I select the option to do so when I save-as from the editor.
Â
Also, when I create a new file, say a photomerge panorama, it does not include it into elements even though I have selected the option to do so.
Â
This appears to be a bug (or 2).
I currently have Photoshop Elements ver. 10,11, &12 on 2 computers. I have done the requested conversions to use older Elements photos. Is there a program or feature that will let me use any of these saved images on any computer, only on version 12, or are these images just lost? I have several CD/DVD sets of saved images that I am not able to access and have I lost the use of these images? Further, why does every version of Photoshop Elements need to save older images and "convert" them for the latest product version? I have used 8 different versions since Elements first came out and this problem of conversion has been a source of trouble and confusion from the start. Further, there is the problem of dispensary in the forwarded images and the "lost" connections to images.

Why in CS6 when zoom changes window size and a floating window fits in Photoshop window or on other display screen do I get scroll bars where a select all selection marching ants are not visible on all four sides till I drag out the window to get rid of the scroll bars so I can see all of marching ants.Â
In previous versions of Photoshop space for scroll bars is present but there are no scroll bar, select all marching ants are visible on all four sides when an image's window fits in Photoshop window or on second display. Is there a way to make CS6 work like previous versions? Also if I just open a document and Photoshop fits it to Photoshop window or second display the floating window is correct without scroll bars.

I've recently become aware that other people are getting an error message when opening many of my my psd files if they are on earlier versions of PS and also on PSE, (including the latest version). The message is:
Â
This document contains unknown data which will be discarded to keep layers editable. To preserve the original appearance instead, choose flatten to load composite data as a flattened image.Â
Â
Three options follow: Flatten Cancel Keep Layers
Â
When 'keep layers' is selected the file opens as normal. However, people with much earlier version (CS version 8) don't get the option to keep layers, and the layers are flattened when the document is opened.
Â
I still have CS5 on my mac, and I find that if I take my finished file into CS5 and save it there, the customer does not get the message above, and the file behaves as it should. Those on very early version of PS can also open the files without any issues.Â
Â
I've been using CS6 since it was released and have had to delve through all my files and save them in CS5. Not every file is affected and I've been unable to find a common thread.
Do i use back up, export or copy/move .i want to have just i merged set pf files with no duplicates and no omissions . then i will just run one version in organizer as its so much easier.

From my C# windows forms app, I want to launch AutoCAD 2006 and 2007..This code is working with 2006 :
Autodesk.AutoCAD.Interop.AcadApplication acadApp = new
Autodesk.AutoCAD.Interop.AcadApplicationClass();
I'm using references to Autodesk.AutoCAD.Interop + .Common version
16.1.63.0.
I want to launch AutoCAD 2007, too. So, I added a reference to AutoCAD 2007.Type Library from COM. And now I'm getting a lot of compiling errors :
Error 448 The type 'Autodesk.AutoCAD.Interop.AcadApplicationClass' exists in
both 'd:CIMS.NETCimsWinClientinDebugAutodesk.AutoCAD.Interop.dll' and
'c:WINDOWSassemblyGAC_MSILAutodesk.AutoCAD.Interop17.0.54.0__eed84259d7cbf30bAutodesk.AutoCAD.Interop.dll'
What should I do to launch different versions of AutoCAD from C#, based on user choice ?
I'm using max 2012, and recently I got a license for max 2009 so I can use both at the same time.problem is that I installed max 2009 after 2012, so .max files started opening on max 2009. when I manually switched them on windows to open on max 2012, a weird and ugly icon got associated with .max files. you can say I have OCD, but I just hate wrong icons and stuff, that's something I stare to all day long, so I'd rather to keep it clean.
so I uninstalled max 2012 and installed it again. was a pain to reinstall my scripts and some plugins, but I got the icons back. but the other day, when I restarted my computer, files were associated to max 2009 again! and I didn't even touch 2009 version. It's driving me crazy. how can I associate .max files to max 2012 again and get the new neat 2012 icons to show?
