I would like to create a gloss varnish effect like the below image. To apply to a logo or text to make it look like it has a spot varnish gloss coat. Looking at the image, it looks like it would be quite simple and not too technical but I can't seem to replicate the effect.

How to create a cool rainbow nebula text effect that you can play with. This is a fairly easy effect to achieve.
The result will look something like this:
1. Create a New project and set your dimensions. In this case, I am going to use 500 x 200. This part is up to you.
2. I think this effect goes best with a dark color(black) so use the fill tool to turn your background black(or your color pick if it is different).
3. Next, add your text using the text tool. I believe the font Century Gothic goes well with this. However, I am going to use my logo with this. Make sure whatever you do, if you use your logo or not, that your subject is white.
4. Right-click on the text/logo layer in the layer panel and select Alpha to Selection. Then create a New Layer and go the Filters→Render→Clouds→Plasma and click OK. Put this layer on the below the text one if it is not already.
5. Now Gaussian Blur the text layer by 5 pixels and set the Layer Mode to Overlay.
6. (This step is optional. I am going to do it though because it gives a good result in my opinion.) Duplicate the Plasma Layer and Gaussian Blur it by 5 pixels. Then you can play around with the opacity with the Layer Mode on Screen, I set mine to 50%. Then duplicate the text layer and lower the opacity which I did to 50%. This gives the text more shine.
The result will look something like this:
How to create the effect of an object (in this case a crown) hanging on the edge of a letter (on the end of a word). I am designing a logo for our kids ministry at church. It is called "Kids of the King" and I have an eps of a crown and I want to hang the crown off the K in the word King. I am trying to make it where the back half of the crown is hidden behind the K so it gives the effect of it hanging off the edge of the letter.

I'm creating a menu for my webpage but there's something wrong. I get the feeling of "rock" on this piece, not rusted, old metal which is the feeling I should be getting. It would be great if anyone could provide me with tips on how to make it more "metally" and less rocky. And yes, I tried lowering the saturation on the bottom layer, but it didn't cut it. I own a copy of, and create my images in, Photoshop 5.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a ton of icons 100x100 and I made a droplet to import them into a document as separate layers and make them 125X125. I now need to make all of the images look like they are falling out of a hole, like confetti squares. is there a way I can make each image/layer look like it is falling, randomly ( I don't want each image to have the same perspective.) I'd figure it would have something to do with transform>skew or perspective.
