Illustrator :: Set Parameters So That Contrast Between Shades Of Lavender Is Khaki Instead Of Grey

Jun 8, 2013

I am creating a simple background using 'Artistic effect - Sponge' in illustrator CS6. I took a simple Khaki box and put it through the effect. I like how the effect looks, it turned the background into a blotchy pattern contrasting from greys to khaki tones. Is it possible to set the parameters so that it would contrast between shades of lavender and khaki instead of the greys it is using now?

Photoshop :: Grey Scale In PS7

Aug 14, 2008

I have recently installed PS7 on my laptop and when creating a new project, the defaul is sent on grey for the color, when I set it to RGB or CMYK and want to choose a color, I get the standard color box with about 20 colors instead of the color pallet I used to get.

What is the setting I'm looking for and how to I set it as the default?

Photoshop :: Grey Scale Conversion In CS5

Nov 30, 2012

I've found a peculiar problem with grey scale conversion in Photoshop CS5.

The problem:

I have black and white photos in an RGB colour space. I can't use a black and white layer adjustment because there are no color channels in the image. I used the 'image > mode> greyscale' menu item to convert to greyscale, and in photoshop there appears to be no change to the greyscale values. However, when I place the image in inDesign, it is markedly different; blacks are pure black but greys are washed out.

I print the two images side by side (RGB and greyscale) and they come out identical (though darker than I expected). Is inDesign showing RGB or Greyscale differently on screen? I have the display settings at 'high quality'.

Photoshop :: Grey Scale Layer To Specified Color

Jun 3, 2011

If there is a way to tell Photoshop, and in a CMYK or RGB file, that I want to make all the 100% blacks in a grey scale layer a solid specified color, and all greys just percentages of that solid color? And to be able to do this without having to use spot channels or dial in CMYKs via Channel Mixer? In other words, a "one-click" method, or close to it.

Paint.NET :: Using Grey Scale Picture Frames?

Feb 27, 2011

Is it possible to use .png grey scale photo edges (made for photoshop) in paint.net? I found some "frames" that will add various edges to the image (torn edge, lace, ect), but they are in grey scale and I'm not sure how, if I can, to use them in pdn. I'm just wanting to give a ragged or other style edge to my photos or backgrounds to use them for digital scrapbooking and framed photos.

GIMP :: Adding Grey Scale Mask To A Layer

Mar 22, 2012

I am trying to add a grey scale mask to a layer so I can alter some game files .But I must be missing something blindingly obvious. Here is how I create a mask in PSP6.

-First I duplicate the base layer.
-Then I adjust the saturation to -100%(grey). Then I adjust the lightness to +100%..This gives a grey scale image.
-I then increase the brightness by 25% and the contrast by 50%. This gives a grainy bright and high contrast grey scale image.
-I then create a mask and then add the mask to a blank layer.

This allows me to spray away to my hearts content and leaves the main detail on the original image untouched. By this method I can add mud effects to tank tracks in games and still see the original link details through the mud.

But I am having major issues trying to achieve this effect in gimp.At the moment this hurdle is stopping me getting to grips with gimp.

Photoshop :: Remove Tick By Side Of Grey Scale Slider And Make Other Options Available For Selection As Normal

May 14, 2012

If I select a "New" document in CS5 I find that I am only able to paint or fill in in grey scale. This is new. In the Color options panel the grey scale slider is ticked and all other options are greyed out.

How do I remove the tick by the side of the grey scale slider and make the other options available for selection as normal. I note that if I open a previously opened document all options are available it just seems to be new blank documents.

Corel PHOTO-PAINT X4 :: Convert To 16bit Grey-scale?

Sep 15, 2013

I have just had to do a complete re-install of my CorelSuite X4 following the addition of a new hard-drive.

I now have the situation in Corel Photo-paint where -

1   I open a grey-scale image (.jpg).

2   I paste (as a new object) an RGB colour item (a previously created .cpt file) onto the grey-scale image.

3   I then "Convert to 16Bit grey-scale" in order to change the whole new image to grey-scale, but the pasted object is being automatically flattened into the image and I can no longer work on that object independently.

I never had this before, as I was always able to convert to grey-scale and the "pasted object" would remain with the mask outlined and still allow me to work on it.

Photoshop :: CS6 - Brush Contrast

Jul 31, 2013

Quick question: If I am creating a black line drawing with a brush, how can I ensure that I will be able to alter the contrast later on? Sometimes it seems to work, other times not at all (i.e. if I open the histogram, it shows just one line all the way to the left; the lack of colour suddenly becomes an issue).

I like to use a soft, slightly opaque brush at first - which with the tablet gives it a nice range of pressure, but then usually I need to up the contrast at a later point.

I'm using PS CS6.

When I'm using the pen tool in Photoshop CS4, it sometimes takes the color of what I'm using the pen tool on, ie; if I'm working with a picture with a bright green or pink, the path is bright green or pink (see link below) The picture isn't the worst that it does, but if I took a screenshot when it's at it's worst, you wouldn't see anything. I went through all the preferences and saw nothing. I do have the OpenGL acceleration turned on.

Photoshop :: Legacy Brightness / Contrast In CS6?

Jul 11, 2013

It's a small issue, but one that was a no brainer in CS5 - I use Legacy Brightness Contrast about 80 times a day, and CS6 no longer keeps it ticked, I have to manually enable it every single time, and by about the 57th time of having to do this every day, it becomes a more than a little irritating. As some of you will remember, CS5 just kept it ticked once you selected it.

The new brightness / contrast is great for certain tasks, not so great for others. I, and I'm sure many others rely on the legacy version.

Photoshop :: Flattening All Contrast / Where Are Blacks

Dec 10, 2013

I edit a photograph from a Camera Raw file to high contrast, grainy black and white, then when I try to flatten it or save it, it washes all the contrast out completely. When I try to merge layers, flatten image or cmd+opt+e/cmd+opt+shift+e to a new file it does the same thing. Here's what I've tried to correct the issue:

-I've tried saving it as a PSD file, a TIFF, a JPEG and a BMP file
-I've tried calibrating my monitor (X-Rite i1 Pro)
-I've tried soft proofing on and off (left off for now)
-I've tried resetting my colour settings to import files into the working space as ProPhoto & Adobe RGB 1998
-I've tried setting the import as the calibrated settings for the screen rather than ProPhoto or Adobe RGB 1998
-I've checked that all files (apart from a Dodge/Burn Layer which has to be on Soft Light never affected any files before) were set to normal
-I've tried converting profiles from ProPhoto to Adobe 1998, Adobe 1998 to sRGB
-I've tried going to preferences in User>Me>Library>Preferences>Adobe Photoshop CS6 Settings and manually resetting all relevant references
-I've tried flushing and resetting all preferences
-I've tried to uninstall and install Photoshop SC6 from scratch
-I've tried restarting the image from the raw file with the new install of CS6, done all the edits again manually...

And it still does the same thing. Whenever I have adjustment layers on my file and have some contrast added that I want to save, it flattens the whole image out..The last attachment is what it looks like in photoshop and another with my colour settings for the (calibrated) screen
