Jun 7, 2004the close-up tool, which by default used a (+) sign to amplify detail, switched to a (-) sign to show detail further away from the viewer. That's the magnifyin glass icon. It must have happened when using the Alt key.
But the (-) mode became permanent and there was no way to change it back to (+), even after re-setting tools, and even after uninstall re-install.
It took uninstall and deleted a subdirectory and its contents, where P.S. stores user parameters, that it installed as (+) which is the default mode.

Jun 11, 2013Everytime AutoCAD 2014 shuts down I get a fatal error with the d3b42920h. It doesn't seem to be the drawing that is erroring because it doesn't ask for a recovery file to be saved, but the program it'self.
When SDI is set to 1 everytime you open a new drawing the error occurs.
We do have a company wide network deployment with customised settings for over 40 machines and it only happens on certain machines. I don't want to restore default settings as and re-load our company settings on every machine this happens.

Oct 4, 2012In CS5 if I choose the either the Transform or Free Transform tools (having created a new layer for the image) I get an error message saying ‘could not transform because the initial bounding rectangle is empty’.

I have tried the tool from many angles thru the color picker, shifting the brush tool, ect. I get the same message. The eyedropper works for me in Illustrator.
You don't realize how necessary the eyedropper tool is till it is not working! I have rebooted, tried 64bit and 32, uninstalled CC and and reinstalled with no luck.

Apr 13, 2013I'm trying to do some work on a file I set up months ago. First, I tried to copy some text to paste into another program. I got this back:
"Could not use the type tool because of a program error."
I'm using a font called Hit the Road. Interestingly when I changed it to Myriad Pro it let me copy and paste.But - when I went to save the file out as a PDF, I got a similar message:
"Could not save as “xxxxxxx.pdf” because of a program error."
I've tried clearing my preferences and restarting the computer. I haven't uninstalled PS.
I'm using:
CS6 13.0.4 x64
And I'm on a:
MacBook Pro 13" Retina running up to date Lion
2.5 GHz i5, 8GB memory, Intel HD Graphics 4000 768 MB

Photoshop :: Unbelievable Error CC Using Type Tool?
Oct 22, 2013Everything had been going good. Yesterday I wanted to use theType tool. I have attached a screen shot 1 and will refer to that. As you can see the New file was created using the PS defaults, I created a box to type in. and then everything goes completly to H*ll. I included the Character screen so you can see what I was trying to do.
First of all the cursor is WAY WAY ABOVE THE BOX, I had defined 24pt type size, Bold and you can see that it just goes crazy. There is nothing I can do. So I tried just using the Type tool to add some type. Same thing. Screen shot #2 shows that. So I opened PS CS6 and everything works as designed.Something has happened to PS CC.

Then I need to save my work and restart PS to work on it another 5 mins before it locks up again.

Photoshop :: Unusual Program Error With Type Tool?
Aug 22, 2013Working on a document with many layers, I kept getting a Program Error when I typed the double quote character into the type tool. This was not the usual Program Error in that it was recoverable. Other times I've seen the Program Error, Photoshop would stop responding & require a restart.
In this case, all I had to do was delete the double quote character, and Photoshop was back to normal. Hmmm...PSCS5.1 on a Mac Pro with Mountain Lion.

Aug 25, 2013I came across an error in Photoshop CC when combining using the pen tool and rotating the canvas.
1) Create a new photoshop document
2) Draw an ellipse using the ellipse tool. Select ellipse
3) Select the pen tool. Make sure combine shapes is selected. Draw a triangle which intersects the ellipse.
4) Select Image/Image Rotation/90 CW
the triangle will rotate with the canvas but the ellipse will not.
