Everything I read says its version 6.4, but when I attempt to run the 6.4 patch I get the message that it does not apply? Has Adobe prevented PSE7 from opening .NEF files from the D5100 (without conversion) in an effort to force paid upgrades to the current PSE version?
I was just working on something about an hour ago, I know I saved it. But now when I try to open it, a message pops up saying: "could not complete your request becuase the file is not compatible with this version of photoshop." I understand that I should've saved as a jpeg too but is there any way I can get this back, I really don't want my hard work to go to waste and to have to start over! I am using Elements 10.
All my previous files were saved as (.psd). Somehow, one of my photoshop elements projects was saved as a (.pse). I can't open it. How can I re open this file and continue working?
I have a Canon Powershot SX50 HS and downloaded and installed the ACR version 7.2. When I attempt to open a CR2 file in PSE 10, I get the message "Cannot open ...CR2 because it is the wrong type of file". Why can't I open the file?
My Windows 7 and Photoshop Elements 10 will not open image CD's downloaded from another Photoshop file. Could open them in a previosu Windows XP and older Photoshop. Now get message: "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Program default control panel."There are hundreds of asscociation files listed.
I just installed ACR 5.6 on my old Elements 7.0, hoping that it would allow me to upload RAW files from my Canon S100. I get a message saying something like "Cannot open file (filename.CR2) because it is the wrong type of file". Someone in another thread suggested that not all CR2 files are the same...that they're camera dependent. (It seems like they shouldn't be) Supposedly ACR 5.6 supports the Canon S90, which is 2 generations prior to the S100.
With Elements 11 closed, double clicking on a .psd multi-layered image causes Elements 11 to open but the image does not open subsequently as it should from windows explorer in windows 7. I have to use open in the Elements 11 editor to go to the folder and open the .psd file. I have Elements 11 set as the primary software to open a .psd file.I did not have this problem with Elements 8 which was installed previously. I can right click a Canon .CRW raw file and say open with Elements 11 but the RAW file does not open in ACR7.3.
Doing the same with a Canon .CR2 raw file will open the raw file in ACR 7.3.If I have Elements 11 open but minimized in the tray I can drag a .psd or a Raw file from a folder in Windows Explorer down to the Elements 11 icon in the tray and it will open Elements back up as it should and paste the file into the editor.
I had Elements 8 installed prior to 11 and uninstalled it prior to installin 11. Never had a problem opening a file with 8.There is some catalog junk left over intententionally by Adobe from Elements 8 but it should not be causing the problem.I have looked for a cache or history to clear but only find a Reset in each preference window and a "Reset Preferences on next Launch" for everything. All that does is make the editor open in Quick View rather than Expert view, which is the only default I have changed.
I cannot open a .dng file in my ps elements 6.0. I am running win xp pro
I can see the RAW .dng files in the 'open' dialog box, but when I go to "open" one, I get the following error. Online help say I "should" be able to do this.
Format Import Export Bitmap (.bmp, .dib, .rle) x x Camera Raw(1) (.tif, .crw, .nef, .raf, .orf, .mrw, .dcr, .mos, .raw, .pef, .srf, .dng, .x3f, .cr2, .erf, .sr2, .kdc, .mfw, .mef, .arw) I get an error message "could not complete your request because of a program error"
My camera is a Casio EX-FH100, shoot 10mp files in raw.
Elements 12, becuase I got allways a Error Message. I found a really good Tutorial, about this problem and did it step by step:
open as... choose picture(eps)... chose OPEN AS -TIFF... Now I can edit the picture.
I resize the picture to more than 10000px. After this work the picture looked like ... unsharp.... I saw the pixel and I thounght that was the side-effect of the resize.
I was by a friend, who has the photoshop cs6 software(Stundent...) yesterday. I took the same eps file and opened it in his version. The result is unthinkable. The picture looked very great. I didn't see andy pixel. It looked sharp. Whats the reason for this difference?
I could resize the picture like a skyscraper and it looks alway very great.
I just bought the Canon Rebel T3 and shot off a few pics using RAW. But when I try to open them with PSE 6, it tells me it can't do it. I HAVE the 6.4 update installed.
Everytime I try to open a CR2 file i get an error saying
"could not complete your request because the file appears to be from a camera model which is not supported by the installed version of Camera Raw. Please visit the Camera Raw help documentation for additional info."
I am shooting with a Canon 6D and Canon 60D so I know the camera models are supported. I have already updated to the 7.1 version of Camera Raw.
Error message trying to open .CR2 file - "Could not complete your request because the file appears to be from a camera model which is not supported by the installed version of Camera Raw."

Canon EOS Rebel XS is listed in Supported Cameras at URL..Purchased and installed from Adobe website (not Apple store).Adobe Application Manager reports "Your applications are all up-to-date".Mac AppStore reports "No Updates Available"
Tried uninstalling and reinstalling as detailed at URL....
I have been using PSE-7 for a long time. But something happened to it that either involves the settings, or there is a corrupted file that won't allow me to open any file; new or existing; for editing. I uninstalled the program, and then reinstalled it thinking that that would fix the problem. But it didn't. It still won't open any file into the editor and won't drop in a copied file. It won't even open a new blank file. This happened suddenly. I was using the program and it was working, then I tried to open another file and it wouldn't work at all.
I installed Elements 11 on a Windows 7 system. When I go to FILE and select OPEN and then go to the folder where pictures are stored and then click on the folder nothing appears except the message "No items match your search". I have been using Elements 5 on an XP system and have no trouble selecting the folder, opening it, select the pictures I want to edit and edit them. What am I doing wrong in Elements 11?
