Photoshop Elements :: JPEG Is Not A Save Option
Jul 29, 2013I just had to reinstall Photoshop because my computer crashed. When I try to "save as" JPEG is not even an option.

View 1 RepliesJust got/learning PS CS2. I noticed when I first loaded CS2, I had an option to save as .JPEG. A few days later, the option disappeared. Even when I open an original .JPEG, the Save As option does not display .JPEG as an option. For web work, I need to be able to quickly save to .JPEG (from the save as option) and I can't figure out why it is not available. I do have the Save for Web option, but it take a bit longer to use.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've worked on a photo that I'd like to save in JPEG format, I've read the replies to previous queries which say to change to 8 bit, when I click on image, 8 bit is greyed out and not accessible. Every time I try to change to JPEG I keep getting an error message. I'm currently evaluating this program, but if I can only use the images I've altered within the program then it's not going to work for me.

Can this be done in elements and if so what settings should I use.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been using an old version of Photoshop for awhile (Photoshop Elements 5.0) and it hasn't been buggy until now. I made a photoshop file, saved it, and when I tried to save it as a JPEG I get an "cannot complete request due to a system error" type message. It's a normal file, simple layers, contrast, brushes, etc., but I've tried opening normal JPEG files, drawing on it, and saving, still nothing.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am changing from PSE8 to PSE12 and realized upon trying 12 today that PSE12 automatically saves my edited pictures in PSD format where PSE8 saved them in JPEG. I don't use the organizer for catalogs, instead opening up folders where I've saved my pictures (e.g. Christmas 2013)and editing the photos I like in PSE8 and then saving them back in that same folder. It may not be the 'right' way, but it works for me. The picture I tried using PSE12 on, saved in the PSD format which isn't viewable in those folders (windows picture viewer is the default). I truly only use PSE for improving pics I like and want to share/email, use as my desktip background, post to Facebook, and print for myself or gifts via uploading to a photo printing service (Mpix, Walmart, etc.) Is there a way to have PSE12 default to saving as JPEG or should I be saving everything as PSD? I get that PSD only works with PS and takes more space, but doesn't cause loss of quality of the pictures the way JPEG does ~ I'm just not sure it's important for the way I use PSE. \
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am now getting a program error when I try to save some images as jpegs. It seems that only a small percentage of my pics are having this issue, and they are the ones I have taken in the past two days. I can go back into my catalog and run any other pics through PSE and save as a jpeg with no problems. But if I try to do any touch ups on any of the pics from yesterday or the day before, i get the error message. I can even go back into lightroom 4 and export any pics from 3 days ago and have no issues saving them as jpegs. I always get the option to save as a jpeg, it just errors out while trying to save. I'm using a somewhat older laptop w/ vista 64 bit.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI understand how to export files right from lightroom and save them as jpegs....
let's say i do some post processing in lightroom but want to do a couple of things in elements afterwards. i understand how to get the worked on image into elements (photo--edit in), but the file that is now in elements cannot be saved as a jpeg...is there a step i am missing, or do i have to get that image back into lightroom to then export out as a jpeg? if so how do you get the reworked file back into lightroom with the elements changes still intact?
I got this workflow,
1) From LR export to PS
2) Do all essential editings.
3) Save. File become 'xyz.tiff' now. (I want to keep this as master copy)
4) Crop to 4r, Save a Jpeg copy as 'xyz 4r.jpg'
5) PS save it as a copy, but do not automatically open the Jpeg copy. The tiff remains opened. I have to manullay Open, browse to it, and open the Jpeg. The 'Open Recent' list also do not list 'xyz 4r.jpg'.
6) Do 4r sharpening for the 'xyz 4r.jpg', save it.
Basically the files I want to keep and worked on is like this: NEF -> xyz.tiff -> xyz 4r.jpg -> xyz sml.jpg(maybe)
Now, it there a way in step (5) to have PS save the JPEG copy, and automatically open it? I don't care if the Tiff copy remains opened or not, I am done with it.
I got a new computer (Windows 7) at work this April and as of today, when I work on any of my JPEG images in PS CS5,suddenly it has defaulted its "Save As" to JPEG2000. How did this default change and how do I get it to default save as. JPEG again? There was nothing I noticed and no warning as to why this has changed, I didn't touch a thing!
(Last week, Adobe had to work with our IT manager to fix a problem that started occuring with my new Adobe Acrobat Pro 11 program. They had to log into my computer and change a registry thing to get it to work properly again...also something that changed without warning!!)
I am using PSCS2, in WinXP Pro. I use RAW + JPG option in my digital camera. After RAW processing I save my files as TIFF, in case I feel I want to do further post processing in PSCS2. When I am through processing the image in photoshop, I save the completed file as a .jpg file, to save disk space. Today I processed a number of RAW format photos and as usual saved them as .tif files, for further processing in photoshop, if deemed necessary. Today when I was through processing in photoshop, the .jpg extension is not one of the options when I go to Saved As - the only JPEG option is a JPEG2000 format with .jpf extension. why I no longer have the .jpg option, when I am saving the processed .tif file?

View 1 Replies View RelatedFrom the start, I wasn't able to save to jpeg without getting a dcm extension (no jpg extension). However, if I saved to Multi-picture Format, I would get the familiar .jpg and everything worked fine for a while. This morning I cannot find a file format in "save as" that results in the .jpg file extension.

I want to know what Wavelet Filters (float and integers) and Tile size refers to, what it is and what it technically (but simply put) does. I found some info on the web, but it's really technical and I lack some background to understand what it means.
